I installed the Eng US langpack on top of my Swedish OOo 3.3RC5 install. After switching the UI language to English the Toolbar and menu appear as expected. When I switch back to Swedish they disappear. I think that a default fall back to English is to be preferred. In that way the extensions show up as expected and there are a lot of extensions that are not translated to that many languages. Some characters may not display or print correctly. The font show up as dots in the PDF. When I look at Properties in Reader, it says the following for the Formata Bold font: (A for Adobe) Formata Bold Type: Type 1 Encoding: Built in Actual Font: Unknown Same problems with Formata Regular. These are legitimate Adobe fonts that I've had for so long that they came on 3.5 floppies. I tried a simple two-line document, one line using Formata Regular and one using Formata Bold. I had the problem with both fonts. They show up as dots in the resulting PDF. Further problems: If I cut past from the PDF file and drop the dots into an OO Writer document, they reappear as the text of the original Formata fonts, although the regular font is now bolder, but not quite as bold as the actual Bold version of the font. Also, looking at the windows for the font name and point size, the fonts that were just pasted back from Reader are slightly smaller in size than the original text (11.5 pts vs. 12 pts), and the names appear as follows: Formata;Formata (it should be Formata Regular) Formata;Formata Bold (It should be Formata Bold) I have many documents that use the Formata fonts, both Bold and Regular, so I don't want to have to edit all of them to use a different font. I have one file which raises the assertion of issue 114579 assertion: sentence indices out of range before the assertion I am documenting here. If I leave the first dialog box open for several seconds, I hear two or three more beeps but the program opens the file without displaying any more assertions, and at least once the program raised no assertions the next time I opened the file. Is the dependence on timing grounds for raising a separate issue? In a comment to issue 91658, mst mentioned this assertion and said he hopes that someone has filed an issue. I do not see exactly that issue, so am filing this one. However, along the way, I did find related issues. (*) 91658 ERROR : No browse width available, as I mentioned above. It is now CLOSED FIXED, cws sw33bf04, integrated in DEV300_m82. (*) Issue 44083 ERROR SVRect() ohne Width oder Height, NEW. I am guessing that it is different because it arose in Base from menu option Insert Report. Please feel free to mark this issue a DUP if you think that is more helpful. (*) The assertion appears 25 times within the log information in issue 90, status NEW. (*) The assertion appears once within the log information in issue 97, STATUS NEW. (*) I have notes from the time of DEV300_m88 suggesting that this assertion is related to issue 110234 'ERROR : SwNoTxtNode::SetObjTitle(..) - missing SdrObject instance'. As I use Slackware (13.1) I wounder if it is a failing dependency or something. Tried to check with ldd but the only thing I found was some missing kde3 libs. Since Slackware uses kde4 I installed kde3 compat libs and that solved the missing dependency but Impress crashes just like before. I opened a file containing PNG images, edited out some text, and all the images were fine when I scrolled around. Instead of Find Duplicates I used Resolve Duplicates under the edit menu. But this turned out to not be worth the time. This selected only one version of each font. However I found that the selections were not very rational. For example, I would have three copies of a font with different copyright dates. It would select only one of each variant - normal, bold, italic, Bold italic. but sometimes it would select different copyright dates or unique name. Like regular from 2007 and italic from 2001. So I went through each font family, selected any font older than 2005 (apparently os X had dragged fonts along from my mac purchased in 99) and deleted them. You have to look through the dates in the different fields by selecting Preview/show font info as sometimes the unique name date is older than the copyright date. For example a font family with a 99 version a 2001 version and a 2007 version of Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. Select any one of the older ones, for example 99 regular, and press delete, then ok. All four subfonts from 99 are deleted. I cleaned out half my fonts this way. Remember to also check User in the Collection Column. I think what helped the most was deleting an ancient symbol font that was in my User collection which made the one under Computer the only Symbol font. This remaining symbol font is copyright 1990-99 Apple, but the unique name is Symbol;6.1d7e3; 2008-05-12. So it appears to be a TT font from 2008. After deleting everything older than 2005 I did not have any duplicates to resolve. I deleted a lot of old fonts I had never used anyway and do not expect to miss them. I followed the instructions on how to setup the fonts for bullets on the link I gave above. I then opened a document that had given me problems and it looked fine in word and openoffice. Bullets were actually bullets! Clean out all those old fonts using the show information option and make sure you have a modern symbol font.
