OK, I understand now the nuances of this feature being integrated in the later
release and the help being sightly ahead. There is obviously no need for this
issue but to avoid this complaint coming back again I would modify the help
file
in the final release of 3.2 to avoid confusion for the majority of users who
will
most likely not be aware of the feature being integrated in the future release.

I am a bit puzzled here. I did not complain about Go-oo. Let's forget about it.
I withdraw all my references to Go-oo v. 3.1.1 if it is a touchy subject here
for some reason (?).

Now, in the help file of the official distribution 3.2. RC4 in the section:
Function Keys for OpenOffice.org Impress (table labelled Shortcut Keys in Slide
Shows) it says:
"Left arrow or Up arrow or Page Up or Backspace or P -> Play previous effect
again. If no previous effect exists on this slide, show previous slide."
"Alt+Page Up -> Go to the previous slide without playing effects."

The slide show behaviour in 3.2. RC4 (official distribution) is not consistent
with what its help file says because using Left arrow etc. always navigates to
the previous slide, the same as Alt+PgUp (check using the attached slide show).
So to resolve this, something needs to change, the slideshow behaviour or the
help file. Is it unreasonable to expect the program to behave as it says in the
help?

I had a moment to look at this issue 48179. It is basically the same problem as
I described. In 3.1.1 it works fine for me even if it is only called a
workabout
by some people. I was not aware of the history of this feature as I only
started using animated objects recently. I see there has been a long battle to
implement the possibility of rewinding animated objects within the same slide.
I
can only support the opinion that this feature is crucial for any serious
public
use. A also teach large classes and need to be able to control animated objects
back and forth. Otherwise it is MS Office but their equations appear really
ugly
when you animate them so I prefer OO whenever I need to display any equations.
Anyway, the latest DEV300m70 does everything I need for the moment. I would
have
stayed with 3.1.1 but there is a problem with characters overlapping when you
use subscript or superscript with more than 1 letter so I could not use it
either. DEV300m70 does it all so I will continue to use it, although it is not
a
final release.

I use Go-oo distribution of 3.1.1 on Win7 and Ubuntu. As I said before, the
slide show control in 3.1.1 works fine, i.e as described in the help file.

However, in 3.2 RC4 it does not work properly (this is an original
distribution). I am not sure when it appeared (maybe in DEV300m67?). I only
noticed this last week when I was delivering a presentation and wanted to go
back by one step.

... but I just downloaded DEV300m70 and it works fine again! (thanks jbfaure
for the tip)

Sorry, I could not find i48179?

I have attached an example slideshow. When you are on slide 2 and press PageUp,
Left or Backspace it jumps to the beginning of slide 1 instead of going one
animation back.

To clarify. I have OO 3.2 RC4 on Win7 and OO 3.1.1 on Ubuntu and Win7 on
various
machines (work and home). OO 3.1.1 works fine on both systems and 3.2 (on Win7)
is
affected by the problem I have described. I don't have a chance of checking 3.2
on
Linux at the moment but I don't think it should be any different.

In OO 3.1.1 by pressing Page Up, Left, Backspace, etc. it was possible to go
back
to the previous animation on the same slide, but now it jumps right back to the
previous slide (the same as Alt+PageUp). I am not sure if the same happens on
other systems. I have OO 3.1.1 installed on Ubuntu and the slide show keyboard
shortcuts work fine.

The promote demote function of the navigator does not seem to be functioning
properly when heading level display is limited to 1. Any existing subheadings
will not be transferred properly. I have attached a test document to demonstrate
this effect. Open the document in Write, open navigator, limit heading levels to
1 and try to promote Section 3.

In the version DEV3 m30 I found that in Draw all objects created from external
bitmap files (e.g. png or jpg) become invisible when you close the document and
open it again. The object is still there but has no contents as if the path to
the file was lost. This was not happening in m29.
To see this effect open a new Draw document, drop a jpg or a png file into it,
save it, close it, and open it again.

In the attached document Biblio.odt right click on the bibliographic index and
choose "Edit Index/Table". Click on "Entries" tab inside the dialog box and try
Insert something into the Structure of the reference. No matter what field I
choose from the drop down list, when I press "Insert" button it changes to
"Chapter Info" and "CI" is added to the structure instead of the selected field.
Moreover, when you click on the entered "CI" field a few more controls appear
which are not positioned correctly withing the dialog box.

I am running OOo 3.0 Beta m19 and I am experiencing strange indentation in
heading styles. Open a new document, write a few random lines, assign heading 1,
2 and 3 to some lines, save the document. When you open it again you will see
that headings 2 and 3 are indented. I have attached a sample document and 2
pdfs, first produced when the document was originally saved and another one when
it was opened again. This does not happen in OOo 2.4.

I have recently installed Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop and can provide a few more
comments:
1. When I open the attached OO documents MatlabFigure.odt and MatlabFigure1.odt
in Linux they already look wrong, i.e. the same a the exported PDF. I didn't
know this as in Windows they will open fine (but the exported PDF is not OK as I
said before).
2. The Equation.odt document opens fine in Linux and also looks OK when export
it to PDF (unlike Windows system).
3. When I paste a Matlab figure into Word as an Enhanced Metafile and save it
(see my last attachment) then it opens fine (in Linux and in Windows) and
converts fine to PDF (in Linux but not in Windows!)
Does it make any sense? I am not sure... maybe this is something to do with
pasting. In word you have a choice of metafile or enhanced metafile.

I have the following problem. When I change formatting of one word in a
paragraph, say to bold, I can freely copy this change to any other part of the
paragraph (applying it words or individual letters) using Format Paintbrush.
However, when I try to paint the bold-ed text back to normal using unchanged
parts of the paragraph as a source it doesn't work. I am not sure if it is a
feature or a bug but in MSWord it works both ways.

I have attached 3 more files. It appears that the same effect (narrow fonts in
PDF exports) can be seen in Equation objects created in Word. I assume this is
the same issue so I posted it here. However, when I print to PDF using a PDF
printer driver everything is OK. It seems this is not Matlab specific problem. I
hope this is useful.

I have done some more testing and it seems like something is missing in Matlab
generated metafiles. Matlab uses Arial Font by default not a mono spaced font. I
just wanted to check this and went into text properties in Matlab and confirmed
Arial. After copying the Figure again into OO the problem has disappeared, i.e.
generated PDF is fine. I am attaching two more files (odt and pdf) with two
identical Figures, one pasted directly after plotting in Matlab and the other
after confirming Arial Font using text properties of all elements. The font
information seems to be there in the original figure too as you can see these
figures look the same in the OO document but the PDF conversion somehow does it
differently. I am not a programmer so cannot say where the problem is, only
writing my observations. I noticed that I had to confirm text properties
individually for each text component (x label, y label and axes numbers) in
order to fix the whole figure. This is rather tedious so it would be great if it
could be fixed somehow.

There seems to be some problem with fonts when I export a document to PDF
format. This appears only in figures generated with Matlab and pasted as a
metafile. The fonts appear very narrow in these figures when I open the PDF
file. It all looks fine in the original document and I can also print without
any problem. This seems to be common to all applications (text, draw, impress
and calc). I can supply example files if necessary.

I would like to confirm all the above toolbar button defects. I have also
observed this in Calc with the following buttons:
- Left to Right
- Right to Left
- Text direction from left to right
- Text direction from top to bottom

I am currently running OOo 1.9.104 under Windows XP

[graphics-issues] [Issue 49324] Draw doesn't export formula to EMF

For the time being if you need to export formulas to other applications paste
them as Windows Metafiles instead of EMF. This works providing you do not rotate
the text from its default horizontal position.

After some more investigation I found that this problem relates to text objects
in general not only Graph. See my attachment Test1.doc.
1. If you paste from OO 680m95 to any other application as enhanced metafile all
text objects become white.
2. If you paste as Windows metafile all text objects which are not horizontal
become white.
3. If you as bitmap it is fine but resolution is too poor (by the way can I
adjust resolution of the pasted bitmap in OO?).
I hope this helps you to classify and solve the problem. To me it is quite an
important issue as I have to release documents in Microsoft Word but would like
to be able to use OO for drawings flowcharts etc.

When I copy Charts created in Calc application and paste them into Microsoft
Word 2003 all the text is missing (if I use paste as enhanced metafile) or some
text is missing (if I paste as Windows Metafile).
This does not happen when I do it in version 1.1.4 of OO. Also pasting into
Writer seems to be working fine.
