[sw-issues] [Issue 115560] Printing multiple pages p er sheet uses only 3/5 of the page

Do the following: 1. Type a text in writer (some lines should suffice) 2. Right click page and select Page... 3. Set format to A5 and Orientation to Landscape 4. Select File--Print... 5. Click on Page layout 6. Change pages per sheet to 2 7. Go back to General. In previous version of OO (pre-3.3), I could set Number of copies to 2 and two landscape A5 pages were printed on one Portrait A4 page. Now this doesn't work anymore. Therefore, I: 8. Set pages to 1,1. The preview shows the page as it SHOULD be. After clicking print, however, the printer prints the document on the lower left part of the A4 page using only 3/5 of the space of the A4 page (so the result is much smaller and a lot of paper is wasted). If it is not supported to achieve this by setting pages to 1,1 (which would be a pity), the preview should reflect this correctly. So there's definitely some bug here. And this bug was introduced with the new print dialogue (I could achieve the desired behavior in earlier versions of OOWriter). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 115561] automatic deletion of lea ding spaces in bulleted list
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=115561 Issue #|115561 Summary|automatic deletion of leading spaces in bulleted list Component|Word processor Version|OOo 3.2.1 Platform|Unknown URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|hardy314 --- Additional comments from hardy...@openoffice.org Sat Nov 13 16:16:13 + 2010 --- This behavior happened in OOo 3.2.1 under WinXP SP3. Here is how to produce the behavior: 1. create a new and empty Writer document 2. switch on the bulleted list (by pressing the appropriate icon) 3. type one line of text (for example: ABC ) switch to the second line WITHOUT finishing the bulleted section i.e. press Shift-Enter 4. type a second line of text, let it start with several spaces (for example: xxx) 5. Now the display looks like this: o ABC xxx 6. now press Enter to finish the line and the section 7. result: the leading spaces in the second line will be deleted automatically. The display changed to this: o ABC xxx I do not like this behavior because I often format bulleted lists in this manner. It's the easiest way to generate indented lines in such a list. I know that this method is not at all a clean way of formatting a text, to just use spaces. I also know that there are other more elaborate ways of creating indentation, but they are much more cumbersome and time consuming. And I would like OOo to behave in a consistent way and let me do my formatting the way I like. This automatic leading space deleting does NOT happen if I do the same thing outside of a bulleted list. (Just skipt item 2. in the above recipe.) And the automatic leading space deleting can be switched off under Extras-AutoCorrectionOptions-DeleteSpacesBetweenLineBeginningAndLineEnd . Maybe this is just an effect of this Autocorrection option. But then, why does is not happen outside of the bulleted list? If this behavior is really only an action of the AutoCorrection I would propose to let it act consistently, I'd like the same behavior inside and outside of lists. And I would propose to set the default setting of this option to OFF, unless someone can explain to me what good it normally does. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [framework-issues] [Issue 115563] Usability tweaks to Spec ial Characters dialog
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=115563 Issue #|115563 Summary|Usability tweaks to Special Characters dialog Component|framework Version|1.0.0 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|ui Assigned to|tm Reported by|jurf --- Additional comments from j...@openoffice.org Sat Nov 13 17:34:05 + 2010 --- Feature request: tweaks to Special Characters dialog This issue requests three minor changes to the Insert | Special Characters dialog, all intended to improve usability. Should these requests be programatically distinct, feel free to split the issue. 1. At present, when a character is selected, the dialog shows a zoomed view of the character, and its Unicode value. The request is for the character's Unicode name to be shown as well (eg LATIN SMALL S WITH DOT BELOW), as per Unicode's scheme (see http://unicode.org/Public/UCA/5.2.0/allkeys.txt - a more recent version may exist). The enchancement removes confusion between visually similar but semantically very different characters, which can be indistinguishable depending on font design, hinting, and/or screen resolution. For example, can you tell the difference between these: ᾽ ᾿ ’ ʼ ̓ ̕ ? (if this looks corrupt, your font lacks some of the characters) 2. At present, the zoomed character view and Unicode value are only shown when a glyph is actually selected (and thus added to the selection string). The information would be more usefully displayed before character selection, meaning on mousing over. 3. At present, the dialog's Delete button clears the entire selection string; kinder would be for it to clear only the last character added. If implemented, Undo might be a better button label. However, in some filetypes in Windows 7, the OpenOffice items are duplicate. I have never seen such behaviour in XP (I didn't test Vista). I reprocedure the issue by installing trail version of Win 7-en and default install of OO3.3rc4-en (no updates and no other apllications installed). Duplicates can see for filetypes: doc (2 items of writer), rtf (1 writer - OK, 2 calc - wrong), xls (2 calc), docx (2 writer) and xlsx (2 calc). odf is OK (1 writer). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
