Controls in a writer document are removed during mail merge.

To reproduce:
- create a new writer document
- add some merge mail fields from the Bibliography database
- show the Form-Controls toolbar
- add some controls of different types
- run the mail merge wizard

in the resulting document only option fields (radio buttons) and text fields
are preserved.

I would expected all types of controls to survive the mail merge.

Sorry, I was a bit in a rush while writing my description. Firstly the issue
number in the second paragraph should also be 74187.

Opening the first attachment in that issue (id 42743) takes more than 2
minutes. You can see clearly how the controls are created slowly. The other
attachment (id 44704) starts opening up with some controls but than blocks the
CPU forcing me to kill OOo.

Testing with RC1 and RC2 of OOo 3.0 we found that some of our files do open up
really slowly (several minutes). Searching for a testfile for your issue
tracker, we found this problem to show up with attachment 44704 from issue
74187.

This might be a follow up to issue 74107 but OOo 3.0 takes a lot longer to open
the file than version 2.4. This is a serious regression.

In my XML form text field I have a xml data binding with type string and max
length set. During form filling this max length is not enforced. The text field
gets a red marking and moving the mouse over this field informs me about the
max length but it is not prevented to enter more than 10 characters.

In a normal writer documents text fields the max length can be set in the
controls properties and this enforced during form filling using a message box
and trimming off excessive characters.

I'd like this enforcement (maybe optional) aswell in xml forms.

I'd like to use the autotext feature (F3 and Ctrl+F3) when filling forms and
XML forms. Apparently this doesn't work, ie typing the shortcut and hitting F3
to replace with the predefined text doesn't respond.

It works fine in design mode outside of form fields.

I did some more testing on the performance issue. The problem seem to be
complex XPath expressions in the bindings. Thus I changed the sample file to
contain some more complex bindings. This documents takes between 30 and 40
seconds to open and typing in the text field is really slow.

[sw-issues] [Issue 61370] XForms and XPath: relative reference inside a predicat

I stumbled over the same bug using OOo macros (see: http://www.oooforum.org/
forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=53759) and did a bit of research.

According to the DOM XPath specifications (see: http://www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-
3-XPath/xpath.html#XPathExpression-evaluate) context node should be the node
from where the expression is evaluated. This is also the (expected) behavior
implemented in Xerces and MSXML.

Looking into the source of the OOo implementation of the XPath evaluation
(unoxml\source\xpath\xpathapi.cxx) and there into the 'eval' and
'selectNodeList' functions it is clear, that the evaluation of XPath
expressions in the context of an element other than the root element is not
possible as the function call for the evaluation is always done with the
document node.

Without any further investigation, the problem seems to be the usage of
xmlXPathNewContext with accepts only a document node as parameter (http://
xmlsoft.org/html/libxml-xpath.html#xmlXPathNewContext). The returned context is
a structure that also contains a 'node' member. Maybe it helps to set this
'node' member before calling xmlXPathEval.

According to the mailing list for libxml this should work (see for example
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/xml/2006-October/msg9.html).

Hope this helps to implement this feature in the near future. Thanks.

In a XML form, modifying a field's content isn't recognized as modification of
the document thus it isn't possible to save the changes made.

To reproduce:
- Create a new XML form
- Drag the default XML element form the instance into the form to create a text
  field
- change to 'filling mode' and save the document
- enter some text into the text field: the save button in the toolbar isn't
unlocked thus saving isn't possible. Ctrl+S doesn't work either.

When an XML form contains a lot of controls that are linked to nodes in an
XForms Instance working with the form is very slow (CPU usage is at max) in the
following cases:
- typing text into the form fields
- switching to and from design mode
- editing the form (format of fonts, tables etc; position of controls; ...)
- nearly every time upon saving: the cursor jumps to all fields with tab stop
one after the other before saving. This is especially annoying during auto
save as the focus of the current field is lost.

kpalagin:
On my system (AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB RAM) the characters don't appear as you
type but some milliseconds later. This is even more noticable within a more
complex document and on slower machines. In a new document with only the
textbox the characters typed appear instantly.

Sorry, but I have upgrade to 2.1 a while ago. I'm doing a lot of macro
programming on the same document and the error seems to happen when OOo crashes
a number of time on the same document (which is quiet usual during macro
debugging and execution). As I have learned some of the traps which let OOo
crash I do avoid them and OOo crashes less often. Thus I did not see this
behaviour upon saving for a while.
In regard to the profile: I can't attach the document in question here because
it contains sensible internal data I don't want to post in an open forum. May
it help when I attach any other files (which?) from the profile if this issue
happens again?

I stumble over the same behavior today (OOo 2.0.4, WinXP Pro). Saving under a
new name worked fine. Looking in the backup directory showed about 100 backup
files for the original file name. Deleting these files allowed me to save the
document again.
Maybe this gives you a hint to reproduce the problem.

Submitting form data using XForms submission is a very nice feature but useless
to some of our clients if this can't be done to a SSL secured website (via
HTTPS). We don't want passwords and data in plain text over the internet.

This feature has already been asked for in the forum: http://www.oooforum.org/
forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=30964

Maybe this will be solved with issue 32935?

In the html-docs found at http://api.openoffice.org/docs/common/ref/com/sun/
star/module-ix.html it would be a great help if the documentation for an
interface or a service could list directly all inherited members (as it is done
for example in JavaDoc or in .NET documentation).
At the moment it is very time consuming to find out what can be done with a
certain object as one has to navigate through all parent services and
interfaces.

While this bug is being worked on, there is a workaround at http://
www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=178550#178550 using an EventListener
on the Document-Disposing event that does the job

Under Tools - Configure - Events in Writer there are two events regarding the
closing of a document: Document close and Document is closing (in German i.e
Dokument schließen and Dokument wird geschlossen.
The first is executed before the user is asked whether he is sure and whether
he wants to save and the second is executed when the document is really closed.
In my case, I want to implement the second but here is my problem: Writer seems
to dispose the basic code before the macro is executed thus throwing an error
upon closing the document.

To reproduce try the following:
- Create a new Writer document
- Create a macro.
  Sub DocumentIsClosing
 msgbox DocumentIsClosing
  End Sub
- Tools - Configure - Events - Document is closing - Assign -- select the
unnamed document - Standard - Modul1 - DocumentIsClosing -- OK -- OK
- save the document
- close the document -- Error in scripting framework:
  BasicProviderImpl::getScript: no script!

Apparently the scripts are removed, before the actual document is closed.

This would work if the code would be placed in a library outside the document.
But in my scenario described in http://www.oooforum.org/forum/
viewtopic.phtml?p=176559#176559 this is not practicable. I need the code to be
inside the document being closed.

My suggestion would be to keep the scripts until all relevant events have been
fired. Macros in a document should no rely on funtionality in an external
library.

Background:
Upon opening the document I assign listeners to form controls that have to be
removed upon closing. If this removal isn't done, OOo crashes.

P.S. If this isn't the correct component for the issue, please move it. I
wasn't very sure about which component to choose.

When filling a XML form there are situations when writer automatically scrolls
to the position the documents was last focused to while in edit mode.
2 situations where this happens are
- changing to edit mode while in user (filling) mode
- autosave while in user (filling) mode

This is very annoying when designing but even worse for our customers when they
fill the form and the autosave takes away the focus.

To reproduce the first situation:
Create a new XML form. Insert a text field, a page break and another text field
on the second page. Now save the document. Change to filling mode and scoll to
the top. Change back to edit mode. The document scrolls down automatically to
the second page!
