Open a terminal and run 'free -s 1' to view memory usage. 2. Start OOo. 3. Open a new text document. 4. Right click - Page... - Background tab, select 'As Graphic' 5. Browse - select a transparent png image - OK 6. Done formatting background, select OK. 7. Begin typing or scroll the page. This causes OOo to consume much more memory than usual; within a few paragraphs OOo begins to swap to disk and thrash, leading to system instability. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Other things to note when trying to reproduce this bug: * I'm running Slackware 11.0 with all of the -stable patches through 2007-03-26. This includes X.org 6.9.0 and libpng 1.2.16. * OOo was packaged and installed using the build script at slackbuilds.org. * It may take a few seconds of scrolling and/or typing to trigger the problem. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
