In "For production, please use the most recent stable version." on that page,
the "most recent stable version" link is actually to
http://download.openoffice.org/next/index.html, i.e. to the same developer
snapshot page.

Sorry for a wrong description of the example as "text/plain". Also, this bug
seems to only occur when the text n a different case is entered in the same
column.

This is an extremely annoying bug, since the document I am translating now has
many places where they have "SOME_HEADING" in a cell, and then "Some_Heading"
(exactly the same but in a different case) in the same column. (And I wouldn't
like to switch autocompletion off, since I need it in many cases.)

You type, say, WORD_1 in the upper case, and word_2 in the lower case. Suppose
you need word_1 and WORD_2 as the contents of other 2 cells in your speadsheet.
As soon as you start typing, autocompletion suggests WORD_1 and word_2,
respectively. However, you don't need that, so you continue and type word_1 and
WORD_2 manually. However, as soon as you press "Enter", the case will change to
whatever occurred the first. More to it, if you type, say, word_1_3 or
WORD_2_4, OOo will let you do that, but as soon as you use "Delete"
or "Backspace" in those cells to remove the "extra" part of the words, they
will change their case again.

See the attached file and try to manually enter "uppercase" or "LOWERCASE" in
any of the empty cells.

This is not a final.

I understand that :). Have been using various kinds of software for ca. 25
years :).

>For QA tests, it is not a good idea to use the "production"
laptop.

I know. The matter is, I actually do not use it for QA tests: those are just a
side result. This is _one_ of my "production" (= mostly handling of my
translations) machines, and I have to decide whether to buy another MSO license
for it (which I am inclined to at the moment), or OOo will suffice. So, since
Beta has been stable enough, I keep both a trial of MSO 2007 (in order to
compare things and open MSO files which OOo cannot open), and OOo 3.0 where I
try to do many things. By the time of 3.0 final release (and expiration of MSO
trial), I will finally make my mind as to the software suite to use. (As I
already said, I will probably spend some bucks for MSO, which still seems to be
better for me in some respects, and its cost is not that high), but we will
see.

Thanks a lot, I will download and try the latest DEV build. Is its stability
moreless the same as Beta 2? I have been (mostly successfully) trying Beta 2 on
my "production" laptop; would hate to see many more problems with DEV300m26 or
later builds...

This may help as a workaround for the systemintegration:
http://blogs.sun.com/GullFOSS/entry/system_integration_for_ooo_3

I tried this, and it works somehow, except for Microsoft Word 2007 files,
i.e. .docx. Funnily enough, swriter does not appear in the list, and if you
select swriter.exe manually via "Other", nothing changes and the file still
opens with MS Word. However, you can select scalc.exe, sbase.exe, or even
sdraw.exe, and in all those cases the .docx file is actually opened with Writer.
Should I report it as a separate issue? Or should I not report it,
since "setup.exe WRITE_REGISTRY=1" seems to be a temporary hack anyway?

Sorry guys, there has been a funny mistake on my side. It turns out I entered
an extra letter in my e-mail address the first time I tried to log in using
that address. Since I have autocompletion set ON in my browser, that wrong
version of the address was hinted every time, and I tried and used it to no
avail without even noticing that extra letter in-between. Now I entered the
address manually; it works, and, seeing two versions in the form "hint", I can
now see that there was a wrong version with an extra letter. My apology again
for overloading all of you with unnecessary checks.

It does _not_ work here. Yes, I use my address from the profile, i.e.

In addition, it's a bit strange I didn't get any e-mail notification you marked

When a very simple file (see the attachment) is opened in OO 2.4.1, the list
has no numbers in it. The same applies to OO DEV300_m21 build, I want to use
OO, but I have hundreds of my real documents (contracts etc, all of them being
RTF) I have to continue to use, and they all have this numbering problem when
opened in OO.

At http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/Login?cookieCheck=on, "Username or email"
is requested. However, when I enter my e-mail address which I used when
registering, I cannot log in. Username works fine. It is probably worth either
setting proper e-mail handling or removing that "...or email" part from the
login prompt.
