This issue is similar to Issue 101854, but I don't know if it is the same.
Should it be marked it as a duplicate of this issue?

On second glance, this problem seems to apply to all fields, whether it is in a
spreadsheet cell or any of the modules control forms.

That being said, I agree that this is probably a duplicate. They both talk about
different things, but they seem to be the same problem. If problem is caused by
the same code, perhaps the bugs should be somehow merged?

The delete key does not delete individual characters in cells or fields in this
version. It works in deleting whole cells, rows, columns, etc.

One easy way to reproduce:
1) Double click on a cell and type something in it.
2) Try to edit the cell by deleting a single character by using the delete key.

Expected Results: The character is deleted.

Actual Results: It won't delete. Backspace must be used instead.

fst, it's kind of like the metric system. Everybody uses it except for America
and maybe Britain. It would suck for Americans if they all suddenly were forced
to change from customary measurements to metrics, but the world would be better
off overall, including America in the very long-run (I say this as an American
so I hope no one is offended by this), because of the benefit of
standardization.

Shouldn't this be applied to all components instead of just presentation?
