IMHO it's really sad.
This bug/feature request has been open since OOo 1.0 (year 2002).
Now OOo 3.1 has been released and still this annoying behavior has not been
fixed yet.
Personally most of the new and fancy additions in the newer releases is not
being used by most people, while this one is one of the first things you will
hit when using Calc.
So, please OpenOffice-developers, fix it that way which most people expect the
Del key to work...

Frank, OpenOffice is for every user. Expirienced and not-expirienced ones and
I don't see a reason why people should learn things differently for a standard
Calc program.

So, please change the Del-key to just delete the contents without asking.
This is what *every* user expects in all applications (e.g. as well in the
textbox in my browser while I enter this text!).

In Calc (all versions up to 3.0.0 beta) everytime you press the Del keyboard
key in a cell or a range of selected cells, Calc pops up a dialog box in which
it asks the user what should be deleted.

I think from a usability standpoint this dialog box is stupid. If you want to
delete the cell, Calc shouldn't ask, but just delete the contents (Contents,
Formulas and so on). Excel deletes the content as well without asking.
Background color and cell borders should stay, as the user may change this
afterwards.

Strange. Now it suddenly works. I didn't changed anything, but oh well - if it
works it's fine.

Thanks mru !
You may close the bug as fixed with OOO2.0.4...

Hi mru,

Still does not work for me.

I just downloaded this file
ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/ftp.openoffice.org/developer/680_m1/OOo_2.0.1_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz

(the filename is misleading, but it is version 2.0.4) and it still does not
work.
Did you tried it on Linux (I'm using SUSE 10.1) ?
Did you printed to printer (I'm printing to file) ?

Helge

I tried to print a form letter in OpenOffice.org 2.0.3, which I used before in
OpenOffice 1.1.
Now, all fields in the form letter are not filled during printing.
Beside the fact, that form letter printing is IMHO more difficult in 2.0.3, I
get all sorts of errors.
Attached are two TGZ archives. The first one form_letter_OK_in_ooo1.tgz is
OK prints fine in OOO1.1. The second one form_letter_bug_in_ooo2.tgz was
created from the first TGZ, but here I'm not at all able to print a form
letter where the fields get filled.

To reproduce you may either start with the first TGZ or the second TGZ.
(Although starting with the first TGZ file needs more work to use with
OOO2.0.3).

Just an addition since my bug description may be a little confusing:
Neither of the attached documents prints in OOO2.0.3.
