Steps to reproduce bug: 1: Create a new document in OOo 3.0 Beta. 2: Enter some text and insert a note. 3: Save in MS Word 97/2000/XP format, and close the document. 4: Reopen document. The Save document progress bar appears but no progress is shown. This lasted for over 8 hours (at that point I killed it). System info: 1.8MHz, 1.5GB, Win XP Pro SP2, OOo 2.0.2. I observed similar behaviour in OOo 1.9.104 under Knoppix 4.0 (although here the progress bar got to about 1/8 fairly quickly, then stopped progressing). The first XLS speadsheet I had which exhibited this problem contained 4 sheets, the largest of which held a table with 38366 rows and 182 columns. The spreadsheet contained no formulae, charts, or macros - just text and numbers, with some formatting. It occupied 51.8 MB, too big to post here. I then opened this spreadsheet in Excel (2002 SP3), removed the three smaller sheets, and deleted all the cell contents from the large sheet (but did nothing to the cell formatting), before saving it in XLS format. This new spreadsheet occupied only 2.3 MB, but caused the same problem. I will compress and attach this file. This problem seems somewhat similar to issues 3385, 1905 and 23172.
