------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Mar 15 21:55:14 +0000 2008 ------- I've been using OO for several release and am currently on 2.3.1 on windows XP. Recently I noticed that when I do a right mouse click on the windows desktop and select New, I no longer see menu items that allow me to create new writer documents, new spread sheet documents etc. The only one that is still around is Open Office Drawing. I am not 100% sure, but I believe this problem came up after I ran a program called "crap cleaner" on my system which supposedly cleans up remnants of stuff that I have previously deleted. I know that it goes through the registry and cleans up stuff too. So I figured it screwed up something related to OO in the registry. Sooooooo I did an uninstall of OO. Rebooted my machine, did a re-install of 2.3.1. Rebooted on the hopes that the menu items would be restored. No luck. I can still launch all the applications just fine from the start menu, but it's amazing how irritating it is to not be able to create a new document on the desktop. So while I expect that the problem is the fault of crap cleaner, it would be nice if the OO install/uninstall program was resilient enough to ensure that my new menu items are always created when I run an install (or repair.)
