Now I'm finally enjoying the latest OOo release because icons are again color-coded. I know many users who are finally using 3.2.1 with recolored icons after sticking with 3.2.0 becuase of the monochrome ODF icons. 2- I wonder what problems do you have with sendspace... I think it's one of the best webhosting services on the net. Upload & download is easy and fast. 3- old undesired solution... what are you talking about? I don't understand... we used old 3.2.0 icons in the workaround files not because of their graphic design but just because they were color-coded and were already ready. as many people have already said, the problem about 3.2.1 icons was not their design or the ODF tag... the only problem was the monochromatic background that made different applications file types very hard to distinguish... the title of the issue is indeed "bring back color codes" and not "bring back 3.2.0 design". if the OOo team had released 3.2.1 ODF tagged icons with color coded backgrounds (green --> Calc. orange --> Draw etc. etc.) nobody would have complained at all. 4- integration of color coded icons in next release. I don't see exactly were's the technical issue about asking your icon designer just to recolorize the 3.2.1 icons with the usual color associations we had in past releases. as you may see some users here attached here some examples of recolored 3.2.1 icons. as I said in previous post, I understand your aim was to promote the ODF brand but you did it in the wrong way making many users angry (222 vote speak by themselves). just keep the ODF tag on each icon and just change background colors. it's so easy... no rocket science knowledge is needed to do that. 5- regarding the icon swap as an extension I do not have technical knowledge to pack those files as an extension, but I think that there should be at least somebody able to do it among the OOo developers. 6- thanks for feedback. you are the only one of the OOo team who's spending time answering users requests in this issue page. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Now that that's out of the way, the problem is, OO.o has repeatedly "frozen" on me. At times the desktop shortcut will do nothing at all when I click on it, I can go into the Programs and try to directly open OO.o from the program folder and nothing happens, I can go to a document and try to open the OO.o document and nothing happens. The only thing that fixes it is if I shut down and re-start my computer which is a bit of a pain. This happened with the previous version of OO.o that I had and then I uploaded the 3.2 and it happened again. I have a Dell and am running Vista. I don't know very much about the OpenOffice community yet, but if this bug is any indication, things are in really bad shape. What are you people arguing over? Surely not the fact that this bug is vitally important... because if there was any doubt, I'm here to reassure you that, as an average user of OpenOffice and a former user of Calc (who wishes to become one again), this feature is extremely important and should get immediate attention above all else-- even bugs! I can deal with bugs, but this leaves me with no options aside from switching back to a closed source program. And I'm using Ubuntu, so that means I have to set up Vbox and involves a ton of work-- if I had any alternative, I wouldn't switch. When I'm not using it for anything important, I'll still use Calc. But because this has been “sitting on the self” for many years now, without apparently even a glance from the developers (who I'm starting to think may not even pay attention to anything other than Writer...) This morning I cannot reproduce the problem. This happened before; the problem clears after several file recovery attempts, but then the problem occurs again. THERE IS STILL A BUG!! 1. OOo hangs on "find & replace" as described. 2. I kill with "kill ". 3. I reopen the file; OOo goes through the recovery process. 4. I start another "find & replace"; the ASCII string searched is irrelevant. 5. GOTO step #1. After about seven or eight or more iterations of the above scenario the problem will clear. Once I "cleared the file" by upgrading from OOo 3.2.0 to 3.2.1 and writing one additional space character at the end of the file (maybe coincidence; I can't verify that the extra space was the solution). But then the hang occurred again upon a subsequent "find & replace" operation. User "es" asks the questions below in Issue #113556: - If you hit Enter or Escape does it cure the problem? ANSWER: Right now, the search dialog disappears on Escape. - do you have 2 monitors? ANSWER: Do you mean two windows open on the same file? What is a monitor? Once I did have two windows open on the same file and the first "find & replace" hung. But I only had one window open during this last occurrence. - can you try to grab the title bar of the main window/Find dialog and move them to see if the warning does not appear beneath them? ANSWER: NO! When OOo hangs, IT IS DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!! EVERYTHING is DEAD... I suppose it hardly matters, since the space after the symbols was already too big--making it a bit larger hardly makes it any worse. After posting this report yesterday, I starting playing with the new user dictionary interface in M85 (the default for new user dictionary files has changed from binary to UTF-8). There are bugs there, too, which may possibly be related to the casing errors. So, please don't treat the following as a separate bug report (it's in the wrong place for that, I know), but instead as a clue to the possible cause of the casing errors. In short, when I add a word to a user dictionary that contains a double-byte character (eg a letter combined with an unusual accent, such as dot underneath), or if the user dictionary already contains such words, things start getting buggy: in some cases, an *incomplete* copy of the last word in the list gets appended to the dictionary; in other cases, the word is not added to the selected dictionary at all, but to another one. Again, I'm not a programmer, but if I were to bet on it, I'd guess there's a possibility that both sets of errors are caused by a bug in a text parsing library used by both the casing and user dictionary routines. Reason for saying this is that all the errors - casing and dictionary - appear to involve miscalculating text bounds. The parallel is particularly compelling when comparing Capitalize Every Word's mangling of text with ligatures (which could be counted as one, two or more characters), to the dictionary parser's mangling of user dictionaries that contain non-compiled characters with combining accents (which could also be counted as one, two or more characters).
