I then tried each in conditional formatting, with and without single quotes. I got confusing results. Mostly nothing happened. Sometimes formatting was applied - most often this was if previous conditional formatting had hungover from a previous attempt - maybe step 7 of issue 28589 is involved there. I did not have time to pin down what was going on. It seems names (named cells etc) in conditional formatting do not work. I can't find a relevant issue, but without clearly defining the problem there isn't much point raising one. If they don't work within OpenOffice then export behaviour to XLS and back is secondary. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Type a mail address or URL and let Writer AutoCorrect linkify it. Click on the link and sure enough, its appearance changes to that of the Visited Internet Link character style. However it is not marked as spelled incorrectly, despite now supposedly having a font property language = English (or whatever - not none, anyway). The opposite occurs if Internet Link character style is left unmodified (with a language set for the font), and Visited Internet Link character style has the font property language = none. This time a link will be spell checked both if it has AND if it has not been visited. It is as though Visited Internet Link character style inherits at least that one property from Internet Link character style, even though it is not linked (nor does it display its properties as though it were linked). Additionally, putting the cursor into styled text usually causes the Navigator to highlight the applied style - but this does not occur with Internet Link and Visited Internet Link styled text when they have been applied by AutoCorrect - Default is highlighted instead. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. On that page, under the heading Using Styles, Numbering Pages, Using Fields is a link Undoing Direct Formatting for a Document. That leads to a page which says this: http://documentation.openoffice.org/online_help/htmlhelp/text/shared/guide/undo_ formatting.html Quotes: You can undo all formatting that has not been made by styles in a few steps. If you format a document without Styles, it is referred to as direct formatting. You can remove direct formatting from your document by selecting the entire text with the shortcut keys Command Ctrl+A and then choosing Format - Default Formatting. Converting someone else's ODT or DOC to pure styles should be that simple. However tangled the specifications have got themselves, the actual intended behaviour is quite clear. Please reconsider target - considering Writer's developing reputation as a styles based word processor, having to manually re-apply potentially hundreds, or even thousands of character stylings, is a severe limitation. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Unless I'm mistaken these two issues are saying the opposite of each other. Surely Default should ONLY clear direct formatting (i.e. retain character styles), otherwise how can it be done? Character styles are easily removed by applying default character style - we don't need Default to do that too. That would be at the expense of losing the ability to remove only direct formatting (which is VITAL for cleaning and converting a 'second-hand' document to pure styles). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 83643] Renaming Cell Style breaks Conditional Formatting
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=83643 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Nov 16 09:00:44 + 2007 --- Why enhancement? Steps to reproduce: Create cell style based on default called Red and give it a red background Put 1 in A1, 2 in A2, 3 in A3 Apply style Red to A3 Conditionally format all 3 cells with Cell value is greater than 1, Cell style Red At this point A2 and A3 are red Now rename style Red to Warning Now only A3 is red! If a style is renamed then all uses of it should be maintained, not just some. If I rename a sheet I don't expect to have to inspect every cell in case it's referred to, so why should I for a style?. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
