Cannot attach doc since it is confidential
The problem reproduces consistently on two different operating systems (on
separate computers)
on Ubuntu 9.04: OOO ver 3.1.1 : OOO310m19(Build:9420) from Ubuntu repositories
xpHome sp3: OOO ver 3.1.1 : downloaded from the official download site (english
version)

using writer on ubuntu 9.04, loading msword document, shows progress bar and
then grey application window - no menus.

Problem reproduces with any kind of loading: 
double click on document icon
right click->openwith 
starting writer then from menu: file:open

It all happens the same with windows xpHome.

Maybe similar problem solved by sun for starOffice 9 (issue 102018)
with patch: http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-142212-01-1
