Record a macro.
Move it from user macros into the document file you're working in.
Map that macro to a keystroke.
Use the keystroke.

You will get an error alert that the macro couldn't be found in the user space.
Evidently the
mapping didn't point at the macro in the file..

There are three problems with the cross-reference list box.

First, the items as the items everywhere in OO, should be sorted in Natural
Order (this is a
two line fix), as in 1, 2, 3, ..., 10, 11 instead of 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, ...

Second, the list scroll position jumps out from under me. 3 screen shots are
attached.
 1. initial condition.
 2. after scrolling down.
 3. after defocusing on the list, and clicking on Figure 2, the list jumps
weirdly.

Third, the dialog should be resizable and should remember the size and position
I used last.

It is absurd to close this bug! It is a nightmare, and it is proven to happen.
You just need to try harder to
reproduce it or to identify what it is about my configuration that causes it or
wait for more people to
chime in to say it happens to them.

All other OOo *non modal* dialogs should be changed, too.

This design causes the following behavior.
  ^F
  Enter some text.
Ooops. The text went into the document
  Undo.

This a very nonstandard way to handle the key that opens the Find dialog. I
have never seen another app
do it. Consequently I have to learn to be extra careful with OO Writer.

I should say that the scroll bar responsiveness is OK, but scrolling is bad
with PageUP, PageDown, and the

When I use the Find dialog, OO Writer usually mangles the display of the text,
causing shear. Attached is
an example.

This is a very bad user experience, and it has been around for a long time.

Actually OOO300m15, but that's not a choice above..

I'm working on a 40-page document on a 2.2GHz MacBook Pro under Mac OS X 10.5.6.

Scrolling even a single page usually takes many seconds. This is excruciating
and totally unacceptable.

Performance is just as bad in Print Layout mode and in Web Layout mode. Zoom is
100%.

Version is actually OOO300m15, but that choice is not offered on this "Enter

+ 2009 ---
Windows apps run under VMWare Fusion on Mac allow their control-key commands to
be issued using
the Mac's Command key (Apple key). That is, almost all do.

OpenOffice does not. It requires that I use the control key for everything.

There must be a recommended API to respond to keystrokes with modifier keys
that OO is not using.

BTW, version is OOO300m15, which is not in the list above.

Change from a large monitor to a small monitor then back again to a large
monitor.

OO's display becomes unusably confused.

There should be no arbitrary limit on how many steps you can undo. Or if you
feel you have to put in
some limit, make the limit 100x bigger than it is now.

The attached document displays a cell with text that wraps to three lines, the
third of which is empty in
the printed output.

On the Mac, there should be a draggable file icon to the left of the file name
in the title bar, and if you
cmd-click on the text in the title bar, a pop-up menu should appear, showing
the folder path to the
document.

Benefit to cost ratio for fixing this bug is very high.

It should be hierarchical. Each menu item (i.e. the item for each kind of
document) should expand to a
submenu where the first item is New and the remaining items are recent
documents.

OpenOffice violates UE guidelines by forcing me to placate the splash screen
before I can do anything;
There should be a preference to make it never show up, but I can't find it.
There should be a way to make it just go away, but I can't find that.
I should be able to open OO and go straight to the File > Open Recent menu item.
