But please have a look at the link in the URL field above. We are seeing in the forum reports about recovered files changed to hashes especially after a power loss. But not only. And OS is not only Windows. This problem has clearly started with 3.0 version. I've linked as many threads as I could find in one of the post. They tend to prove that there is something behind that. It's not a general issue (else we would have much more of them). But I'm sure there is some application maybe interfering with temporary files. In the past, if temporary files were touched, OOo could not save the file but that was all; in this new problem, the content is changed to hashes or pound signs. Thanks to have a look. Are there at least some precise questions to be asked to the users in such cases? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. So if the user makes a mistake after an operation (buggy) that clears the undo log and autosave happens, there is no way to come back. The current process is more robust IMHO because it gives the user the decision to save definitively or not. If you just want to make some trials on a file without changing it, autosave would be counter-productive. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. If I create a table with an AutoText made with 2.x OOo version, when exported to .doc, the table loses some formatting but is visible with MS Word 2003. - If I open it with OOo 2.4.1, the table layout is changed - If I open it with OOo 3.1, the table is partly invisible. In the Navigator, I can see that additional tables have been created. If I delete a table and undo that action, I can see the table fine! If I create the same table layout in 3.1, no problem. If I copy an 'old' table in the document, same problem as the original AutoText table. Here are 3 attachments: - Tables.odt is the original document with a table inserted by AutoText, another copied and pasted from that one and a 3rd made in 3.1 - Tables.doc is the exported version - Tables doc saved in ODF.odt is the .doc version above opened with OOo 3.1 and saved back to .odt Note that there is no dataloss because the content.xml file from the Tables doc saved in ODF.odt version still has the data but it's very difficult to retrieve them from OOo. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [installation-issues] [Issue 96594] MSOffice file association

The spirit of 89097 is to skip the file association but activating it automatically when there is no MS Office on the machine. So if OOo detects that the user doesn't have MSO, then, OOo should automatically open the .doc, ... files. Hence, just don't ask the user about that. But if MSO is installed, then let the user chose and keep asking him at OOo install. Simply removing the option was a big mistake that hasn't answer anything (with opposite consequences!). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Tried the following: - open a .odt made with 2.4.x with 3.0.1 (with lots of tables) - save as .doc - open with MS Word 2003 -> crash - open that same .odt with 2.4.1 and save as .doc - open with MS Word 2003 -> OK. Tried to reproduce by making a sample file with 2.4.1 then opening it with 3.0.1 and saving as .doc but can't reproduce that. Therefore, it can lead to blank spaces at print because the text is more compact in the print preview than in the edit mode while the cell size is the same. See attachment, left is the edit mode, right is the print preview. Line feeds are not at the same place. A blank space is visible (red frame). It means that the edit mode is not consistent with the print preview, user has to check systematically the layout and can't rely on the edit mode. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Replace by: & String is replaced and an 'x' is added: a bold word -> a boldx word ('bold' being bold). NB: doesn't occur if the string is at the end of document last paragraph. Doesn't occur if no formatting is set for the searched string. And yes, I've looked at the priority but this is a showstopper for anyone using the Find and Replace feature with formatting. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 88361] Disable even=left/odd=righ t page rule to avoid page numbering issues
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88361 Issue #|88361 Summary|Disable even=left/odd=right page rule to avoid page nu |mbering issues Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.4.0 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P2 Subcomponent|formatting Assigned to|mru Reported by|hagar_de_lest --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Apr 16 20:04:39 + 2008 --- I know, this is a longstanding request but according to Issue 3910, I've not seen any specific report for this problem (not even in Issue 12138). Or please indicate which is the leading issue for that. OOo follows the rule that any odd page is right and any even page is left. Even if it's a standard rule for books, many users don't have to follow that rule. So please add an option to disable it. Not all the OOo users are publishing books! The main concern is that page numbering is a real mess. Even if blank pages are not printed, they're taken into account for page numbering. I set this issue as P2 because it does "mark a severe problem which affect a significant number of customers" according to the number of duplicate issues here and threads in the OOo forums. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. This is a so common question in forum. The worst is that many users think the unzipped files are the shortcuts to the applications. Then they are lost to see all the files. See for example: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=456 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=992 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2104 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2381 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2481 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2653 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2995 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3106 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3704 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4010 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4221 http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4304 - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 87770] URLs recognition doesn't u se internet character styles
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=87770 Issue #|87770 Summary|URLs recognition doesn't use internet character styles Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.4.0 Platform|All URL|http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic |.php?f=7&t=4185 OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|formatting Assigned to|mru Reported by|hagar_de_lest --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Apr 2 20:16:53 + 2008 --- See the thread linked above for the whole context. When the URLs recognition is activated, URLs are changed into hyperlinks but as a direct formatting, the Internet Link and Visited Internet link are not used at all. Character style is not changed. However, if you modify the Internet character style to set the language to none, that setting is immediately transfered to the hyperlinks! -> wavy red lines disappear. Moreover, if you click the link, it's changed into what looks like a visited internet link (but still no character style) but the spell checking still doesn't check the string even if the character style has got back its language setting! And the Visited Internet link character style is not even linked to the Internet link character style. Shouldn't OOo changed the character style of a recognized URL to the relevant character style? NB: checked on Linux and W2k with OOo 2.4. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
