That's with OOo 330m6 and also with LibreOffice 330m9.

I have a .pptx file, which has - when opened in PowerPoint 2003 a blue
background. If I open it in OpenOffice, the result is the same.

However, after saving the file as .odp and reopening it, OpenOffice shows a
black (top) to white (bottom) gradient-shading background.

That is with OOo 3.1.0 (OOO310m21, build 9319) using openSUSE's package
OpenOffice_org-impress-3.0.99.4-1.2.

If one opens the attached file, one should see:

- Letters and circle in the middle of the image/the middle of the yellow arrow
should be filled by a gradient color (seemingly a bitmap).

- The arrows (red, yellow) should have an array head

- At the far left, one seems some dotted line, which shall not be present.

This is a regression. Using openoffice.org-impress-2.0.4-5.5.25 the filling
worked, arrows were shown and no spurious dotted line.

Sometimes, one types accidentally a word twice, typically affected are articles
when once continues with a flow of thoughts:

The the house is green.

Should give a spell-check message noting that the occurs twice. I am not aware
of any language where using words several times is common and thus I find such
warnings generally helpful. (In, e.g., German such doubling may occur in some
cases if relative pronoun is followed by an article. It can also be used as
stylistic means.)

This is a feature I seriously miss in ispell/aspell/OpenOffice has it occurs to
often and I don't mind false positives - when going through the final version -
as they are easier to ignore (if sparse) than finding such typos by simply
reading the document.

Attached a PowerPoint file. Under Windows with PowerPoint 2003, the graphic is
ok; using OpenOffice_org-impress-2.3.0.1.2-9 of OpenSUSE 10.3 the graphic is
almost ok.

The graphic consists of two plots. The problems are the x-axis (abscissa) tics:
They should be only a few millimetres long, however, in OpenOffice they stretch
over the whole plot.

Basically, it is possible to insert a blank sheet by right clicking and
choosing from the context menu either Screen-Black or Screen-White.

Maybe I do something wrong, but while I can use the pen to write something on
normals slides, I fail to use the pen on the white/black slides.

What I'd like to do is:
- Give a normal presenation, add something with the pen
- insert a page to give some extra bits
- continue with the talk
- question arise - go back and have (maybe depending on a presentation option)
the inserted slides and the other annotations still there.

If I try to record File new or File|New from Template, the macro recorder
does not record anything.

Expected: It records that one wants to create a new document.

Issues: Actions done afterwards - should they be recorded in the new or the old
document. Most likely the user wants to record further actions in the new
document.

This is with Novell/SUSE's OpenOffice_org-2.0.2-27

This is with SUSE's OpenOffice_org-2.0.2-27. The goal is to provide a button for
quick access to new from template. As the macro recorder does not work (issue
66183), I resort to the old technique suggested for OOo 1.0(see URL), which
worked rather nice.

If I run the macro (see url and below), it looks at first sight as if it worked
ok, but: - OpenOffice... rather than Untitled1 - OpenOffice is shown in the
title bar of the window and printing does not work. (It simply does not print).
If I click on the edit button twice (- don't edit, -edit) a dialog window pops
up, stating that one cannot write this document and suggested to open as new in
a new window. (Then the old window shows (readonly) in the title bar. The new
window/document works just fine in terms of Untitledn and printing.)

Sub CallTemplate
  dim oTemplate as object
  dim sTemplatePath as string
  dim mNoArgs()
  sTemplatePath=file:///C:/WINNT/Profiles/des.DOUGAN.000/Application
  Data/OpenOffice.org/user/template/VCC/Memo.stw
  oTemplate = StarDesktop.LoadComponentFromURL(sTemplatePath, _blank, 0,
mNoArgs())
End sub

Currently, one can optionally use the mouse as pen to write on the sheets.

Inspired by
http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Materials-Science-and-Engineering/3-320Spring-2005/VideoLectures/index.htm
(e.g. second or third video, not first video),

I miss:
(a) quick way to change the pen colour (possibly by keyboard or by tiny symbol,
a handful colours is enough)
(b) inserting a blank sheet to draw on (dito)
(c) possibility to save those annotational pen drawings

I have an OLE object with WMF preview. Since I don't have the program, which
created the OLE, I cannot call it to edit the object.

Choosing break apart (or similar Aufbrechen in German OOo), the WMF preview
is converted into single objects. However, the result is not very convincing:

* The linewidth is much too wide
* The texts are distorted:
  - some (esp. subscripts) are stretched
  - fontsize wrong (maybe right, but it needs to be scaled?)
* The (red) rectangular dots have now a round corner (which is ok in this case)

This is OpenOffice_org-2.0.2-9 from SUSE Linux 10.1beta.

I have an OLE object with WMF preview. Since I don't have the program, which
created the OLE, I cannot call it to edit the object.

Choosing break apart (or similar Aufbrechen in German OOo), the WMF
preview is converted into single objects. However, the result is not very
convincing:

* The linewidth is much too wide
* The texts are distorted:
  - some (esp. subscripts) are stretched
  - fontsize wrong (maybe right, but it needs to be scaled?)
* The (red) rectangular dots have now a round corner (which is ok in this
case)

This is OpenOffice_org-2.0.2-9 from SUSE Linux 10.1beta.

This is with SUSE's OpenOffice_org-1.9.125-5 (of SL 10.0).

If I import a XHTML file, the encoding is ignored (UTF-8 is given in the file,
UTF-8 is locale ($LANG), but OOo assumes seemingly ISO-8859-1).

Furthermore, the ?xml ? line is shown verbosely

For encoding, one should probably look at ?xml encoding? if present and
otherwise for the meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html;
charset=iso-8859-1 /
The ?xml ? should never be printed!

My HTML file (read from the filesystem) starts with:
--
?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8 ?
!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd

2005 ---
This is OpenOffice_org-1.9.125-5 of SUSE Linux 10.0.

The PowerPoint file contains graphics, which seem to be in the EMF or WMF
format. (In PP 2002, if choose Edit graphic, it tells me: This is an imported
graphic and no group. Should it be converted into a Microsoft Office drawing
object? [yes/no]. If I choose yes, I can edit the text.)

The file shows a plot consisting of the tics (630, 632 etc.), the legend and
a textbox. In OpenOffice, the background of both the textbox and the legend is
black. One sees the red and blue line of the legend and a c sticks out. Thus
I'd assume that the text is correctly drawn, but that first the boxes are filled
with a black background.

If I ungroup the graphic elements in OOo, then I can select a black-filled
rectangle (and delete it) and I can delete a black-borded rectangle. After that,
the file looks quite ok. (Minor other bugs: The text position is shifted to the
bottom/right with regards to the rectangles to the PP2002 results; and if I
ungroup, the graphic jumps to the top right of the page instead of keeping the
initial position.)

If I save the file in PP 2002 (both normal format and PP 97 format), the file
is correctly imported in OOo.

I'm not sure whether I can attach that file as I have received it in private
mail and as I haven't created that file myself (stripping down does not work,
see above). But I can send this file (275K) by mail if someone wants to
investigate.

The attached presentation looks just fine in normal mode, but if I start the
presentation mode, the color-gradient background is rendered in a funny way: in
principle everything is fine, except there run several white horizontal lines
over the background. (It looks as if the backgroud was created in stripes and a
small space was left before the next stripe starts.)

Besides there is a clipping problem with the embedded WMF. This may or may not
be issue 38985, which is said to be fixed in Presfixes02.
I franckly don't know whether this is part of M87 or not. Please have also a
look.

I have a PPT file which contains an image which is scaled. In the edit mode, it
looks fine, but in the presentation mode it is shown at the original size. In
one case (not shown due to privacy reasons) it simply covers a bigger space, in
the other case (attached file) it is clipped at the extend of the clipped image.

If I PDF export an Impress document with no page transitions set (as one can see
from the slide show), the produced PDF has still a page transition.

Expected: Either no page transition at all -- or, even better, the same/a
similar one as set in Impress. (In my case that give the same result ;)

I have an power point document which uses a poor-man's square root (only front
part of a sqrt, no bar over succeeding characters (sqrt argument)).

On screen everything looks ok, in the print out (postscript/unix) or in the PDF
file, the character spacing is completely wrong and some characters even seem to
be missing.

See attached PDF and ODP files.

Get the document from here:
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/5827/2003sfb240.ppt

Load presentation, start slide-show mode and move along. At some point it
crashes. It happend for me usually around page 9 or 11, but it surely crashed.
In slide-oder mode or in normal mode, it didn't crash here.

The missing equations is issue #13339. But also otherwise the import could look
better - if I recall correctly, it actually used to look better in older
versions (e.g. the title-page text spacing looks better in 1.1.3).

Question: This has been marked as duplicate of
issue 36950 - Text of metafile is not displayed properly while presentation
Does that issue also cover the PDF export issue, reported here?

Or have you confused this issue with
issue 41839 - Text completely distorted - only in presentation mode

I have a presentation file with has a Origin plot embedded. On screen it renders
without any problem, but when I export that file, all text of the graphic is not
exported.
Since I don't have Origin and run OpenOffice 680m74 under Linux, the rendering
is not done by Origin but (seemingly) be the embedded EMF/WMF data.

Expected: Since OO renders it on screen, it should also be able to put it into
the PDF file. (Well, rendering in presentation mode makes problems as well, but
they are different, see issue 41839).

In edit mode, the file looks like that
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/22107/edit_mode.png
The PDF looks the same, but all text is missing (Except: the formula [not in the
plot but is a text object in the presentation] -- and the labels of the upper
right plot, which is a bitmap.)
