Correct, if I define a Data Range and then select it and try to use the
Standard Filter... it works correctly.
However, to me, it's a bug - If Autofilter headers can't be detected correct as
I describe, users will think
that the filter function isn't working when they are trying to use the Standard
Filter function.

I have started to use OpenOffice as my primary Office Suite and I'm using Calc
a lot... While using the AutoFilter function (Data - Filter - Autofiler) I
discovered a few bugs, which I think are related.

Scenario: (see attachment)
If you create a sheet1 with only column headers - e.g. HEADER1...HEADER3 and
active Autofiler - no problems.

Issue/Bug:
If you then create a sheet2 with a sheet header, e.g. 'My Budget' and then in
row 2 adds HEADER1...HEADER3 as above and the turn on AutoFilter. Problems!
First of all, the AutoFilter dialogs on sheet1 are turned off and on sheet2
your are able to choose a specific value to filter, but you can't really use
the 'Standard
Filter' function, as the headers no longer are recognized, the Standard Filter
dialog shows only the ColumnA...X as field names not the column header titles.

Workaround:
I found, that if I add a empty Row between the sheet header, 'My Budget' and
the first column header e.g. in row 3, no issues. ???

I have just imported a large Microsoft Excel file into OOO 3.0.1. The
spreadsheet uses the COUNTIF function, but it didn't have be the same result as
in Excel.

Then I checked the formula and I found that OOO doesn't allow the use of
wildcard when using CountIf.

If you e.g. want to count Columns with more words (text) in each cell, the
function fails.

Please see my attached Calc file.

Correct as stated by TomWb, to use wildcards with the COUNTIF function I need to
use Regular Expressions. But - this should then have been 'catch' by the Excel
Importer function, cause otherwise many people will see this as something OOO
can't handle which isn't true!

In OpenOffice 3.0.1 on Mac and Windows;

I create a, let's say a 4 by 4 table, then adding some titles for the headers
and some text.. so fare so good.
Then I format the table so that the outline borders of the table lines are a
bit larger than the lines inside
the table (see attachment). Looks fine, but then I need to add more information
to my table, so I TAB to
the end of the table, one more TAB and OpenOffice adds a new row to my table,
fine, but the formatting
are not looking good, the thicker outline lines are copied to the new
row/cells, but it should only had been
the outline lines instead of every cell.
