[dba-issues] [Issue 53310] Base Table design: Shift- space selects entire table column
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=53310 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Aug 15 10:55:37 -0700 2005 --- This behaviour is by design. Could we improve the design at this point? It really does hinder entering mixed case text. 1. Here's the present behavior that trips me. I'm holding Shift to enter capitalized text and hit the Space bar to add a space before the next word (usually in caps, too). 2. Apparently the rule is stateless. How about adding state? 3. Proposal (casual spec): Merely holding Shift down doesn't cause Space to be treated as column select. Instead, Space immediately after pressing (and while holding) Shift is treated as column select. (That is to say, if Shift was already pressed down when the PREVIOUS key was typed, then Space while Shift is down simply enters a space, the same as if Shift were up.) 4. Proposal (alternate): Require holding the RIGHT Shift key down while pressing Space bar, since many touch typists heavily use the left Shift key for typing (as distinct from a mouse substitute). The cursor (green triangle) jumped to the row following the last (e.g. 45th) row. I did not get a blank row anywhere near where I intended. There is no data in the table yet. I intend to attach the table to this issue. Dick Rawson - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [dba-issues] [Issue 53306] New - Base, Table Design, comments sometimes disappear after save

After saving, the fields were cleared. This happened at least twice with the same fields! I reproduced the problem this way: 1. Enter comment into the column following Field Type. 2. Save 3. On a different field's line, change the Field Type. 4. Save. The comment field of step 1 above changed to blank. Other sequences, only slightly different, don't make the comment vanish! I intend to attach the Table file where I can show this behavior. It is the same file as attached to Issue 53304. [dba-issues] [Issue 53310] New - Base Table design: S hift-space selects entire table column
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=53310 Issue #:|53310 Summary:|Base Table design: Shift-space selects entire table |column Component:|Database access Version:|OOo 2.0 Beta Platform:|PC URL:| OS/Version:|Windows XP Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|DEFECT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|none Assigned to:|dbaneedsconfirm Reported by:|drawson --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Aug 14 18:10:39 -0700 2005 --- In the database table design window, if I hit the space bar while holding the Shift key, the whole column is highlighted (as if selected), instead of inserting a blank character. Maybe this comports to the rules of some graphical user interface that I've never seen, and so is working as desired. For me, it sure violates the user- interface principle of least surprise. It violently interrupts my attempt to type some upper-case letters in the mixed-case Description column. I hope it's considered to be a bug and can be fixed as such.
