The OnOpen function is associated with the "Document open" event. I run a
command like "soffice.bin
test.odf" expecting to end up with a test.ppt. The test.ppt file does get
created (as can be seen by the
output) but the OOo process crashes. The seg fault information while running
under GDB is shown below.
I tried a few variations like calling "document.dispose()" first, but nothing
has worked so far. Is there any
other way to close OOo from PyUno?

Various langpacks are still on harddisk. 3) I start OpenOffice and when I click Text Document or Spreadsheet button I got "Enable JRE" warning. If I click No button(*) same warning is still there. After about five clicking I see empty document as normal. I have not tested if working is normal. If this warning is displayed only once I think you can tolerate it. But now it is defect I think. However, upon closing the document, the file gets truncated and is left behind with a length of zero bytes. The bug has been experienced in Calc and Writer, leaving room for the assumption that all OpenOffice components are equally affected. Steps to reproduce: (1) Create new file and store on WebDAV server. The file should be safed successfully. (2) Close the document. Still, the document should be intact. (3) Reopen the document, modify it and save it. Do not close it yet. File is saved successfully. (4) Close the document. The file has now been corrupted and exhibits a size of zero bytes. Reproduced with Apache (Server: Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5.10 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g) and Alfresco 3.2r2. Client side running OS X 10.6.4 with latest patch level. Looking at it in the debugger, OutputDevice::GetTextWidth is being called with a zero length at a position in the middle of the paragraph. This seems to cause Graphite to try to use an out of bounds array index, which causes a crash, when I test it, rather than a freeze. The solution is probably to trap this case and avoid calling graphite, though I need to be careful that the rest of the GraphiteLayout can handle the consequences of not having a segment. N-Up printing takes a multiple number of these and scales it down so it fits on the paper the printer driver currently reports as in use (which is usually A4). If you use N-Up, original size is basically meaningless as N-Up will always scale produced pages. To achieve the originally desired effect (printing 2 A5 pages on one A4, basically unscaled) you would use "Fit to printable page" and then N-Up = 2, furthermore both margin values would need to be 0. However this also did not work reliably depending on the order you switched the options: first setting "Fit to page", then "N-Up = 2" would work as expected, the other way around did not. Having a running word/character count built in is a necessity, and everyone like me, mcdragon, etc. who needs it right now has to use workarounds. Evidently it is not all that difficult to actually do it just by using the existing wordcount macro, which Yawar did four years ago (referenced in other messages: http://yawar.blogspot.com/2006/05/live-word-count-script-for.html). It works well, but it is still a floating toolbar instead of something that starts automatically and nests somewhere in that half-empty status bar. I'm not trying to minimize the actual work that might be involved, since obviously adding this feature requires more than just stuffing a python script into a complex program.
