flr-cd: I guess the problem is that the m_nRequestCount value in
desktop/source/app/dispatchwatcher.cxx get to -1. My fix would be:

 DispatchWatcher::DispatchWatcher()
-: m_nRequestCount(1)
+: m_nRequestCount(0)

and

+m_nRequestCount++;
+
 for ( p = aDispatchRequestsList.begin(); p != aDispatchRequestsList.end();
p++ )

and

 osl::ClearableMutexGuard aGuard( GetMutex() );
-sal_Int16 nCount = --m_nRequestCount;
+sal_Int16 nCount = m_nRequestCount;

I fixed this issue in
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ooo-build/ooo-build/tree/patches/dev300/desktop-cmd-bulk-conversion.diff
while adding the -bulk command line option.

flr-regina: That is not true. The Flat OpenDocument Filter is an XSL(T)-based
filter shipped upstream OpenOffice.org too.
Additionally its not a problem is the filter, but its really an issue in the
standard ODF-filter whitespace handling.
flr-mib: Do you have any idea whether OOa whitespace handling is conforming to
the ODF spec or not?

flr-od: Good to have you back ;-)

I wouldn't consider this to be a patch. Its rather the
state-of-my-understanding...

As I said: Removing ::CalcCnt will solve the problem for the bugdoc, but I
believe the real reason is that a Follow-Page is created in the balancing
process which then is not moved back...
Hope this makes some sense to you...

flr-od: Indeed; removing CalcCntnt doesn't make sense to me either.

However the reason I wanted to discuss the issues is the comment you made:
// OD 11.04.2003 #108824# - new parameter bNoCalcFollow was used by method
// FormatWidthCols(..) to avoid follow formatting
// for text frames. But, unformatted follows causes
//  problems in method SwCntntFrm::_WouldFit(..),
// which assumes that the follows are formatted.
// Thus, bNoCalcFollow no longer used by
FormatWidthCols(..).

It would be great if you could attach the sample doc from the internal bug
#108824# because I think the fix for #108824# caused this problem.

Looking a little bit in the source code I believe the problem is cause by the
::CalcCntnt call in void SwLayoutFrm::FormatWidthCols [wsfrm.cxx].

for ( USHORT i = 0; i  nNumCols; ++i )
{
  pCol-Calc();
  // ColumnFrms besitzen jetzt einen BodyFrm, der auch kalkuliert werden will
  pCol-Lower()-Calc();
  if( pCol-Lower()-GetNext() )
pCol-Lower()-GetNext()-Calc();  // SwFtnCont
  pCol = (SwLayoutFrm*)pCol-GetNext();
}
//::CalcCntnt( this ); /// If you remove this the problem is gone

I believe the problem is that the above ::CalcCntnt call will calculate a follow
frame which causes the layout misbehaviour.

Which makes me think this is a regression are the following comments at the
::CalcCntnt function:
// OD 11.04.2003 #108824# - new parameter bNoCalcFollow was used by method
// FormatWidthCols(..) to avoid follow formatting
// for text frames. But, unformatted follows causes
//  problems in method SwCntntFrm::_WouldFit(..),
// which assumes that the follows are formatted.
// Thus, bNoCalcFollow no longer used by
FormatWidthCols(..).

Mav, Thanks again for the help.

Unfortionately I need the full story on Linux ;-) In fact its even more
complicated, since WW LINKs also allow do display a different replacement
object: Eg. a Excel OLE can have an Excel-Chart replacement graphics etc...

Additionally it looks like that the .DOC format wants an OLE2-LINK embedded.
[Funny is that RTF wants an OLE1-LINK] and that DOCX don't need an OLE-OBJECT at
all. There it is done using the OPC links...

However -- Thanks so much for your help.
Let me know if you want me to keep you updated...

flr-mav: Thanks for confirming my findings.

I currently modified the WW8 import such that OCommonEmbeddedObject type
linked objectes are inserted -- because I need the linking to work on Linux too.

This works so far and I was even able to preserve the replacement graphics.

However my main problem now is: On export Embedded OLE objects are written to
the .DOC stream, but I need Linked OLE objects. When I understood you
correctly there is currently no code which will generate these kind of OLE
stream for me, right ;-)

flr-mib: Why would we need a bug doc and a list of namespaces to ignore?
I guess its real simple: If we understand a namespace we handle it and if not we
either ignore or preserve it...
However whats definetly a *bug* is to interpret a formula regardless of the
namespace...

Hmmm -- I'd call it a bug.
IMHO its against the namespace idea. You can do --- what you proposed -- for
~certain~ known namespaces which are equally likely... However in general I
really think we must respect the different namespaces.

One way would could be to import it as a FOREIGN formula. E.g. we would add a
FORMULA function which has two parameters a) namespace and b) string. And then
we could preserve the formulas by FOREIGN(ooxml, A1+A2)...

But in general we should NOT try to impose an OOo formula semantic on formulas
which are not in the OOo namespace!

It was a DIS when I did the patch...

I suggest you read the code: As you can see it applies the styles given in the
text-classes as hard formatting --- which is better then ignoring them at all.

The ODF import ignores the formula namespace and tries to import a formula
independent from the namespace.
Correct behaviour should be to ignore a namespace when its not known.

The ODF 1.1 specs does not allow native tables in presentations. Instead the ODF
1.1 specs requests implementors to use embedded spreadsheets.

Since OOo 3.0 has embedded table support and ODF 1.1 requests spreadsheets we
should follow the ODF 1.1 specs and treat the following snipped as an embedded
table:
draw:frame
draw:object
office:document-content
office:body
office:spreadsheet
table:table
!-- same stuff which 1.2 introduces and OOo 3.0 writes… --
/table:table
/office:spreadsheet
/office:body
/office:document-content
/draw:object
draw:image !-- a fall back --
/draw:image
/draw:frame

2.4.x (not sure about 3.x) write an undefined attribtue text:enable-numbering,
which according to a posting from Michael Brauer
(http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/office/200804/msg00204.html) to the ODF
list is an error.
Have not found a bug which tracks this defect, so I created one...

possible. So the only option was to design a new field type. There where many
attempts to add in-place editing to the existing fields and it turned out that
we need a new field implementation in the Core.
Wrt. to ODF there is a proposal to add the new field types to ODF.

flr-mux2005: That not true!
E.g. fields of the form:
Some Comment: field-start\par
\par
/field-start
can *not* be represented with the current ODF fields.
So I really tried to get it right this time and not come up with yet another
crappy solution.
Another thing is e.g. #29508# which can *not* be represented by the current ODF
fields.
Your statement may be right for what you have in mind, but its not true in
general.

Hi,

the preliminary work is integrated in http://go-oo.org/. The upstreaming in
OpenOffice.org is in progress. So for testing downloading a build from
http://go-oo.org/download/ should be fine.

As said: At the moment only inputboxes and checkboxes are working. Drop-down
lists are in progress.

So -- looks like an import problem at the end. When opening the broken doc in
Word the characters are displayed correctly. Can you confirm this?

well --- Writer definely exports something it can't read again... And cmc is
right, it definelty has something to do with the codepages, since there is no
Unicode support in the WW6 format...

But: MS Word is able to import correctly what Writer saved. Event the second
export. So it rather looks like an import problem to me...

Can anyone --- who has Word 95 --- check whether Word 95 can import both export
1 and export 2? [I currently only have Word 95 installed]

cmc thanks for the update. The only thing I don't understand then is why MS Word

This lead me to thinking that this is an import issue

flr-kpalagin: Had a chat with mba about it. The current plan is to get it into
OOo3.0 but disable it by default (since some UI features etc are missing).
However since it can be turned on by a simple configuration change interrested
users can turn it on by eg. installing an OXT extension.
Once the feature is complete we'll installl the extension by default.
Does this make sense?

flr-mba: Is this plan still valid? Could your team do a quick review of the
patches I linked to check feasability of this plan and confirm that nothing is
broken when the fearure is turned off?

And suddenly there are
a) no security concerns?
b) no use zip exec flags etc?
Why that? If you needed a solution why ask me to implement the zip stuff and
post concerns regarding security and then when you need it do not listen to your
own advice at all?
Makes no sense to me!

flr-mba: Sorry. Not a very good description of the problem from my side.

In fact there is such a switch. And it works.

However if you use that switch then you don't have the same functionality, since
the non-system-jpeg-lib is patched.

So this patch moves the patch from the jpeg lib to ooo such that the system-jpeg
lib can be used.
