@ctrlbrk. If a user select all and paste he normaly has the intention to
have the clipboard content in
every cell (or block of cells). But maybe he don't know the consequenses of
this, he don't see how big is
a hole sheet. This is also because the sliders are not proportional if you are
at the top of a sheet. In a
text document it is more easy. A hole doc is all pages with a letter in (or
space or return). In calc it is
for a simple user not calculable. So the question is, how big should be the
area to paste in (ask the
user) or maybe how can it stored more intelligentr (not to store in every cell
but store that every cell
has content bla or that every block of X*Y has that array a, b, c; d, e, f
as content.)

So why not ask the user if a paste operation is requested for a hole table what
he realy want?
An other possibility is to have a standard table size (which the user can set
for every table) and select
all means that size or (if bigger) all used cells.

Anyhow: if an operation needs long (more then i.e. 10 seconds) a status bar and
a cancel button is
nessesary. And the user should be warned if operations needs huge amount of
resources.

I don't understand, why a missing temp file makes it impossible to save the
doc to the existing file or to
save as to a new one, while it is possible to copy all the content in to a
new doc. So all nessesary
information is not lost.

I will test the workaround for the next days.

If I delete the temp file (and empty the bin) it seems to be the same error.

After the Mac was in Sleep Mode (hibernation, standby), OOo is unable to save
or save as documents
(tested with calc and writer) if they was open for a long time.

Error saving the document xxx:
Write Error. The file could not be written...

Simular issues: #84881, #63533, #82054 but they are closed because they seemed
to be a duplicate of
#73979 which got fixed on Jan 10 18:14:52 + 2008. So maybe this issue and
the others are not
dublicates of #73979? or #73979 is not fixed at all.

I don't know, where you got this information. IMO it is wrong.

To move focus to the next window of the active application in MacOS X
standard is cmd+. This you can
find in System Preference - Keyboard Shortcuts. This shortcut is user editable,
not hard coded. So an
application has to do what the user selects in Keyboard Shortcuts.

In OOo 3.0.0 RC2 de Intel it works if user don't change the standard of cmd+,
but does not work if the
user choose some other combination in Keybord Shortcuts.

Hi,

if a cell has much content, so that the cell (if selected) is higher than a
page, the view don't follow the
cursor. And calc becomes to be very slow.

Maybe it is on all Platforms, testet on Mac, Aqua, Intel.

Hi,

I found the following navigation in the text of cells in spreadsheets:

Set cursor to start of text cmd+Home
Set cursor to end of text cmd+End

Set cursor to a text position one page up Page up*
Set cursor to a text position one page down Page down*

*not verifiable because the view of a cell higher than a page will not follow
the cursor (issue 94221)

Set cursor to start of line Home
Set cursor to end of line End

Set cursor to start of text (in cell) cmd+Home
Set cursor to end of text (in cell) cmd+End

Set cursor to start of (previous) word -not defined-
Set cursor to end of (next) word -not defined-

This is Windows style.
In Mac OS Home, End, Page up, Page down is equivalent to moving the scrollers,
so they only scroll and
don't change the focus!

On MacOS it should work like this:

Set cursor to start of text cmd+Arrow up
Set cursor to end of textcmd+Arrow down

View start of text (or start of sheet?) Home
View end of text (or end of sheet?) End

Set cursor to a text position one page up -not defined-
Set cursor to a text position one page down -not defined-

View a text position one page up (or page up the sheet?) Page up
View a text position one page down (or page down the sheet?) Page down

Set cursor to start of line cmd+Arrow left
Set cursor to end of line cmd+Arrow right

Set cursor to start of (previous) word alt+Arrow left *
Set cursor to end of (next) word alt+Arrow right *

Set cursor to start of (previous) line alt+Arrow up *
Set cursor to end of (next) line alt+Arrow down *

Hi,

I found the following navigation in spreadsheets:

Set focus to first cell of sheet cmd+Home
Set focus to last cell of sheet cmd+End

Set focus to a cell one page up Page up
Set focus to a cell one page down Page down

Set focus to first cell in row Home
Set focus to last cell in row End

Set focus to first USED cell in col cmd+Arrow up
Set focus to last USED cell in col cmd+Arrow down

This is a mixture of Windows and Apple style.
In Mac OS Home, End, Page up, Page down is equivalent to moving the scrollers,
so they only scroll and
don't change the focus!

I didn't found a exact guideline for navigation in spreadsheets
(OSXHIGuidelines.pdf) and even Apples
iWork suite is not a good paragon in using there own standards! In the sheets
application Numbers
there is NO navigation except moving from cell to cell by Arrow Keys. That's
poor.

I would suggest the following as the closest Mac-way:

View first cell of sheet Home (like use the scrollers)
View last cell of sheet End (like use the scrollers)

View a cell one page up Page up (like use the scrollers)
View a cell one page downPage down (like use the scrollers)

Set focus to first USED cell in row cmd+Arrow left
Set focus to last USED cell in row cmd+Arrow right

Set focus to first USED cell in col cmd+Arrow up
Set focus to last USED cell in col cmd+Arrow down

Set focus to first USED cell of sheet -not defined- (it is easy to use
cmd+Arrow up and cmd+Arrow left)
Set focus to last USED cell of sheet -not defined- (it is easy to use
cmd+Arrow down and cmd+Arrow
right)

And let me say: great work is done from the Aqua team! But to find the right
functions on the right keys
is very important for fast working.

Hi,

many dialogs are not in Mac style. Best example the dialog is the Save Changes
alert:

Mac style: Don't SaveCancel Save

where Save ist blue and will done when hit return
and Don't Save has a blue border. The blue border is rotating the buttons by
TAB. Choosing the button
with the border by pressing Spacebar.

OpenOffice: Save Don't Save Cancel
where no button is chooceable by keyboard

The order of the buttons is wrong and the preallocation to keyboard keys is
missing. And modal dialogs
should come down like a sheet (not realy important).

Many of the dialogs are not in Mac Style. It is not so important for a first
Aqua release I think, but
should be done anyway to give a good usability.

Hi,

in the find replace dialog of writer there is whole words only.
In the find replace dialog of calc it is replaced by Entire cells.

But in calc it makes sence to have both: whole words only and Entire cells

As a workaround I tried the regular expressions, but \bword\b doesn't work.

So please add whole words only to the find replace dialog of calc.
Not sure whether it is a Enhancement or a Feature.

@rainerbielefeld

Issue 55020 seems to be fixed, I get no blocked scroller.
Issue 86994 seems to be the same issue, but is confusing and wrong declared.
Step 2. must be
doubleclick to B4, not A4. And there is no magic line 32! The testfile is
looked. I can confirm it, if I
reduce the window height smaller then the cell height.

I made some screenshots and added a testfile and hope it is easier to reproduce:
Open testfile Issue94221.ods
goto (click to) cell B9 (Screenshot A)
Cell B10 should be higher then the doc-window, if not reduce window hight
Arrow key down (cursor on B10, Screenshot B)
Arrow key down (cursor on B11, Screenshot C)

You never see the lines with higher numbers if the cell B10 is higher then the
window, not even if you
double click to B10 and move (Arrow down) to the end. Also the scroller will
not work.

I aggree with you, that issue 89544 seems to be related this defect. In some
cases calc seems to use the
absolut position to guess the anchored cell.

Hi K. Palagin,

I don't think, that this issue is related to 59745. The anchor of the notes are
moving with the cells, and
the position of the notes seems to be stored absolutely on the sheet. In this
issue (85791), the anchor
(of pics) is moving into an other cell. I'm not worked into the source code,
but for me this seems to be
quite different.

Therefore I hope not to wait for a fixed issue 59745 to start this one.
Working with pictures in cells is not useable until this issue is fixed. Is
formatting the right
Subcomponent? Could you please set a target milestone?

Thanks,
Kai

Insert a picture by file to (for example) cell C10, set anchor to cell. Anchor
is now in cell C10. Now
increase the hight of row 9 and the anchor will move to C9. After this move, it
stays there, even if I
increase the hight of row 9 again. It does not depend why the hight increases.
It also happens if the
hight increases because of inserting text with word wrap in a col of the row
above.

If i decrese the hight of row 9 the anchor stays in cell C10. After this I can
increase the hight of row 9
without moving the anchor out of cell C10.

I tryed to set the anchor after inserting the picture by file to page and back
to cell, does not help.

An other defect in maybe the same manner is that many pictures at a column get
y-offsets in high row
numbers (i.e. row 300).

I can reproduce it with OOo 2.3.1 on W2K (both german language) and with
NeoOffice 2.2.2 Patch 8 on
MacOS X 10.5.1 and wiht older versions of OpenOffice.

Hope that help to fix the defect.

I found out, that the workaround I described (to decrease the hight of the row
above and than to increase
the hight of the row above) will not work all the time. It seems to work in
that way: decrease it, klick to
the picture than increase it.
