When I pass this file through the validator at
http://tools.odftoolkit.org/odfvalidator/ it tells me that it is valid. The
"result" you quote does not make sense. Which "empty file" is it referring to?

What I mean with "scrollbar"?

I will be attaching a picture of the file as expected.

I will be attaching an ODF file that contains a single line plot. The x-axis
should have labels taken from the sheet:

These labels don't show when opened by OOo.

Note that in ODF1.1:
"10.10 Categories
The element element represents the range of cell addresses
that contains the captions for the categories contained in each series.
The element may contain a table:cell-range-address that denotes the region from
which the category labels are taken from. If this attribute or the
element is omitted the application will evaluate the
chart:data-source-has-labels attribute."

ODF1.2CD5 has a similar text.

(The file in question does not have a chart:data-source-has-labels attribute but
with the presence of the chart:categories> element and its
table:cell-range-address attribute it is not needed.)

I will be attaching a file that contains a single straight line:

the top left end point of the line should appear at
x2="218.26pt", y2="125.26pt" which would be 7.7cm and 4.42cm

When opened with OOo3.3m3 The top corner is misplaced significantly to the right
at about 8.5 cm and towards the bottom at 5.1cm

I probably should have mentioned that this is related to issue 114416. OOo doe
snot appear to create a control unless an implementation is specified. The file
attached to this issue was created with OOo's scrollbar implementation name
given (in the hope that OOo would use default settings). I was surprised to see
OOo crash instead.

Without the implementation specified, OOo seems to simply ignore this control.
That is issue 114416.

What about the 3rd issue:

upload:///scrollbar.ods/content.xml[2,5763]:Error:"control1" is referenced by an
IDREF, but not defined.

Note that ODF1.2CD05 has in
"An element shall not have an form:id attribute if it has no xml:id attribute
value. The value of a form:id attribute shall equal the value of an xml:id
attribute on the same element."

The form:value-range element in ths file has a form:id attribute but no xml:id
attribute.

Use OOo to create a simple file containing a single scrollbar (see attached
file). Running this file through the ODF validator yields:

upload:///scrollbar.ods/styles.xml[2,2058]:Error:attribute
"style:decimal-places" has a bad value: "-1" does not satisfy the
"nonNegativeInteger" type
upload:///scrollbar.ods/content.xml[2,3474]:Error:element "form:form" is missing
"type" attribute
upload:///scrollbar.ods/content.xml[2,5763]:Error:"control1" is referenced by an
IDREF, but not defined.
upload:///scrollbar.ods:Info:validation errors found
upload:///scrollbar.ods:Info:Generator: OpenOffice.org/3.2$Linux
OpenOffice.org_project/320m12$Build-9483

I believe the first item has already been fixed (or is only present in Debian
sid's version of OOo.)

The readme file in the OOo download at openoffice.org calls the version included
in the OS distributions the native version, versus the community version
downloadable at openoffice.org. That would mean that I used the native version
(and 3.2.0 is the newest available in ubuntu).

I don't really know what "native OOo 3.2.1" means other than to use a slightly
newer version.

In any case the file should be easy to recreate in any version. There is nothing
strange or special I did but just asked for the appropriate chart style.

regina: the zip wrapping problem is due to a bug in the underlying library which
was fixed last April. OpenOffice 3.2 opens these files fine though. (After

I will be attaching a sample file with a LINEST calculation. Note that the 3rd
argument is 0, ie. the regression line is known to pass through the origin.
OpenOffice calculates a F value of
1023201.45304532

I believe this to be incorrect. According to R the F value ought to be 2.03e+06.

@od: You wrote: "The usage of attribute style:writing-mode as an table cell
attribute is not valid regarding ODF 1.1".

Where do you see style:writing-mode as an table cell attribute? It is used as a
style:table-cell-properties attribute, which is allowed according to ODF 1.1
15.8 & 15.8.13.

The saved file contains:
#NAME?

I guess I was to hasty to say that "It should either preserve the old values, or
not include values at all!" but what Openoffice is currently doing is not
correct:

OpenOffice clearly obtains #NAME? ie. an error value as the result of trying to
attmpt this calculation. According to 4.5 of the ODF 1.2 draft:
"In an OpenDocument document, if an error value is the result of a cell
computation it shall be stored as if it was a string. That is, the
office:value-type of an error value is string; if the computed value is stored,
it is stored in the attribute office:string-value."

So it is incorrect to use: office:value-type="date"
office:date-value="1899-12-30".

(It would be my perhaps incorrect interpretation that OOo could claim it was
unable to perform any calculation, in that case I think it should store the old
value.)

So this might in fact be the same bug as issue #102958 which hasn't drawn any
attention since I filed it last June.

When OOo encounters unknown function names it resaves the document with
incorrect values. (It should either preserve the old values, or not include
values at all!)

According to the OpenFormula draft:
Implementations should write function names in all upper case when saving to a
document.

OOo fails to do that for function names it doesn't know.

I have attached a sample ODF file containing unknown function names. When OOo
resaves this file it saves those unkown function names in lower case.

OOo saves the function EASTERSUNDAY in ODF files as
table:formula="of:=EASTERSUNDAY(2009)"
Since the OpenFormula draft in fact does not define this function, either the
used namespace is incorrect or the name of the function as stoerd is incorrect.
I believe it should be
table:formula="of:=ORG.OPENOFFICE.EASTERSUNDAY(2009)"
according to "5.7 Nonstandard Function Names" of the current OpenFormula Draft.

According to the current OpenFormula draft:

Portable Constraints: X must contain at least one Roman numeral, and only
contain Roman numerals. X must convert to 3999 or less
Semantics: Converts the Roman numeral to Number. This is the reverse of ROMAN;
see ROMAN for the values of individual Roman numeral symbols. Any Roman symbol
to the left of a larger symbol (directly or indirectly) reduces the final value
by the symbol amount, otherwise, it increases the final amount by the symbol's
amount. Case is ignored.

So =ARABIC("IVX") fulfills the portable constraints and should result in 4, but
it does result in Err:502

I will be attaching an ODF file that contains 2 cells (A1,A2) with conditional
data formatting. Calc fails to read that conditional format.

Of course according to the ODF 1.1 standard (10.2) this should not be necessary:

"The svg:width and svg:height (see section 9.2.15) attributes define the extent
of the entire chart. If they are omitted, the size of the chart is determined by
the size of the window in which the chart is displayed."

I would think that if calc can't read the replacement graphic then it should
just render the chart itself (which it apparently can do but chooses not to do
at this time.) So I would thin kthat this is a bug not just an enhancement
since it does not depend on the ability to render svg graphics.

PS. Note that ODF 1.2 committee draft 2 revision 1 even states:
"Note: While the image data may have an arbitrary format, it is recommended that
vector graphics are stored in the [SVG] format and bitmap graphics in the [PNG]
format."

So the provided format is in fact the preferred vector format.

same conditional format is used for all cells in a column.

When calc reads this file it recognizes that conditional formats are in place
but fails to use the corresponding styles.

Enter   =PI()*100 in both A1 and A2
Format A1 to [MM]:SS and
format A2 to SS:[MM]

as expected cell A1 shows 452389:21 and A2 shows 21:452389

now save the file, close the application, restart the appication and reopen the
file:

A1 still shows 452389:21 and has the format [MM]:SS attached to it.

A2 incorrectly shows [21]:11 and has the format [SS]:MM attached to it.

Openoffice.org files claim to be ODF 1.22 with OpenFormula. According to the
current OpenFormula draft:

In an OpenDocument document, if an error value is the result of a cell
computation it shall be
stored as if it was a string. That is, the office:value-type of an error value
is string; if the
computed value is stored, it is stored in the attribute office:string-value.
Note that this
does not change an error into a string type (since the error will be restored on
recalculation); this
simply enables applications which cannot recalculate values to display the error
information.

Currently in OOo, calculating FLOOR(-2.5) shows as an error but is saved with
value-type float and value 0, causing other applications to display the
calculated value incorrectly.

This issue refers to version OOO310.m11 (which cannot be selected from the
interface)

According to the OpenFormula draft CEILING and FLOOR only require a single
argument (the second and third argument are optional). OOo yields an error if
only a single argument is given: FLOOR(-2.5) CEILING (-2.5).

When saving diagonal double borders OOo creates invalid ODF files, apparently
due to the misspelling of an attribute value:

upload:///ooborder.ods/content.xml[2,3583]:Error:unexpected attribute
"style:diagonal-bl-tr-width"
upload:///ooborder.ods:Info:validation errors found
upload:///ooborder.ods:Info:Generator: OpenOffice.org/3.1$Linux
OpenOffice.org_project/310m11$Build-9399

There is no such attribute defined in ODF.

I would have attached a sample file but I don't see how I could do that.

An odf file (created by another application) in which styles.xml looks like:
--

--
is being rejected by openoffice.org, stating:
Read Error. Format Error discovered in the file in sub-document styles.xml at
2,0(row,col)
