Thanks for the replies. 1. The system used is WinNT 4.0 SP6. The document in my case involves a table spanning several pages. 2. I agree that 43146 and 39486 address the same theme - more or less. 3. I wondered why two closely spaced versions behaved differently with respect to this good feature. 4. If the feature is being considered, it could be a document (File- Properties) setting rather than a OOo setting (Tools-Options) setting. 5. Issues 43146 and 39486 did not turn up when I searched the issue database. With OOo 2.0.3 SWriter would ideally find the last saved cursor location in the document and put the cursor there, OOo 2.1 locates cursor at beginning of text. When I leave the document in question, the cursor is in a table cell. Actually it did not work perfectly with OOo 2.0.3 since saving with the cursor in a cell in one row, it would locate the cursor in next row when reopening the document. But that was just a minor deviation.
