In my organisation we are discussing to replace our previous office software
with OOo. During my tests I have experienced that releases above 2.1 do not
support Windoes NT4.0.

Would it be possible to have a patch which allows e.g. OOo 2.2.1 to work with
NT4.0SP6.

Thank you for any response/discussion of this issue.

Recently my OOo has started to behave like what I described for 2.0.3, i.e. the
editing cursor position in the table is restored when the document is reopened,
but still with the described touch of randomness.

I do not want to divert the developer focus from more fundamental issues like
optimizing OOo for using less horsepower, enabling multiple sets of
header/footer lines in documents and improving the XY-charting options of scalc.

So I close this issue now.

Hi kpalagin and rainerbielefeld. Thanks for the replies.
1. The system used is WinNT 4.0 SP6. The document in my case involves a table
spanning several pages.
2. I agree that 43146 and 39486 address the same theme - more or less.
3. I wondered why two closely spaced versions behaved differently with respect
to this good feature.
4. If the feature is being considered, it could be a document (File-
Properties) setting rather than a OOo setting (Tools-Options) setting.
5. Issues 43146 and 39486 did not turn up when I searched the issue database.
If this issue is already visible for the developers, and others have expressed
the wish for this function, feel free to close this.

OOo seemingly does not save/restore cursor location when opening a .odt
document. With OOo 2.0.3 SWriter would ideally find the last saved cursor
location in the document and put the cursor there, OOo 2.1 locates cursor at
beginning of text. When I leave the document in question, the cursor is in a
table cell.

Actually it did not work perfectly with OOo 2.0.3 since saving with the cursor
in a cell in one row, it would locate the cursor in next row when reopening the
document. But that was just a minor deviation.

I did through settings in Tools-Options but was unable to convince 2.1 to
remember cursor position.

When searching for an existing document to open or print, but not knowing
exactly which file it is but you have an idea about the contents, it would be
handy with an optional instant preview or search files on disc
functionality. Could be part of the quickstarter - e.g. an option in the
[Quickstart]-[Open Document] window.

Dear developers.

I propose that it is given priority to reduce the pull on system ressources of
the program. Meaning more prompt startup time and - when not in use more
ressources free for other purposes. I use a 450MHz/128MB RAM machine, and my
experience is that the OOo suite is too heavy for that. To me that is a
limitation.

Maybe a more modular program structure would do ? Or better integration between
subcomponents ? I would highly appreciate progress on such technical front
before new graphics for the icons, Please.

I often need to visualize several curves of x-y data series in a single chart. I
have spend much time in vain looking for a way to assign data series for each
trace individually. That includes reading the on-line help, so I assume this
feature is not available. Example:

Curve 1: X-data: A1..A10, Y-data: B1..B10 (e.g. primary sample data)
Curve 2: X-data: A1..A10, Y-data: H1..H10 (e.g. Curve 1 after some
manipulation)
Curve 3: X-data: A18..A36, Y-data: B18..B36 (e.g. reference from previous
sample)

These three curves I need to plot in a single chart using the same Y-axis. Note
that:

Curve 1 - is trivial.
Curve 2 - has space in data range (columns B-G are skipped)
Curve 2 - has individual X-data range of different length and location

Other spreadsheets I have used have had this feature (Excel, 123, XSlite, SC).
If the feature is available, please give me a hint on how to address it.

And ... thank you very much for the efforts you put into OpenOffice.org.

When entering a timevalue in a cell (e.g. 21:43) and format is set to include
the date, (e.g. DD-MM- TT:MM). The system generated information is
30-12-1899 so the displayed value is 30-12-1899 21:43:00.

It would be logical to use the current system time for fill-in.

I don't believe the issue to be related to my system/hardware as functions like
now() and today() work well.

Dear developers. Thanks for OOo 2.0.
I use FreeBSD 4.11, and install OOo to run in that OSs Linux compatibility mode.
I have not had success with installing the rpm's supplied for linux. I propose
providing OOo 2.0 using the same installation technology as used for OOo 1.1.4
which runs flawlessly uder FreeBSD. Thanks.
