I tried OpenOffice.org 2.3 with Windows 2000 on the same .sdd files that showed
the error when displaying OLE objects with previous versions. OOo2.3 displays
the files correctly.
Congratulations!

There is a pretty heavy workaround to the bug of the wrong OLEs.
Take a presentation saved with StarOffice 5.2 (.sdd), read it with
OpenOffice_1.1: it is fine. Save it as .sxi.
Contrary to the .sdd version, the .sxi version reads correctly with
OpenOffice_2.2!

I agree with your observations: indeed the size of the OLEs is wrong and OLEs
are located in the upper left corner.
The CPU on which I run these tests is a Pentium of only 667 MHz, therefore my
waiting time for opening the presentation is longer than yours.

I opened a presentation prepared with Staroffice 5.2 (.sda): the system took
tens of minutes to produce an output, the CPU was totally occupied by
soffice.BIN.
The result was incorrect, in that the images looked almost ok but the text was
diplaced and of the wrong size.

I tried another presentation prepared with Staroffice 5.2 and it was bad as
well.

For comparison, I tried to open the same presentations with OpenOffice.org 1.1.4
and it works fast and fine.

This report is a follow-up of issues 75160 and 75161.

I loaded OOF680_m9 and tried it both on windows 98 and windows 2000.
It does not crash any longer on windows 98.
However conversion time of a StarImpress 5.2 presentation is very long (tens on
minutes) on both operating systems.
Presentations containing OLE objects and images or drawings are not displayed as
the original StarImpress slides: relative dimensions are not preserved.
