some of the issues for which I voted have been deleted by crossing out the

that issues must be referred to by number. Consequently, I cannot alter any of

You may have to exit OO completely (I do not have the quick starter). You may
also need to exit more than once. I have had the icons recalled on one occasion
but they were distorted.

I am using the ooo build.

I have assigned icons to certain tool-bar commands. When I re-open the
software, the icons have gone and I have verbal summaries in their place.
Examples: Column and row headers (category 'View'), Status Bar (category
'View') and three macro commands.

This is not a duplicate of 29054. That issue concerns the importation of data.

This issue concerns finding and removing the leading apostrophe after
importation. The software should be able to find a leading apostrophe just as
it can find the apostrophe in any other position in the cell.

In Windows, one can evidently find the leading apostrophe with ^' . Not so in
Linux. Even the use of the regular expression ^ should be unnecessary since the
character ' is there and can be found anywhere except at the beginning of text
in a cell.

It seems reasonable for a user to expect that a selection made using the headers
should have the same results as a selection made otherwise.

I can select a row with the row header and apply a style to the entire row - so
there is a selection of the row in some sense at least. If I then use
Shift+Down, the selection becomes the cell in column A and the cell below it.

the issue is, if anything, more pertinent.

Although I currently use a Linux OS which is based on RPM and for which
OpenOffice provides a desktop-integration file, that will not necessarily
continue to be the case.

One question I am now considering is whether to contribute further to the
project by installing the latest build and testing various issues against it. I
will be unable or unwilling to do that if I change to another Linux OS and rely
on its repository for OpenOffice.

As things stand now, OpenOffice is preferring certain distros over all the rest.
If Adobe, Java and Mozilla can each provide an installer which works on all
distros, why can't OpenOffice?

this issue broader than one application.

Although my examples related to the spreadsheet, the problem affects users of
Impress quite acutely as demonstrated in the following message on the Users'

It is not possible on Linux and Windows to use a relative link to refer to other
documents. It may be possible to do so on Mac computers.

Such a feature is necessary when preparing a set of interlinking documents for
distribution to others. It was possible, evidently, in version 1.1.5.

On Linux, such a reference would be in the form ~/container folder/filename.

I filed this issue in response to postings on the users' list and in the forum.

I have the option in question selected.

The following in a spreadsheet cell works:
=HYPERLINK(file:///home/terry/Data/Work/Spending.ods#A.A1;spending)

This does not:
=HYPERLINK(file:///~/Data/Work/Spending.ods#A.A1;spending)

One forum thread on the issue is
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=37541

The effect is that interlinking documents must use absolute references which are
broken, obviously, when the files are distributed to others.

I can confirm from following forum threads and enquiries in the users' list that
requests for a straightforward way to open such files arise frequently.

The present procedure is especially problematic for users who are required to
open many such files. It may seem like a small matter to those of us who are
not in that position but, particularly in a commercial environment, the present
procedure can be an unacceptable time waster.

It requires that the user have the choice of associating the file with the
application to be used and OpenOffice honouring that association.
