I vote for this but I do not hope it helps. Dozens of votes are still in from the users. What else can I do personally in order to suggest developers to work on this issue? It seems this is not a too difficult job although maybe I am wrong because I am an outsider. [sw-issues] [Issue 96988] Outline numbering is unsta ble
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96988 Issue #|96988 Summary|Outline numbering is unstable Component|Word processor Version|OOo 3.0 Platform|PC URL| OS/Version|Windows XP Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P2 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|writerneedsconfirm Reported by|halmai --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Dec 7 14:36:23 + 2008 --- I started to write a relatively big document. During the first cca. 80-100 pages I was using only outline levels 1, 2 and 3. But then I needed to use level 4 as well. Unfortunately I could not solve to number my chapter properly. It had the number 1.1.1.1 instead of 2.x.x.x. In order to use the 4th level, in Tool = Outline Numbering I attached to level 4 the Heading 4 style and set everything in level 4 as Heading 3 had on level 3 (except number of sublevels of course which was set to 4 instead of 3). My 4th level chapter was after the 2.3.4 so I expected the 2.3.4.1 number to be presented. Instead of this, 1.1.1.1 has appeared. I could not change this behavior trying for several hours. After that I created a new document and made a 4-level heading hierarchy as a test. The numbering was working fine. So OOo is capable to handle so deep chapter hierarchy. This means that only my document became ill during the time. Therefore I started to reducing my 100-page document into a shorter version in order to present the wrong behavior. It became worse and worse. The final simplified version which I will attach soon, illustrates what I am talking about. The chapter containing the text This number is wrong should be numbered 1.2.1.1 instead of 1.1.1.1. This document has several further problems as well. If I delete the letter D from the chapter 1.2.1 by pressing the backspace button then the following unexpected symptoms occur: - Main Title looses his number 1 and his style Heading 1 and goes back to the basic style Text body. - Chapter containing C looses his style Heading 3 visible on the toolbar and becomes Text body. It's presentation is changed too but the number 1.1.2 remains. - Chapter containing letter D earlier (deleted just now) looses it's style Heading 3 on the toolbar. The presentation and the number 1.2.1 remains unchanged. - The last chapter containing Y changes his style to Text body with indent and letter Y will be indented by 0.5 cm. - Undo does not un-do the whole things above but removes the number 1.2.1 too. So I think OOo made my document wrong during the time of editing. My question: - Did I do something wrong? - What should I avoid in order to prevent my document from such corruptions? - How should I tell OOo to number by 4th level paragraph correctly instead of 1.1.1.1? - Is my document repairable in some way (hexa-editing or so)? How? I am using OOom9 (Build: 9358) Build 2008-11-04 This is the Hungarian localization of OOo but such problems occured with earlier 2.* version of OOo too. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Now I can do this only by attaching some straight connectors to each others sequentially. This looks fine but if I try to reposition an attaching point then OOo does not move the two connector endpoints together but detaches them instead. I would like to get a new connector type to the list: - Collector - Line Collector - Straight Collector - Curved Collector - BROKEN LINE COLLECTOR By the Broken Line Collector I wish to start a connector line from a connection point of an object. I would click on different points of the sheet defining breaking points after each other. Finally I would click on a connection point of the other object. By moving one of these objects only the last/first segment of the broken line would move together with the object. I would like to right click on one segment and choose Add new breakpont here to add a new breakpoint. I would like to right click on a breakpoint and and choose Remove this breakpoint. (Toad Data Modeller (formerly called Case Studio) from CharonWare (www.casestudio.com) is doing this very nice by clicking together the Ctrl key.) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Navigation in a such document is supported by the Navigator quite well. If I open the [+] sign in the Headings row of the Navigator then the paragraphs formatted as Heading 1, Heading 2, etc. occur in the Navigator as a table-of-content tree. Because I have dozens of Headings in my document, I have to scroll a lot in the Navigator window. I would like to open/close seldomly used branches of this tree by [+]/[-] symbols, like in Microsoft Office I can. This would ease the navigation in a hierarhized document. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It is the capability to hide upper and bottom margins with header and footer content. During this the layout is kept printing layout. If I click in MSO on the gray gap between two succeeding pages then - the gray gap - the headers - the footers - and the upper/bottom margins of the pages disappear. In this way I can see more from the interesting part of the document and the other parts are hidden. [sw-issues] [Issue 75489] Assigning icon to a paragr aph as graphical initial
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=75489 Issue #|75489 Summary|Assigning icon to a paragraph as graphical initial Component|Word processor Version|1.0.0 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|FEATURE Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|mru Reported by|halmai --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Mar 17 19:12:08 + 2007 --- In technical books it is a frequently used technique to sign some paragraphs with special icons. For example if the author wants to show that a paragraph contains something important than he/she can put an image near the paragraph. Usually a exclamation mark in a triangle or a straight index-finger is used to call attention. Other example is if the author wants to sign in a lecture book that the reader (=student) should write something by his/her own words. In this case the icon could be a paper with a pencil. Originally I would do such a paragraph in OOo with 3 cm indent from left, then insert a frame and put the proper image into this frame. But if I have in a 300 page long document 100 paragraphs like this then it is a very boring job to do this all the time. I would like to have a tool called graphical initial or something like this which is similar to normal initial (Format = Paragraph = Drop Caps) with the difference that it would not show the first letter of the paragraph but a special image. Using this as a style I could reformat easily all the paragraphs in my 300 page long document. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sw-issues] [Issue 74843] conditional breakpoint in long words
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=74843 Issue #|74843 Summary|conditional breakpoint in long words Component|Word processor Version|OOo 2.1 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|ENHANCEMENT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|editing Assigned to|mru Reported by|halmai --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun Feb 25 02:09:21 + 2007 --- Sometimes I have to write very long words, for exampe in a technical document a database table can have a very_long_name_for_database_table. Such long words are treated as simple words so normally they are not broken. If this word does not fit to the end of his row then it is moved completely to the next row and the end of the first row remains empty. This is ugly. For normal words of spoken languages the conditional hyphen is a perfect solution to heal this ugly situation but in technical documents it can be embarrassing. For example: instead this: ...very_long_name_for_- database_table... I would like to get it without hyphen in this way: ...very_long_name_for_ database_table... For this reason I think it would be nice to introduce a new formatting character besides non-breakable hyphen, non-breakable space and conditional hyphen. The new one should be the conditional breakpoint. It should work the same way as conditional hyphen works with the exception that it should not show the - sign at the end of the row. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The default caption is Table # where # is the index of the table. Unlike in English, in Hungarian we use an other form. Instead Table # we use #. tblzat for captioning our tables. Unfortunatelly I could not change the default behavior to work so. In Tools - Options - OOo Writer - AutoCaption - OOo Writer Table menupoint I changed the Separator to . tblzat. This made such captions: Table #. tblzat So I started to remove the word Table from the Category list. When I left only the first letter T then I got a caption like this: T #. tblzat When I removed the letter T then the number itself was disappeared like this: .tblzat which is wrong because I need the number. My suggestion is to get two values instead of the Separator. One for put it before the table index and one other to put it after the index. Somehow like this: Before: After: Y This could produce an autocaption like this: #Y Thanks, Csongi bacsi - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I would like to print three additional pages with page numbers 21, 22, and 23. The help tip said that inserting a manual break with a not-[None] style and defining the Change page number can do this (see Insert - Manual break menupoint). Yes, it works fine, I will get a 4 pages document starting by an empty one. These pages will have the page numbers 1, 21, 22 and 23 respectively. This is almost perfect but I would like to remove the empty page from there. How can I create a document which starts with a page number which is greater than 1? I think this feature is missing from OOo but maybe I just was not able to find it. I have tried several works around but they were too compilcated for such an every-day task.
