[sc-issues] [Issue 59453] warn before pasting into too many cells
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=59453 --- Additional comments from ka...@openoffice.org Wed Jun 10 13:59:15 + 2009 --- @ctrlbrk. If a user select all and paste he normaly has the intention to have the clipboard content in every cell (or block of cells). But maybe he don't know the consequenses of this, he don't see how big is a hole sheet. This is also because the sliders are not proportional if you are at the top of a sheet. In a text document it is more easy. A hole doc is all pages with a letter in (or space or return). In calc it is for a simple user not calculable. So the question is, how big should be the area to paste in (ask the user) or maybe how can it stored more intelligentr (not to store in every cell but store that every cell has content bla or that every block of X*Y has that array a, b, c; d, e, f as content.) So why not ask the user if a paste operation is requested for a hole table what he realy want? An other possibility is to have a standard table size (which the user can set for every table) and select all means that size or (if bigger) all used cells. Anyhow: if an operation needs long (more then i.e. 10 seconds) a status bar and a cancel button is nessesary. And the user should be warned if operations needs huge amount of resources. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. IMO it is wrong. To move focus to the next window of the active application in MacOS X standard is cmd+. This you can find in System Preference - Keyboard Shortcuts. This shortcut is user editable, not hard coded. So an application has to do what the user selects in Keyboard Shortcuts. In OOo 3.0.0 RC2 de Intel it works if user don't change the standard of cmd+, but does not work if the user choose some other combination in Keybord Shortcuts. In Mac OS Home, End, Page up, Page down is equivalent to moving the scrollers, so they only scroll and don't change the focus! I didn't found a exact guideline for navigation in spreadsheets (OSXHIGuidelines.pdf) and even Apples iWork suite is not a good paragon in using there own standards! In the sheets application Numbers there is NO navigation except moving from cell to cell by Arrow Keys. That's poor. I would suggest the following as the closest Mac-way: View first cell of sheet Home (like use the scrollers) View last cell of sheet End (like use the scrollers) View a cell one page up Page up (like use the scrollers) View a cell one page downPage down (like use the scrollers) Set focus to first USED cell in row cmd+Arrow left Set focus to last USED cell in row cmd+Arrow right Set focus to first USED cell in col cmd+Arrow up Set focus to last USED cell in col cmd+Arrow down Set focus to first USED cell of sheet -not defined- (it is easy to use cmd+Arrow up and cmd+Arrow left) Set focus to last USED cell of sheet -not defined- (it is easy to use cmd+Arrow down and cmd+Arrow right) And let me say: great work is done from the Aqua team! The blue border is rotating the buttons by TAB. Choosing the button with the border by pressing Spacebar. OpenOffice: Save Don't Save Cancel where no button is chooceable by keyboard The order of the buttons is wrong and the preallocation to keyboard keys is missing. Palagin, I don't think, that this issue is related to 59745. The anchor of the notes are moving with the cells, and the position of the notes seems to be stored absolutely on the sheet. In this issue (85791), the anchor (of pics) is moving into an other cell. I'm not worked into the source code, but for me this seems to be quite different. Therefore I hope not to wait for a fixed issue 59745 to start this one. Working with pictures in cells is not useable until this issue is fixed. Is formatting the right Subcomponent? Could you please set a target milestone? Thanks, Kai - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85791 Issue #|85791 Summary|Anchor of a picture in cell jumps to cell above Component|Spreadsheet Version|OOo 2.3.1 Platform|All URL| OS/Version|All Status|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard| Keywords| Resolution| Issue type|DEFECT Priority|P3 Subcomponent|formatting Assigned to|spreadsheet Reported by|kai_m --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Feb 1 10:07:47 + 2008 --- Insert a picture by file to (for example) cell C10, set anchor to cell. Anchor is now in cell C10. Now increase the hight of row 9 and the anchor will move to C9. After this move, it stays there, even if I increase the hight of row 9 again. It does not depend why the hight increases. It also happens if the hight increases because of inserting text with word wrap in a col of the row above. If i decrese the hight of row 9 the anchor stays in cell C10. After this I can increase the hight of row 9 without moving the anchor out of cell C10. I tryed to set the anchor after inserting the picture by file to page and back to cell, does not help. An other defect in maybe the same manner is that many pictures at a column get y-offsets in high row numbers (i.e. row 300). I can reproduce it with OOo 2.3.1 on W2K (both german language) and with NeoOffice 2.2.2 Patch 8 on MacOS X 10.5.1 and wiht older versions of OpenOffice. Hope that help to fix the defect. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It seems to work in that way: decrease it, klick to the picture than increase it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
