On my new install of OOo 2.4.0 on XP Home SP2, I have the same problem.

The name that XP is registered to (simply viewed under the General tab in System
Properties) was displayed in the User Name field and the Organization field was
blank, same as the XP registered info. The Only for me radio button option
incorrectly had the same name in parentheses, also. Now, is is working on
omitting the parentheses but I would further recommend to rename the preceding
text to Only this user unless the actual user account profile name is
displayed instead.

Additionally, is there even a need for the _installer_ to confirm User Name and
Organization since that info seems to be ignored later when the Welcome Wizard
is displayed upon first run of OOo in *each* profile?

Doesn't this still happen in all OS's? (Not just Linux)

Wouldn't this not be necessary anymore if StarSymbol is not referred to/used
anymore (xf. issue 26319)? (add as dependent?)

[sw-issues] [Issue 19105] Missing Bullets on Win9x and Win Me

*sigh*

I looked in the OOo_1.9.118_Win32Intel_install.zip file and the included .CAB
files and only found fonts in openofficeorg3.cab. There was OpenSymbol font,
the Vera Sans fonts, and the Vera Serif fonts, that was it. The file I attached
shows in the XML that the StarSymbol font was automatically being used for the
bullets.

Either way since the StarSymbol font is not included with OOo or Windows, I
don't think it should even be considered by OOo to be the default bullets font
anymore. Especially because of the obvious font substitution problem here.

So, OOo should use a font for the bullets that either comes with OOo or that all
Windows users have. We have four options that I can see:
* Use OpenSymbol as is and point to U+E01E
* Use a standard Windows font (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) with the
standard U+2022
* Use the standard (Windows) Symbol font and point to U+F0B7
* Change OpenSymbol to have U+2022 display a bullet

BTW, the font used for the bullet is not the same as the font used for the text
surrounding it.

OK, the above file was created on the same machine that I used with my last
comment, but I'm now using OpenOffice.org 1.9.118. I simply opened a New
Document and clicked the bullets button typed the text and hit Save. I moved my
StarSymbol font out of my FONTS directory and rebooted. Loaded OOo and the
bullets weren't displayed, just an placeholder rectangle like the others. I
immediately copied the font back, switched back to OOo and it displayed as it
should. Didn't change anything with OOo just the font!
The problem is OOo selecting or not selecting an alternative font/typeface.

Still working on recreating the issue with a new database
But with OOo 1.9.100 and the problematic database, this specific problem with
static reports has cleared up. Although, now I can't create a truly dynamic
report (where the dummy text is replaced with the current contents of a table)
with the new OOo version and the problematic database. Grrr

When I go to Tools - Options, I can only see the options for some OOo
applications (for example Writer, Base, etc.) depending what application(s) are
open. The only thing that is constant is that when a application is open then
its options can be configured from that application's menu. Otherwise it just
depends. Haven't figured out more of a pattern, yet

I can confirm this behavior sometimes with OOo 1.9.93 on Windows 98 SE. I never
had an empty table, though. I would only see the column headers and one row of
dummy data whenever I opened my dynamic report, until just a minute ago. After
probably five times of opening the report and revising it twice it finally
generated the multiple rows of the current data. All I can say for a workaround
is to either create a static report or to save changes to the dynamic report
when asked and fiddle around with it

The priority needs to be bumped up to 3 and the Summary should be changed to
Dynamic database report displays dummy data.

I noticed that when I create a static report, and I have a cell empty in the
generated table, the data in each of the cells to the right of the blank cell
moves from its column over one to the left. The cells on the right that should
have had the data that moved is now filled with dummy text.

Very annoying, makes the report almost unusable. Needs fixed before final
release. Thanks.

OK, someone removed the instructions under Getting Started, but they are now
under the Quick-Start Guide, Windows in a Multiple User Environment section.

Again I quote: 1. The new installation of OpenOffice.org is a self-extracting
archive and does not require a separate unzipping utility such as 7-Zip.
