When I think that the problem finally was resolved, I discover that in Linux
when I merge some cells and after I insert a column it works, but when I try to
delete a column the merge is lost. If the merge is in rows, is the same with the
differenc that is very slow and after the merge is lost.

I probe in Ubuntu and the same, with the difference that I can work with the
other previously opened documents, only the window where the problematic file is
trying to open is gray and don't response. I cannot open another file after that
and I when I kill the window (with an graphical applet to close unstable
spplications) all Open Office close, but that maybe is because the program, that
kill root process I suppose. I have to confirm the version of OpenOffice in
Linux because I suspect that is 3.0 and not 3.1.

Thanks

When I try to open the file I attached, OpenOffice hangs and open the new window
but without nothing inside, and I cannot work with another previously opened
documents in Calc or Writer or whatever OpenOffice related, and cannot open
another documents neither, OpenOffice simply hangs and I have to kill the
process. I don't know if this happens in Linux, I'm going to probe it and tell
you if Linux version have the same problem.

I'm testing OOo 3 beta, and the issue is present again but only in background
color of writer and font color and background color on Calc. I haven't test on
Draw and impress, but I suppose that they have the same problem. The behavior on
font text on writer is as I need so, when I wanna change the text color
I select the text and open the pallette and select the color I want then text is
colored. If I select another or the same text, the last color is always present
and showed in the button (the line below icon on the tool button).

In the other color buttons it doesn't happens, always the indicator (the line
bellow the icon) change to the actual color value of the selected text, cell or
background, as is expected but for highlighting.

About the arrow in the right of that kind of tool buttons works as expected, if
no color or default it shows the palette, but if it has a colored text button
applies the color and the arrow shows the palette, of course this only happens
on txt color button on writer, because is the only one that works.

Please confirm the issue.

When I write on any cell an e-mail address or web address and push enter, the
content of that address cannot be edited and I have to delete re-enter all
address, because I cannot put the pointer to editing even on the content bar.
Another weird thing is that select that cell if only has the address or the text
starts with an e-mail or web address it isn't easily selectable, it opens the
default e-mail client or browser program and I need only to select the cell in
order to edit something or delete the content for example.

For the first issue the address should be edited as always aor at least in the
content bar, and for the second if I push the ctrl key (or something similar on
other keyboards) and mouse click I open the e-mail program or browser, for
usability, maybe, when I put muy pointer over the e-mail address (or even a web
address) show a tooltip indicating that if I wanna go to that site or compose an
e-mail I have to push ctrl+click.

This is my 2 cents, thanks.

PD: The icons are better but the background of the tool bars should be changed,
because the icons only don´t show a mayor version change as the majority expect
even when the functionality have that merit IMHO, the look feel should be more
suggestive.

I observed now that the problem occur sometimes (I tried to capture an animation
to show the problem but unsuccessfully). The button at first hand open the color
palette (for font color or background color) after, the button works but
sometimes the last color is lost, then the button act like the arrow, opening
the color palette, this is more frecuent in background color button and in Calc
for border is always, the button act like arrow. So is a condition that when the
last color or selection is lost (return to the default value because I select
another area or do something) the button act like the arrow (a desired behavior
as I can see) but fail sometimes because lost the last selection, the problem is
after the selection. I work in OO 2.2.1 for Windows (Win XP SP2). If I can
capture an animation I'm going to send to you the movie with the strange
behaviour. Thanks

Yes, I was trying the same as described and is a pain, but to improve the
requirement, should have the option to put a Fontwork object as a water mark,
this can be a very potent option that covers the simple text option. I imagine
that: I put a fontwork and I right click on my fontwork and have the option of
put as a water mark or In background and even the option to be a background
for all pages or only odd o even pages. Of course in the background page's
properties has into the combobox the fontwork option and I can specify a new
fontwork (then a wizard or fontwork dialog) or a existing one in the same
document or import a fontwork object from another OO document. The transparency
and other things (position, rotation, etc) can be done via fontwork's object
properties.

Hello folks:

Congratulations and thanks for your great work and freeing us ;-). The
enhancement is about when you push the delete key; appears a dialog that maybe
is better as a popup menu option as already is, but in general we want to delete
the content of the cell (value or formula), if I want to delete other things or
all, with CTRL+Delete or the menu item is more functional, but the delete key
should be a shortcut for the most common task, delete the value or formula.

Thanks.

Hello:

This is in general for all OOo UI, for instance, when I change the font color to
some text on Calc or Writer, with the tool button (on format bar) it works, but
when I select another text to do the same with the same color I have to
re-select again the color, because the button change its appeareance to the
selected text's color not maintaining the last selected color and if I wanna
change, then I push the button's right-arrow to re-select. This behavior is the
same for all toolbar buttons that have a right arrow, so the productivity is
less, we have to re-select and re-select, OO don´t maintain the last
characteristic (color, border, etc) always change to the characteristic of the
selected text or area.

In Calc the border tool button has a little arrow in its right side, but when I
try to push the arrow is the same as if I push the button, worst, when you pass
the cursor over that tool button the button and its arrow shows the border of
them as a one thing and not as two parts (button and its arrow as you can see
into the attached image), the same for background color in writer.

Thanks.

Hello:

Maybe this is a weird thing, but when I try to combine a cell with a set of
previously combined cells, the combined cells are uncombined and then I must to
again click on cells I want to combine. This isn´t important in short spread
sheets, but when the document is quite complex or have a lot of cells combined
this can be very frustrating.

Another thing associated with it is the imposibility to insert a row or column
if that insert is involves a combined cells. I suppose that simply the row or
column is inserted and into the cells combined the combination is bigger. but
now I must to uncombine, insert and again select the new set of cells to
combine. This kind of redo makes a lot of my friends to step back to MS Office,
and the productivity for this little things decay.

The same when you push the delete key, appears a dialog that maybe is better as
a menu option, but in general we want to delete the content of the cell (value
or formula), if I want to delete other things or all, with CTRL+Delete or the
menu item, or something different can improve the usability.

This are suggestions of usability that IMHO the mayority expects when we do this
tasks.

Thanks.

Thanx for the news, and yes, the table is somewhat weird, but was done for
someone with almost no experience with tables I had to help her dividing the
page on columns and one table as urgent workaround, but for the purpose of bug
detection was pretty well. About the new way to do tables, do you know if
later will be on 2.1.x or 2.x or 3.x?.

When try to open the document attached, Open Office Writer open, but hangs and
only shows the window without menu neither caption, only the gray background and
the window icon on the upper-left corner and the three buttons on the
upper-right. When I open the document in MS Word 2003, it shows a message (the
original message is in Spanish) No se puede registrar este documento. No se
pueden crear vínculos con este documento desde otros documentos. in English is
something like This document cannot be registered. It cannot create links with
this documents from others. after that I can see the document. With OpenOffice
I have to kill it with the task manager.

My Open Office has installed the OOo_2.0.3rc7_060622_Win32Intel_langpack_es.exe
This problem was the same in a Intel Pentium 4 and in AMD64, with and without an
Internet connection (I thought that the problem was because I didn´t has an
opened Internet connection, but wasn´t the reason)

Thanks

[sc-issues] [Issue 21743] Option to delete cell with out confirmation

If this is done with bacspace, it should be exchanged with de Delete key. AFAIK
the idea is to bring Excel's users to Calc, so Calc should be as similar as
possible to Excel or at least has the option to program the key configuration as
Excel or as Calc or even if the user knows another spreadsheet customize the
keystrokes. I had done a lot of publicity of Open Office tools, but the people
complaint about the many dialogs to do everything that Excel does more
intelligently, without many dialogs. Ok Calc shows more options, baut it can
be very annoying when you used to do the same things faster without select and
select and select options and options and options, this is a lack of Open
Office, the usability, and some of my friends return to Excel for little things
like this.

Yes, I'm trying as administrator user on Win XP SP2 with OO 2.0.1 and the
Language pack RC5 for spanish and a fails, an error appears when I try to get a
new dictionary in spanish because DicOOo wants to update from 1.5.3 to 1.5.5.
Where is the 1.5.5 updated DicOOp to download?

Create a table with 7 columns and about 20 rows and the page is in a landscape
orientation, the fifth column is a kind of separator (mixing all cells of this
column to achieve that effect). When I try to copy the information from the
first three columns into the last three columns the paste fails and anything is
copied. If I have titles (merging the first row to put into the resultant cell a
title) copy again the first three columns, when I try to paste into the other
side of the table even when the shape is exactly the same (the mixed cells for
the title in the first row in the last two columns), anything is pasted, the
same if I try to copy only a single column, again I cannot paste the data. I
don´t know why I cannot paste data into the same table and I must to copy cell
by cell and not massively.
