Very good idea!
One more use case: coloring cells in Calc. If i use styles for this operation, i
need to name each style by it purpose: NoteBene, VIP-client, Good, Closed.

So, if i see a small square from left|right of style name (or in stylename
string itself), with actual colors of fill and border - it perfect! Like
diagram legend for hole document.

The name of style should preview: font name, font style (normal, bold, italic),
font color.

Preview of styles - very important step for best usability!

I want to use Calc as data source. Because of its fast calculations power.

In Calc i was create some columns with user functions (see in sample file). Then
create odb. In columns with user functions = zero.

Macros security - doesn`t matter.

This functionality makes ods a very much useful type of data source!!!

Any news?

This bug only part of many bugs with macros in Calc:

1) User functions shuld be placed in Standard library only. It`s horror!
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=53615

2) User functions dosn`t work then Calc uses as data source.

3) Most of Calc functions are disable in Writer and Base. Why?

Dear, chrysten

I think it`s quiet simply.

1) Basic table of whole tree = just a list!

2) UNO AWT based tree-Control should use this list and transform it into tree
object. And visualing it too.

3) Parent, siblings, childs, status of record (hide|unhide) has this control.
But you need only curent selected record to use it with subforms and other
controls.

Optimization is the second step. After alpha realise.

it might be helpful to think of the data model of a tree as a set of nested
subforms.
It`s a wrong way, imho. It`s just special dropdown list.

Agree with others. Non-breaking space, non-breaking hyphen and optional hyphen
logically are non-printable characters.

Addon by subject:

At this time i can`t to set background color of spaces, tabs and end_paragraph
non-printable characters.

And it`s very sad for me and my red eyes :(

And i am not along with my problem. It`s result of discussion in russian OOo
forum: http://community.i-rs.ru/index.php/topic,14423.msg98985.html

RESUME:
1) We need a separate color option for non-printable characters shading. It
will solve the problem of marking all non-printable characters and special
symbols, like non-breaking space, non-breaking hyphen and optional hyphen.
2) We need to group non-breaking space, non-breaking hyphen and optional hyphen
with non-printable characters. It`s much intuitive and comfortable to show|hide
this elements.

I also think, this future needs to be implemented into OOo interface. It could
be a [dropdown] history list (path part of recent files list) or some quick
editable favorites. Or some else variant.

But some type of files saves history *mast to be*, imho.

We are very need a OOo Base control to access to hierarchical data (like
site-tree, file-tree, categories hierarchy, etc).

UNO AWT based tree-Control can be added only in dialog, not in form. And it
require a lot of code to connect to data source. This is not decision for
everyone.

That`s could be fine: select tree control from panel, put it in form, select
source_name, id, parent_id and title on control`s properties-data source
page and just use the result.

Some conventions can make an interface easier. For example:
first field: title, second field: id, fird field: parent_id

Then we`ll need only table name in tree-control settings.

P.S. sorry for my broken english :-/

I need to insert in my Writer doc some nontrivial calculations. Writer`s
formulas are too poor for me.

1) So, i create my calculations in Calc (calc1.ods) and create OLE-linked frame
in Writer. And some more frames to other parts of the same calc1.ods... After
save (writer1.odt) and reopen, all my OLE-frames shows to me ONE place of the
calc1.ods.

2) I`ve tried to create many OLE-frames to ONE embedded Calc, but it is
impossible. Why i need to create a hundreds of separate embedded calc docs, when
i can create one with all needed data?

It`s a bug, IMHO.

Configure trusted folder for my macroses (~/path1).
After that create ~/path1/writer1.odt and ~/path1/calc1.odt

Then create simple macros with any trivial function. Save macros in
~/path1/calc1.odt and call this function from ~/path1/calc1.odt

Then create OLE-link from ~/path1/writer1.odt to ~/path1/calc1.odt (show cell
with this function).

You will see an error, because of macros security restricts. OOo can`t
understand, that called macros placed in trusted folder! Both documents are in
trusted folder!

Saving macros in ~/path1/writer1.odt don`t helps too. :(

1) Open form master_table and just try to change selection in master table.
2) After that enter some text in the field name of subform.
3) Click enter.
4) First line of subform will be without default value 10.
5) Add some name text in second line. Enter.
6) Second line have default value 10 in the field_with_default.
7) Change selection in master form. Repeate 2-6.

If i use postgresql backend, field_with_default of all sublines will be emply.
And it`s right for all types of controls.

If i try to filter postgresql table by field of date type, OOo change trivial
sql like:

SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE date_type_col = '2009-01-01'
by
SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE date_type_col = {D '2009-01-01'}

Postgresql doesn`t like that syntax.

If i`ll try to use native SQL, filters are off... :(

Can you filter that syntax in postgresql-sdbc driver?

Thank you!

One more question: can i set this option off by default in OOo 3.1 anyway? May
be in some config file?

looks in 3 variants in pdf-file.

This problem of 3.1 version, in 2.4 and 3.0 - all looks fine.

I need to enter ONE image (gif, png, jpg) into many (for example, 100 times)
places of document (may be odt, odp, odg). It`s may be a button, list marker,
horisontal line, etc...

At this time i need to embed 100 images in my document, because i can`t use
internal base of images. It`s quiet wrong, IMHO.

I need to have ability for embeded images:
- add,
- remove,
- replace by other image from gallery/filesystem,
- edit (apply graph filter, crop, etc),
- make a link (one more enter in document), hyperlink, copy of image
- extract from file into gallery/filesystem,
- use as background in my styles,
- view|navigate by all links to this image in document.

I can make souch links by manual:

  text:p text:style-name=Standarddraw:frame draw:style-name=fr1
draw:name=Graph1 text:anchor-type=paragraph svg:x=1.09cm svg:y=0.381cm
svg:width=0.847cm svg:height=0.847cm draw:z-index=0draw:image
xlink:href=Pictures/12010020002018DFD177.png xlink:type=simple
xlink:show=embed xlink:actuate=onLoad/
/draw:frame/text:p
   text:p text:style-name=Standarddraw:frame draw:style-name=fr1
draw:name=Graph2 text:anchor-type=paragraph svg:x=5.272cm svg:y=1.272cm
svg:width=7.488cm svg:height=6.641cm draw:z-index=1draw:image
xlink:href=Pictures/12010020002018DFD177.png xlink:type=simple
xlink:show=embed xlink:actuate=onLoad/
/draw:frame/text:p

And it works. Need the interface...

[sw-issues] [Issue 5608] Navigation button on OOo fo r hyperlink navigation (provide browser-like b ack/forward buttons)

I think that forward/back link and navigation history (may be one list for back
and forward like in Firefox3) are VERY NEED in mechanism of hyperlinks. It is
RELATIVE context of navigation. Like '16.08.2008' vs 'tomorrow'. Feel the
difference! It`s not just undo/redo option (very important too) - it`s other
abstraction. Other philosophy. Other document working technics.

You have to implement relative navigation, if you are using hyperlinks. IMHO.

Thank you.

May be you can do measuring lines as one more type of connecting lines?! It coud
be a best variant, imho.
