Annoying is that this height recalculation happens on various occasions during
saving, some other editor tasks, so it should be come a bug i.s.o. enhancement.

It makes Calc unusable.

It goes away when I disable 'wrap text automaticly', but that is not handsome
when one has large texts in one column...

When I have a formula on a row like 'B11-SUM($B$2:B11)' and I copy/move the row
with Ctrl-Alt / Alt and mouse, the range is not well preserved and the row above
the target location is also effected. The result becomes like
'B12-SUM($B$2-B13)' Note the difference between B12 and B13. The latter should
also read B12.
See attached Writer document with detailed instructions and screen-shots.

Despite the speed improvements for hidden notes I observed t extreme performance
degradation when having a sheet with lots of hidden notes This is during
loading, saving and a generic change to apply e.g. default formatting (Ctrl-M).
In the case when I select the sheet and change all the rowhight for all the rows
at once the csrss.exe (Windows XP SP3) goes to 80% and OOo takes the rest. One
thread of OOo consumes all this time. I sampled a few thread stack traces with

Issue 113724 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. I understood that
this issue is available in build 330m7. I tested today with 330m8 and found that
display of query result of query with joins of two tables are still failing in
'Base' mode and not in 'Native' mode. I added an attachment to issue 113724
(http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/71929/issue113724.odb)
 to
show the issue. Two queries simpleBase and simpleNative. I played with various
field types to join: int-int, bigint-bigint, varchar-varchar, but all showed
same behavior.

I'm sure whether this issue needs to be reopened or the other one, for not being
a duplicate. The only workaround I've found so far is to make 'views' of all
queries that need to run in Base mode (Queries use to feed SRB (ORB) or
parametrized queries need this).

Maybe not the right place to continue discussion, but I checked issue 114026 and
it states that it is related to use of table aliases. In the example that I've
added to issue 113724, I do not use aliases in the queries, just only a inner
join between two tables. So, might it be possible that this demo database (ref
in two posts above) is tested against dba33j?

I notice that the grouping is shown OK when I open the document with 3.2.1
(OOO320m18, 9502).

Played around and found a scenario with 300m86:
1. Create form via wizard on a table and take a Grid on table.
2. Draw a Rectangle (or other Drawing object, tested not all objects).
3. Make a grouping on both
4. Save and close form
5. Reopen form
Now the drawing object is not shown.

Other observations:
A. When the grouping is on a grid of sub-form and a Drawing object, the grid is
not shown as well until one hovers over the grid with mouse.
B. Not showing control/objects also happens when group is made between other
Form Control and Drawing object.

I've a from with a grouping of three objects. Opening/Editing the form does not
show the objects on the form. Clicking in the area show the boundary markers.

Ungrouping makes all visible.

I tried to make a test cast from scratch but that seems to work. So it might be
compatibility issue.

I copied the form (without any database/tables) to a base from and there it
showed the same behavior. Please find a document attached with two forms: one
with grouping and the other with ungrouping. Form names point to test case.

I've a two table inner join and when running the query in BASE-SQL mode I get
the right number of records, but the data is a copy of the first record
returned. This does not happen when running the query in Native-SQL mode.

This behavior is when I run the query from SQL and when I use the query in a
form.

I experienced this with DB Access, but copying the tables and query to HSQLDB
showed the same issue. I attach a document with screen shots, because the
database contains sensitive data. On request I'll put effort in making a
reproduction database.

@oj: I might misunderstand you about the remark on order by (called 'Sort
Options' in the wizard?). I notice that the selected grouping-columns are also
shown as predefined columns in the SortOptions. The only thing is you can select
the order (asc, desc). It makes however sense to add additional sort columns for
the order of the rows put at the inner grouping level. Those sort-columns are
not related to grouping at all.

It might be handsome to move the selected order (asc/desc) of the grouping
columns to the 'grouping' section in the wizard and leave the sort options for
*aditional* sorting at the inner grouping level.

When I open a report with e.g. a bar-graph and the query for the content of the
bar graph contains more fields in the select clause then needed on graph, the
all fields (Data Series) are shown again when I run the report after removing
some, saving and closing SRB. I noticed this with testing with Base 3.2.1 and
SRB 1.2.0. The Base document was made with OOo 3.1.1 and SRB 1.1.0 and runs fine
in that version.

I also tried the combination OOo 3.2.1 and SRB 1.1.0, but it shows the same
behavior. So it looks like that OOo Base is responsible for the issue and not
SRB itself.

I created a test document issue-nr.odb and a more detailed reproduction
description is found in the attached document issue-nr.odt.

Have a look to this post as well

user is also experiencing problems with grouping in SRB, but is using a MySQL
database and he got the error Every derived table must have its own alias. I
do not have access to MySQL so can not prepare this further.

Have a look to this post 'Wrong data type java exception in jre1.6.0_18' at
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13t=28540
(including workaround/solution). Java has become more strict on date literals
since 1.6.0_17 (or _18).

It can also be reproduced with the internal HSQLDB, and imho depends on the JVM
version only.

I think that OOo should not fix this, but users should know the standards.

When a report is made based on a query accessing MSAccess and this report is
using grouping the following error is generated:
Error:
  SQL Status: S1000
An error occurred while creating the report.
Information:
An exception of type com.sun.star.lang.WrappedTargetException was caught.
Error:
The specified field '`X`' could refer to more than one table listed in the
FROM clause of your SQL statement.
Error:
The specified field '`X`' could refer to more than one table listed in the FROM
clause of your SQL statement.

This error occurs when there is more than one table in the from-clause of query
involved and the field X from the select clause of that query is available in
more than one table.

Possible workarounds are:
1 Edit the report and change the property 'Analyze SQL command': No at the
Data-tab of the root element of the report (Navigator). But than no parameters
can be used.
2 Make from the query derived table and query that. (see Query2 in issueN.odb)

It looks like that when 'Analyze SQL command' is active the Meta-data MSAccess
interface is used, but the implementation or the interface itself has some short
comings.

Please find attached a reproduction document issueN.odb and a MSAccess database
issueN.mdb with N is this case number.

In the reproduction document one can find:
Queries:
Query1: query that joins two tables with same field names ID and Value.
Query2: query that uses Query1 and workaround 2.

Reports:
q1.ReportNoGroup: report bases on query1 without grouping and with 'Analyze SQL
command' is active, so runs fine.
q1.ReportWithGroupingFails: report bases on query1 with grouping on ID and with
'Analyze SQL command' is active, this is failing.
q1.ReportWithGroupingOK: report bases on query1 with grouping on ID and with
'Analyze SQL command' is NOT active, this is OK.
q2.ReportWithGroupingOK: report bases on query2 with grouping on ID and with
'Analyze SQL command' is active, this is OK (workaround 2).

When I've created a Query2 for MSAccess like

SELECT `ID`, `Value`
FROM ( SELECT `T1`.`ID`, `T1`.`Value`
  FROM `T2`, `T1`
  WHERE `T2`.`ID` = `T1`.`ID` ) `X`

and make a report with grouping on field ID the query text is copied to the
report source and extended with an order by. But this fails:

SELECT `ID`, `Value`
FROM ( SELECT `T1`.`ID`, `T1`.`Value`
  FROM `T2`, `T1`
  WHERE `T2`.`ID` = `T1`.`ID` ) `X`
ORDER BY `T1`.`ID`

It looks like SRB is using the meta-data API but this is returning unexpected
information.

For a reproduction see issue 110535. It contains a Base document with the
example Query2 and the corresponding MSAccess database.
1 Make a report with the wizard
2 Select Query 2 as source
3 Select grouping on ID
4 Finish report
5 When one tries to open the report an error is shown.
6 Open report and check the data source query text and note the wrong field
specification on the ORDER BY.

Note that one can also specify in (most?) databases an ORDER BY with
field-sequence numbers according the sequence-number of that field in the SELECT
clause.

This issue is also identified on Dev300m75.

It is remarkable that with internal HSQLDB the following ORDER BY is created in
case of a derived table: ORDER BY SYSTEM_SUBQUERY.ID. So SRB is relying on
the meta data API of the database, and this gives trouble with MSAccess.

The actions described in Moving Cells by Drag-and-Drop with key modifiers
Ctrl, Alt do only work on visible sheet when more than one sheet is selected.
The action applied on the non-visible sheets is as if the key modifiers were not
used.

This is annoying when one want to duplicate rows on multiple sheets at once.

Test process:
- Fill Sheet1 and Sheet2 with some data.
- Select both Sheets, make Sheet1 visible
- Select row 2
- Do a move of row 2 to row 4 (Alt key + right mouse)
- Note that the move did not work on Sheet2 (row 2 is empty and row 4 is
overwritten with data from row 2

(This also the case for DEV300m70)

I can reproduce this with 3.1.1. The issue is likely that when multiple column
sort is enabled, the 'User-defined sort' is applied to all columns, but one
should apply it only to the columns that contain the of that type. So the
'User-defined sort' should become a property of each sort column on the first
tab, or Calc should be smart enough to figure out with column(s) is(are)
according the 'User-defined sort' order.

The next issue will become that an user wants to sort on Month and Weekday, so
to 'User-defined sort' orders are involved

When I create a report with SRB and want to have the MIN or MAX value of a date
field I can create a function in two ways. One is by hand using the code like:
name : MaxD
initial : [D]
function : MAX([D];[MaxD])
The result of this function is two days too less, the same applies to MIN()

One can also create implicit a MAX function by adding a formated field and
select the Date tab on the properties. One can select 'Date Field Type':
'Function' and 'Function' : 'Maximum'. This function is constructed like:
name : MaxD
initial : [D]
function : IF([D][MaxD];[D];[MaxD])
This goes OK.

When one wants to work with a simple 2-value max the latter is a fine
alternative, but with more than 2 values it becomes complex.

See the attached document for more details and run Report 'Q'.

cdruler, your problem is not related to this issue, you do not have the same
column name(s), because you made them all unique by use of aliases. You might
have here an issue, but first step should be to visit forum of OOo. You might
have a look here
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61t=26226.

Default field value(s) not shown in empty subform with Table Control when the
previous record value was not initialized in the sub form of the previous
main-record record.

The following test description based on the sample database might make things
more clear. The sub form has two fields with form-based default values (one text
and one ListBox), both containing the phrase 'default'. When you open the form
'MainSubwithTableControl_Failing' and walk along the records of the main form
look to the default values in the sub form of those main form records that have
any record in the sub form. Some times the default values are displayed and
sometimes not.

Please follow the following sequence of steps through the main table step with
the next-record indicator and note the comments.
Main table | Sub form | Comment
#Record
1| not empty | default values at insert position are not shown
because record position is not at insert position.
2| empty | Default values are shown because records position
 indicator is at insert position.
  3| not empty | see #1
  4| empty | see #2
5| empty | Default values are not shown !!!
  6| empty | see #5
  7| not empty | See #1
  8| empty | See #2
9 insert | N.A. | Do not enter any data. Sub form is empty because
   | main form is in insert mode
  8| empty | See #5

The conclusion is that default values are not shown on an empty subform when the
previous data set on the subform is also empty or missing due to insert mode at
main form.

This does not apply for a non table control based sub form: check with form
'MainSubwithSingleRecord_OK'

Yes, issue is fixed in OOO320m3, 9436, but playing around on from
'MainSubwithTableControl_Failing' did show some side effects or is this other
issue? I got impression that sub form content is not always following main-form:

Open the form, press insert record on main form and try to press next/previous
to abandon insert mode. Continue trying and thinks get locked up.

The error does not only occur when changing the default value, but also when
changing the format of a field, the type of a field, etc.

An other workaround is to execute the statement:
ALTER TABLE bookmark ALTER COLUMN ID INTEGER GENERATED BY DEFAULT AS IDENTITY
(START WITH 100, INCREMENT BY 2)
This workaround does not work with out ', INCREMENT BY n' or with ',INCREMENT
BY 1'

After the above statement and the one mentioned above the error does not occure
any more.

When I have a query in SQL Editor that has the different fields with same field
name (coming from different tables/queries) the results displayed for those
fields are all the same. This happens in when direct-SQL mode is OFF. This
happens not when direct-SQL mode is ON.

It looks like that when in non-direct-SQL mode BASE is binding on column name,
but when executing in direct-SQL mode binding is done differently.

A simple workaround exists: just give each column a unique name/alias.

In the attached database I've two queries with the only difference
non-direct-SQL mode (query: Same_Column_Names_Base_Wrong) and in direct-SQL mode
(query: Same_Column_Names_Native_OK). Please examine the differences in results.

Note that the right result in direct-SQL of query Same_Column_Names_Native_OK is
only shown when one opens the editor and then execute the query. When the query
is started by double-clicking on it, is shows also the wrong result.

[dba-issues] [Issue 97811] Base with MS Access does n ot accept literals in concatenation with plus symbol

I played with the internal database of Base and found the same issue as I
reported for Base with MS Access. The internal database supports two
concatenation operators '||' and '+'. Base is not able to parse queries that use
the '+' operator for concatenation in combination with a literal value. I
attached a test database 97811.ods that contains the following queries:

q_concat_col_plus_col with Base SQL: ok
This query proves that concatenation with '+' symbol is supported with internal
database.

q_concat_col_plus_literal with Direct SQL:ok
This query proves that concatenation with '+' symbol is supported with internal
database in direct SQL mode. Disable Direct SQL mode makes the query fail.

q_concat_col_plus_literal via derived table with Base SQL: ok
This proves the workaround by using a derived table.

Note the other 'workaround' for internal Base database is to use the more common
'||' operator, but that is no available for MS access.

I assume that both databases suffer from the fact that Base SQL parser can not
parse literal string values in combination with '+' symbol as string
concatenation.

A workaround is to implement the Direct-SQL query as an view and use the view in
the sub-form. This is however limited to read-only form-subform relations.

Not native executed queries in Base against MS access database that contain a
concatenations based on plus symbol, break when a string literal value is
involved. The reported error is:
  SQL Status HY000,
  Error code:1000
  Syntax error in SQL expression,
syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting BETWEEN or IN or SQL_TOKEN_LIKE

The following example goes wrong:
   SELECT f1 + 'value' FROM table1;
whereas this is OK:
   SELECT f1 + f2 FROM table1;

A workaround is:
   SELECT X.f1 + X.v FROM ( SELECT f1, 'value' AS v FROM table1 ) X
