One of the artefacts is an invisible vertical line down the screen, at some arbitrary point, whereupon the left and right sides of the screen are slightly staggered, by less than a millimetre usually. I suspect this is part and parcel of the buggy graphic memory handling in Writer. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. In MSWord it's ^p for an end-of-paragraph or for two in a row: ^p^p. Have you seen the numerous angry threads on this topic in the open office forum? This is a deal breaker for many people. Now "smooth scrolling" is not far different to ordinary scrolling, that is, a bit jarring and jumpy. Whatever they've done to fix the screen refresh problem has also resulted, unfortunately, in a loss of a sense of sliding, liquid screen. The machines I have are Dell and Sony laptops, one with a ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 (256 MB) and one with a ATI X300 card. FYI, ATI has about 30% of the market in graphics cards, and since kpalaqin found the same issue with the other big kahuna in graphics, nVidia, you cannot, in all good faith, possibly mark this as a "worksforme" error.
