@peterlairo: Well I'm confused... Thunderbird 3 and SeaMonkey 2 use the exact
same code:

What more damage than good are you referring to?

OOo is picking up the appropriate path for Thunderbird (linux) at:

What file contains the default paths?

Agree. Confirmed by Bitdefender Antivirus staff:

The analysis of the files has been completed with the following results:

The application is a crack/patcher for Open Office 3.2.1; It is not malicious,
therefore, detection will not be added.

I reckon that AVG the others are reporting a false positive. Sorry for

Cor, I only initially tested by opening the
tstIssue108408_PasteThisTableAsRTFMakesOOoCrash.odt

I've just opened your first attachment
tstIssue108408_PasteThisTableAsRTFMakesOOoCrash5.odt
and followed the instructions to select paste the table as RTF. I pasted the
table both in the above doc, and in a new doc neither crashed using 3.2RC3
(buildid=320m10(Build:9477)).
I'll need to retest using buildid=320m8(Build:9472) on another system as I now
have 320m10 installed on this system.
Ubuntu 9.10 2.6.31-18-generic (Gnome), 2.4Ghz/1GB/nVidia NV25GL [Quadro4 900

OK. I've tried the above (copy table and paste as RTF) in both
buildid=320m8(Build:9472) and buildid=320m9(Build:9476) as well, and no crash. I
can also try in 320m7 if you'd like.

No issues with tstIssue108408_PasteThisTableAsRTFMakesOOoCrash.odt in those
either.

One thing I should note, although it shouldn't have anything to do with the
crashes you may be seeing, is that my user profile for my standard OOo's are
located in /home/username/.openoffice.org3. In order to have standard OOo
installed with the Ubuntu OOo, I always modify the bootstraprc to:
UserInstallation=$SYSUSERCONFIG/.openoffice.org3/3

Can't get it to fail in m8; then again I wasn't able to get it to fail in m7
either. I wouldn't mark the issue as fixed just yet as this problem seems to be
intermitent. Let's give it a few more days I'll keep testing with the test
files here (on m8), as well as those on the launchpad 244353 and see if I can
get one of them to fail.

So the decision not to activate the patch was right. I don't know if the users
of the go-oo.o build prefer new features over product quality, I don't believe
our users will do it.

We have reported the bug to the go-oo.o guys at the OOoCon in Bejing last year,
I hope that some day it will be fixed.

I suppose that there may be issues with the patch/work provided by Florian, but
at least he provided work (perhaps buggy?) that progressed beyond the standard
OOo forms. I'm not a dev, but a user that sincerely wishes to see OOo installed
in corporate and government sites, but that is unlikely to happen if this is not
resolved (see: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=79720).

Not to be confrontational, but have you ever used an OOo form based document on
a daily basis in a corporate or government environment, or know of any that do?
If so, how did you train them to do this?

Regarding your comments to JBF: It is generally helpful when others test on
alternate OS's. This helps to determine if the problem is OS specific.

I cannot reproduce on OOo 3.1.0 buildid=310m11(Build:9399). I was able to open
both files
  cannot open with OOo 3.1.ods
  does_not_open_with_OOo_3.1_2nd_example.ods
without issue on the following:

Linux
WinXPPro (both local and across my network)
Win2KPro (both local and across my network)

For the network tests I opened as a copy and read only; both methods work.

I also tested This file contains links to other files. Should they be updated?
by opening with both options: Yes and No. Selecting 'Yes' of course doesn't
updated the data for those missing links, example:
='file:///M:/listini/Listini_Impronta/Lis_porte/Listino_2009/Calcolo_prezzi/A1_Materie_prime.ods'#$Mat_prime.H39
but that is expected.

Odd... I find that if I try on a new Calc spreadsheet I get the same as you.
However if I use an existing spreadsheet I cannot do this. I wonder if perhaps
the existing spreadsheet (an imported .xls) is the issue where by the cells are
formatted differently. I'll try to do some additional testing tomorrow add
some screenshots. Thanks for testing on your systems.

OK. Just tried again with the original .xls that I was testing with and now it
works without issue. Odd. I wonder if it was an issue with the system copy
paste (Ubuntu 8.04.1 - Gnome). Until I can reliably reproduce (again) I'll

The same occurs after inserting a sound from the gallery. The sound object can
only be selected via Ctrl-click. This does not occur in 2.4.2 where you can
select the sound object with a standard single-click.

Confirmed as 'Works For Me' on linux (Ubuntu 8.04.1).

@Phil: Regarding no hotfix; the diff files show a relatively minor change:
http://bonsai.go-oo.org/cvsview2.cgi?command=DIFFsubdir=util%2Fcomphelper%2Fsource%2Fmiscfile=mediadescriptor.cxxrev1=1.20.20.1rev2=1.20.20.2whitespace_mode=showdiff_mode=context
so would a 'hotfix' not be possible?

Note: I'm a 'user' rather than a developer so I have no clue as to what such a
'hotfix' would require. However, given the importance of this fix (from
complaints on the user mailing lists) could a possible 'hotfix' be reviewed?

Understand. Perhaps the solution is to not install these dictionaries as default
and instead let the user decide which dictionaries to install instead...

This issue has carried forward to OOo 3.0. Opening the OOo 3.0 .odp file in
the following (all linux) resulted in complete loss of the bullets
indentations/paragraph formating:

- OOo 2.4.1
- Ubuntu OOo 2.4.1
- StarOffice 8
- Lotus Symphony 1
Note: Opening in StarOffice 9 Beta was fine

Now the interesting part is: if the OOo 3.0 Impress file is saved as an
MS Office Powerpoint file (.ppt), that file opens just fine in the above
and retains all the bullets indentations. Pretty embarrassing that OOo
3.0 Impress can save as .ppt and retain it's bullets formating, but
saving as an .odp and opening in earlier versions of OOo it does not.

Yes, starting soffice as root works. However, the user should never have to run
as root to disable or remove an extension.

Further, doing so creates an OOo user profile in the root directory. I've no
idea if this could be a security issue, but even if it does not, it adds an
unnecessary 2.3MB OOo root profile folder.

This is marked as Fixed; however is it actually fixed, or instead merely a
workaround? Is there a build/code to test the 'fix'?

Does the 'fix' transfer the personal data (meaning user data, OOo settings etc)
even if the extensions are held back? I would find that scenario to be an
acceptable compromise as it is not to difficult a task to reinstall most
extensions. However at least the standard personal data user settings from the
previous/existing OOo profile should be able to be copied to the new OOo without
libdb involvement.

Standard installation instructions:
http://download.openoffice.org/common/instructions.html
[Unpack and install the downloaded OpenOffice.org 2.0 files]
implies that OOo can be installed without requiring administrative rights.

However in Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) a Standard User that is a member of the Power
Users Group, a user that is fully authorized to install and/or uninstall
programs is no able to install OOO300M7 without administrative rights (see the
screenshot).
I have not had time to test on WinXPPO, but I suspect that the issue will be the
same.

Note: OOo3RC2 (OOO300M7) installs without issue if: 1) administrator rights are
used, or 2) the user is logged on as an administrator.

Recommendation: Allow a Standard User that is authorized to install/uninstall
programs to install OOo3RC2, but flag so that the installation is not for all
users as stated in the installation instructions:

quote
Unpack and install the downloaded OpenOffice.org 2.0 files
[snip]
   5. Read the license, select I accept the terms in the license agreement,
and click Next.
  The Customer Information window appears.
You may leave this form blank, or enter your User Name and if applicable,
Organisation.

Note: If you logged in as administrator you will be prompted to install
for all users.
/quote

Or change the installation instructions to reflect that only user with full
administration rights will be able to install OOo3.

Tested on linux (Ubuntu 7.10) and found the following when copy and pasting all
from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing/:

OOo 2.3.1 - images (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/htdocs/ubuntu/img/u-www.png - globe)
displays properly. Takes a few seconds for the images to resolve.

OOo 2.4.1 - images appear a square box with the the image cannot be displayed
because it contains errors.

OOo DEV300_M22 - images appear a square box with the the image cannot be
displayed because it contains errors.

All three OOo's were open at the same time on the same machine so it cannot be a
network connection issue. Tools|Options|Writer|View}Graphics and Objects is
checked on all three. Screenshots attached.

I found that I needed to completely remove M21 (including /opt/ directories and
/home/user/.ooo-dev3) in order to install M22.

After removing all of M21, the M22 installation completed without any problems
on Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) and Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy). I'll attach a copy of my install
session for Gutsy.

I have just tested using my original:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing

Select:

CD Distribution Materials

 [thru]

  Artwork for Ubuntu stickers

on M22:

[Version]
AllLanguages=en-US
buildid=300m22(Build:9321)
ExtensionUpdateURL=http://updateext.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update
OOOBaseVersion=3.0
ProductBuildid=9321
ProductMajor=300
ProductMinor=22
ProductPatch=
ProductSource=DEV300
UpdateID=OOo-dev_3_en-US
UpdateURL=http://update30.services.openoffice.org/ProductUpdateService/check.Update?pkgfmt=deb
UpdateUserAgent=OOo-dev 3.0 (300m22(Build:9321); $_OS; $_ARCH;
BundledLanguages=en-US)

And this no longer crashes OOo. I also tested using the Windows M22 version and
it also did not crash OOo.

Can someone else please verify if so this bug can probably be marked as
resolved closed.

M19 apparently had the exact same issue, see:
http://qa.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=devmsgNo=10671

If OOo wish assistance in testing these versions, then the installation packages
must be corrected as well. Further, I'd appreciate it if you didn't change the
summary of the report. As mentioned:

quote
At first I thought
that perhaps the errors may have been due to not uninstalling m17 first, so I
ran the installs again after completely purging m17 including the /opt
directories and the /home/username/.ooo-dev3 directories. Install errors were
the same.
/quote

Leave the issue closed if you wish, but at this point I'm purging m20 as well It
fails installation and leaves broken packages on my systems.

Perhaps there is a language (or comprehension) problem here. So I'll try once
again:

m17 was _completely_ purged from my systems and _then_ I attempted to perform an
installation of m20. The result of that effort is provided in the initial post
of this bug.

The _clean_ installation of m20 fails due to dependency errors in two packages:
ooobasis3.0-binfilter and ooobasis3.0-en-us-binfilter. Hence _my_ summary
DEV300_m20 installation fails.

I've reopened the issue as I've demonstrated that there are installation issues
with m20 (and m19) that will need to be resolved for m21.

There is NO update issue regarding this bug, it is a standard installation
issue.

Further, m19 has the exact same issues (I've just performed the same
installation process on another _clean_ system). The control files in both
reference different files than those provided in the
Oo-Dev_DEV300_m20_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz and the
Oo-Dev_DEV300_m19_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz packages.

A copy of the control files for both m19 and m20 are attached. A copy of the m19
install terminal output is attached.

If these issues aren't fixed, then m21 will continue to have the exact same
_installation_ problems. Closing/wontfix isn't a solution. Changing the summary
so that it is clearly false and misleading with regard to what the reporter
submitted won't help resolve the issue.

OS: Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 linux. Also Test with Win2KP and Windows XP.

I just recently modified a CD label for Ubuntu using this PDF:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing?action=AttachFiledo=gettarget=ubuntu_CD_804.pdf

From: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DIYMarketing

File opens and can be modified with pdfedit and Adobe Acrobat 6. However when
opening with OOo 3.0 M17 the CD label graphic is missing and only the text
appears.

Other PDF's that I have tested do import the graphics, so perhaps it is an eps

Tested with linux (Ubuntu 7.10 - Gutsy - 2.6.22-14-generic) installed as a
parallel install in the user home directory.

The results are the same as the test with the Win2KPro: tabbing and entering
data in the form boxes works great, shift-tab moves back to the previous
properly, but tabbing skips over the form drop-downs.

@Cor:

You can test with the New Zealand 'Ship Inward Report' listed here:
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=79720
http://www.customs.govt.nz/nr/rdonlyres/af900edf-a296-450a-a78b-d3f190e234b7/0/formc1new.doc
To see how the document might appear to customs agents, protect the section
allow editable in read only document (File|Insert Section).

@Florian:

I've tested with the Windows version (in Win2KPro via a VirtualBox VM) and the
results are as in October: tabbing between form sections work, however the tabs
skip still over the drop-downs on the form. I used the Atlanta Police form
(Preliminary Investigation Report) that we tested with previously for this. Can
you please test using that document? If you need it again, let me know and I'll
send it to you directly.

Failure to tab to the drop-downs is a showstopper IMO as: 1) the feature is
inherent in MS Word documents with forms those users will be accustomed to
this, and 2) in the real life case; the police officer will not be able to
easily complete the report if he/she needs to screen touch or mouse back to the
drop-down sections. Ditto for a customs agent, or anyone else that have forms
with drop-downs.

I am having difficulty with the linux version as I found that I need to
install as a parallel version; it interferes with the existing Ubuntu (U)OOo and
the installed 3.0BetaM14 version. It's not a big problem, I'll test with linux
by tomorrow.

I very much would like to see these changes for 3.0 (final), so I will be happy
to assist with any testing you'd like.

Some additional info:

The attachment was tested in the following linux OOo versions and opened
properly in Writer:
OOo 2.3.1
OOo 2.4.0 (also tested in Ubuntu (U)OOo 2.4.0)
OOo 3.0 Beta

Then tested in the following Windows XP OOo versions and exhibited the reported
behavior (opening in Calc instead of Writer:
OOo 2.3.1
OOo 2.4.0 (also tested in Windows 2000 Professional)
OOo 3.0 Beta (also tested in Windows 2000 Professional)

This appears to be a Windows only related bug, but further testing with MAC
Solaris would need to be done in order to confirm.

Just to add to this; from a standard Calc file - File|Save As|dBase (.dbf) also
does not work in linux OOo3.0devM7 (buildid=300m7(Build:9293)) and results in:

Error saving the document document name:

I can confirm using labels:

I created a new label document (File|New|Labels) and found that if I
use Zip in the Calc column heading the zip field appears properly. However,
if I use P.C. in the Calc column heading, I end up with an empty field.

[graphics-issues] [Issue 82676] Graph lines disappear when legend was changed

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=82676

--- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Nov 10 02:20:27 +

Please *unmark* the issue as resolved. I *can* reproduce the bug and have done
so on the following using the
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/49013/GIVING%20TREND%20STUDY%202007.ods
attachment:

Linux: OpenOffice 2.3
Linux: Ubuntu OpenOffice 2.3
Linux:Professional: StarOffice 8/8
Windows: Go-oo OpenOffice 2.3

I *cannot* reproduce using StarOffice 8/7 (Windows or linux).

However I also discovered the following:

1. The document contains a style type called Excel_Builtin_Currency. If this
style type is deleted, and the entire spreadsheet is then set to Default, the
datapoints remain and the graph can be edited. I am unsure of where this
Excel_Builtin_Currency comes from, but suspect that it is perhaps part of an
OOo Excel to OOo filter.

2. If I save the document as is to an MS Excel .xls file, I can reopen in OOo,
the datapoints are preserved *and* I can then edit the graph without removing
the Excel_Builtin_Currency style.

3. If I open the saved .xls file in MS Excel 2002, the file opens fine and all
datapoints are present.

4. If while in Excel 2002 I click on cell A1 and then select:
Format|Style I get a rather odd style. The style name is Currency, and it is
listed as number format w/no borders. But the number format is listed as
Custom and is given as mm:ss, indicating that the style is actually a time
format (minutesminutes:secondsseconds) rather than a traditional currency number
format.

5. If I attempt the above on the
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/48947/Graph%20Bug.ods
file I find:

a. Removing Excel_Builtin_Currency and reformating all to Default does not
correct the problem in any of the above mentioned programs (including StarOffice
8/7).

b. If I save the Graph%20Bug.ods file to an .xls and then attempt to open in MS
Excel 2002, Excel hangs and the file does not ever open completely.

To reproduce all that is needed is to follow the original bug description and
double-click on a graph with datapoints. The datapoints disappear with the
Excel_Builtin_Currency style in the spreadsheet.

Added note: I've found that on the Going Trend Study 2007.ods file, if I
format all of the cells in Row 2 to Currency, the OPS Giving 9 Year Trend graph
can be edited and the problem goes away. Not so on the Graph Bug.ods file.

Tested in WinXPPro linux.

I'd asked Harry (using WinXP) if perhaps he was running an AMD 64 and his reply
back was:

quote
No.

I had not tried to use Oo since the bug was initiated. The other day I tried
to open a file and got the what program menu and I selected swriter for
the heck of it. It ran me through initialization and then into Writer. I
don't know what could have changed that would make it suddenly work
/quote

So perhaps it's an system file association/initialization problem?

For of: Please note that another user on the users mailing list (Harry Petree)
had the same problem with Windows XP SP2, so this does not appear to be only a
Vista problem. I do not know if Harry was running an AMD 64 - perhaps that is a
common thread as both Scott affinitymc are.

needmoreinfo may be the appropriate status, however IMO the developers *should
advise* as to how to obtain that info, and what additional info is needed. It's
critical that this issue be resolved as it prevents these users from installing
2.x OOo.

Yes! Initial test using the NZ Customs form on linux (Ubuntu Feisty 7.04) works!
Even the check boxes work as expected. Thank you so much for working on this
Florian.

Tested on a police department form - fill-in boxes work, drop-down tables work
however tabbing skips the drop-down tables so you need to use the mouse to get
to them. If you'd like the police department form, I do have permission to send
it to you directly.
