If I try to open this specific doc file, Writer crashes. It crashes on Windows
with OOo 3.1, OOo 3.2, OOo 3.2.1RC2, DEV300m80, Ubuntu with OOO320m12.

Office XP, Word Viewer 2003 opens this file fine.

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I've been trying to edit a 68 page document 
in your program and I keep having the issue of it freezing up...I cannot even 
access the Help button because it freezes...this is very irritating, and plus I 
paid for the program (sure didn't get it for free), so I'm really distraught 
about this (it is a paper due for school...can't save it to anything else 
because I can't even click on a button before it freezes...)what do you propose 
that I do about this issue...I would greatly appreciate a prompt response in 
this matter, because this is a paper for school...because I am almost ready to 
take the program off my computer and make sure everyone I know, knows how 
terrible the program is...

the extension to 3.2.1 RC1 under MS Vista, fre 1.6_20.

At first it seems to be working correctly, and is in some ways - but turns out
it really is not working entirely properly there is IMO a couple of problems,
Linux just to exacerbate the situation.

There was some problem with connections and file locking for the ODB file, after
a report is displayed for instance..anyway - then

Then decided I should update to 3.2.1 RC2 and check it, did and now the
extension is no longer saving the data between sessions at all.

empty data cells. This is desirable in the case of a table where data points are
missing and you would rather show a discontinuity rather than a line implying
data where none exists.

The scatter type, though, does connect points that span ranges of empty values

I changed the font to DejaVu.
When I tried to print it, the sections that were bold and underlined did not
appear on the printed copy.

Pretty basic problem.  I load a spreadsheet file.  I get to type into it for
maybe 30 seconds and then without any apparent cause, my entire system hangs,
the screen goes gray and I get the "reboot your system NOW" message in 6 
languages.

I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 on dual quad-core Intel Mac Pro.

I know that I have been able to edit some documents in Calc and also text
documents with out any trouble.  There are just a couple files that cause the
crash.  

Each time I try to open the file again, it hangs at random.  I may type
something, I may click on a different menu, move the screeen, sometimes I don't
do anything.

I can confirm the problem using Ubuntu Lucid (AMD64) w/ ooo-build 3.2 and
vanilla 3.2.1 RC2. Same behavior in both. Tried each with JRE 1.6.20 and *.18.

OK - I'm also having to add every task twice, meaning that when I use the task
dialog and click OK, there dialog just cycles back for input and only after
clicking OK a second time will it close.

I can then open the table in the TakenDB and see the changes.

Close OO.o and restart - the TakenDB database is empty of the updates I added in
the last step.

Tried working with the ODB file directly and when I do that all changes are
written to disk as expected -BUT- well something is really wrong here.

I'll go off and try this again under windows, but you say it works with 3.2 
there?

I've been creating a slideshow in Impress, and am having trouble getting the 
automatic advance slide option to stick.  Sometimes it seems to work, sometimes 
it doesn't.  I did eventually get it to stick everywhere I needed it – through 
brute repetition, repeating the exact same actions each time. I'd say it took 
about five or so tries for each slide, on average.

Here's what I did: 

First I built the slideshow, then I wanted to apply transitions to 10 or so 
slides of the 40-slide presentation.  I went to Slideshow > Slide Transition.  
Upon opening the panel, the default is set to advance slide “on mouse click” – 
I 
selected instead the radio button “Automatically after,” and then set the 
number 
of seconds I wanted.  Sometimes, this worked. Most often though, it greyed out 
the entire panel, and had no effect on the slide transition.  In order to try 
again, I needed to select another slide (to make the panel active again), then 
re-select the original slide and re-select “Automatically after.”  Which again 
– 
sometimes stuck, and sometimes did not stick.

I searched around a little but couldn't find any reports of other people having 
this same problem.  I've never had it before, but this was the first time I've 
tried to use Slide Transitions in OO.  I'm reporting it as reassurance that the 
problem exists for any others who experience it, and also in hopes that if it 
does exist // can be replicated, someone will try to get it fixed.

Same thing here - created a simple spreadsheet using MSO-FB via docs.com saved 
as ooxml, only choice. The file opens no problem with 3.2.1 RC2 and not at all

I attached one document that at least sometimes triggers the issue. 
Unfortunately this doesn't happen 
every time.

I tried these steps several times, but only encountered the bug once:
1. open document Elias lönnrot.odp
2. click on each slide, and for each text box that contains bullet point, do 
the following:
3. click on text box, move cursor to end of text box with cursor keys
4. press enter to add another bullet point and enter some text

At one time, when I had added bullet points to both text boxes on original 
slide number 7, I noticed that 
the original slide number 5 had been duplicated and the total number of slides 
grown from 9 to 10. I tried 
to repeat the steps above, but couldn't reproduce the bug again.

Circumstances which might affect the bug:
- After starting OpenOffice, I had opened and closed several other documents 
with OpenOffice before 
opening the attached document
- The document which triggered the error resides on a file server (samba on 
Ubuntu linux), which is 
mounted with the cifs file system
- I don't know which version of OpenOffice.org was originally used to create 
the document

Thanks. Using row and column headers is not a problem as a workaround for me.

In regard to my other comment, that the row range is ignored, what is your
observation about that? That is, .B2:.B5 vs. .B2:.B1000, et cetera. I haven't
explored the problems that this might or might not cause me when creating plots
of more than one series, where the series..es don't necessarily cover the entire
range of the x axis.

Hello,

I have found something really different compared to Excel behavior this week and
this should only be the visible part of affected functions.

I use sometimes columns like this on Excel : CountA(B:B) which on Excel give a
number of non empty cells ... but on Openoffice : I got 1 all the time even if
the column is empty.

I'm sure there is a lot of functions working like this (sum(), average(), etc.)

Hope to get it fixed in Ooo 3.3

I was not able to reproduce this bug.

Tested without all information on:
Pentium 4 540 (3.2ghz single core, 800MB FSB)
2G PC3200 667mhz ram
200G sata 5400 rpm hard drive
Windows 7 Ultimate edition build 7600

I attempted to reproduce this bug with the current version only while I wait for
a response as to the previous version used to create the input file.  My method
was as follows:

1.  Create a new impress document with 10 slides each containing a different
number of bullet points, ranging from 0 to 9, with text following each bullet
point.  Save this document.
2.  Open the document created in step 1 and select a slide.
3.  Select the text box, move the cursor to the end of the box, and press enter
to include another bullet point.
4.  Repeat steps two and three starting with a different slide each time until
all 10 have been evaluated.

Results:
None of the slides I tested using this procedure rendered duplicates while
manipulating the text boxes.

Follow up testing:
With more information about which release the original tester's input file came
from, or with the file itself I would like to perform the same steps listed
above but with the correct input file.

As I've just found out, this regression has nothing to do with the koheiextref01

This seems to be an OS specific issue. Under Fedora 12 using OO320m12, it works
for me. But on my Vista machine (running the beta 3.2.1: OO320m17) it still does
not work. Windows 2000 != Windows Vista!

Regular expression with braces [:alpha:]{2}+ doesn't work properly. This
expression should work the same way as [:alpha:][:alpha:]+ (right?). But it
doesn't. Often [:alpha:]{2}+ gives a word without the last symbol, [:alpha:]{3}+
gives a word without the 2 last symbols and so on. Tested with Ubuntu 10.04 +
OOO320m12, OOO320m18, DEV300m80.

I too experienced the same problem. On a 10x10 table, even selecting a few cells
is slow, any sort of edition/resizing is barely usable.
This was reproducible on two different machines (OSX and Linux), even on a
fairly recent machine with 4GB of RAM.

Please Make sure that the help screen does mention that you need to use the "+" 
function if you need a sum over more than 30 sheets!! It is very frustrating to 
use the sum function and to find out that all is gone next time you load the

The Metafile is already only once decomposed to primitives and those are already
buffered. Thus, at repaint, that data goes pretty direct to the system-level

IHA->AW: Does that mean - no the rendering cannot be fastened?
If so please consider whether a multithreaded asynchron preparation of the
metafiles is possible.
If you think that nothing can be done here please close the issue as cannot fix.
If you think there are chances for enhancement please assign the issue to that
one who can do them. The chart itself has nothing to do with the metafile
rendering, so I am the wrong owner.

I found an additional effect:
Normally I have been asked whether I want to join the improvement program (or
similar) when I open OOo3 the first time after I passed through the 'Welcome
Dialog' and closed OOo. 
This did not happen with m78 and m79

Now I installed m80, and it seems that the problem vanished.

Note: Windows 7 32bits and similar to issue 110217 for OO Writer.

When copying and pasting a cell the paste buffer isn't overwritten when copying
data from another application such as a web browser. The paste buffer always
contains the last copied data from Calc rather than the data copied from the
external application. This happens often, but I have not yet determined how to
reproduce it on demand. It happens more often when copying a whole cell rather
than selected the data within the cell. One way to clear the buffer is to copy
selected data from any cell and then copy data from the external application.
This never happened using Windows XP, but I may have been using 1 OO earlier
revision.

AW->IHA: Polygon output now goes pretty direct to the sub-system, e.g. on WIN32
to GDI+, so this is very system-dependent. For fat lines (that's the most time
consuming part) we added some faster and more direct trapezoid decomposer which
is needed for AAed rendering. HDU can tell in which version this is used now, i
am currently not sure. Setting HDU on cc.
Just did a fast profiling on WIN32, most time is spent inside the GDI+ methods
(in the OS).

AW: Basic reason for this failure is not the order in which groups are used, but
that for the source object (the one who is about to be modified) the creation of
the polygon data does not merge when more than one polygon is used (e.g. for
objects with fat lines, two objects are used). Fixing this leads to working
calculations.

Working as currently defined: All the area of the source shape (including fill,
line and text) is merged and all the other shapes (also merged) get computed
(e.g. subtract). This leads to a result with no linestyle and the correct
outline in respect to thea reas involved.

The question is now: What result is expected? Would it be more expected that
just the object fill geometry gets logically processed and that the attributes
(including line style) from the source shape gets copied? What to do when text
is involved? What to do when from a filled source a shape only with a fat line
gets subtracted?

cl->aw: The only push&pop on sd level is going on in
SdDocPreviewWin::updateViewSettings.

I suspect pView->SdrPaintView::CompleteRedraw(&aVDev,aRedrawRegion,&aRedirector)
somewhere throws an exception (something like a null pointer access) and that
keeps the pop from beeing called. Therefore the assertion is not the root cause
but a symptom of the root cause.

I reproduce slow down for moderate tables. I have an old PC (512 MHz Celeron), 
but creating and resizing of moderate tables (like 10x10) in Writer works fast. 
But after moving table from Writer to Impress, it takes about 30 seconds to 
resize one column or row! 

During resize process, I see some stages with "blurring" text - maybe some sort 
of resize "animation" causes speed problem?
