[graphics-issues] [Issue 14832] Field Page Count is mis sing

And it is an easy-to-implement one. @cj: would you please write the specs for this ? It would be the same as for page count in Write. Just to give you a feeling why this is important: I admit, one can really enjoy as a speaker the panic and desperateness in the faces and eyes of the audience having swapped the slide 21 of 21 over to 22 of 21 while beeing just tigh on time with the PhD thesis presentation. Indeed, one can really enjoy such situation, nevertheless this should not happen during a conference talk and hence it is _important_ that one can get these automatically updated fields. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. To reproduce this: create new slide, insert button, assign some macro to mouseclick. Macro will be executed in windowed (edit) mode. In fullscreen, impress will proceed to next slide as if background was clicked. This is the status as of m138. Otherwise, the display of form controls is correct now (since cov2src patches in m135, issue 54364) but this new bug was probably introduced there. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 56889] New - fullscreen slide 'br owsing' speed (rendering)
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=56889 Issue #:|56889 Summary:|fullscreen slide 'browsing' speed (rendering) Component:|Presentation Version:|OOo 2.0 Platform:|All URL:| OS/Version:|All Status:|UNCONFIRMED Status whiteboard:| Keywords:| Resolution:| Issue type:|ENHANCEMENT Priority:|P3 Subcomponent:|viewing Assigned to:|wg Reported by:|plasmasam --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Oct 28 11:25:20 -0700 2005 --- This enhancement should not be extremely hard to implement and would have a significant impact on usability of impress for presentations. THE PROBLEM: The slide 'swapping' or 'browsing' in fullscreen is much faster in OO 2.0 now than it was in 1.1.x, however still slow compared to powerpoint. I mean the delay when when the sandhour in the left bottom corner is being displayed and when the next slide is being pre-rendered in the background. The trouble is, you want, e.g., skip back 5 slides during the presentation to react on a question from publicum and it takes just too long to get there. If you experienced such situations you will understand, this is really a trouble. THE ENHANCEMENT: I got already some nice proposals during last email conversation with HTH: Short-term solution: have a slide navigation menu, where you can directly select the slide you want to jump to (please file an enhancedment issue, if that's acceptable). Long-term solution: speed up rendering and make rendering preemptable (which it currently isn't - the renderer simply does not notice that the user has already clicked enough to be four slides further). I think a kind of slide-navigation menu or widget could do the work. However, one has to find some decent way how that should look like - a pop-up listbox window showing +5/-5 slide icons or their titles (using UP/DOWN keys and ENTER to select) ? But implementing preemptable rendering could be efficient as well and might be not that complicated. What about checking at least between every object being rendered for a keypress and quit render process in that case ? Otherwise, multithreading would be necessary. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. But there are still plentiful of bugs in 2.0, especially related with Word imports and, also, incompatibilities with documents created in OO 1.1.5. Interesting is, that there are just too many things that used to work in 1.1.5 and do not work in 2.0rc3. I've attached a 'real-life' document for testing. Here are my comments: 1. Contents on Page3: there are subsections (A.1...4, C.1 ...3 missing, view file in OO1.1.5 or M$Word for comparison) 2.The caption frame has got a very large shadow - it appears identical to other frames used for captions in MS Word and OO1.1.5. I can see this irregularity also in other documents. 3. there is something wrong about the page lenght - it seems to be longer in OO (both 1.1 and 2.0) probably due to improperly imported footnote height - see page 6. and compare with MSWord, the paragraph 2. has got here 3 more lines. (Hence the page numbers of the following points are related to the OO representation of the document) 4. I don't see page breaks - is there an option to show them (Formating aids) ? 5. Amazingly, tables are displayed correctly. But the table3 at page 12 has got incorrect size (too small - should be full page and landscape mode) - this works in 1.1.5 correctly 6. there is a minor issue with the width of the bottom row of the table on pages 24-30 And finally: OO doesn not respond to the horizontal scrollbar emulation of my touchpad - Are there any mappings to mouse buttons that work ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I attached a formula. I you view it (well it looks ugly) it is correct in both 2.0rc3 and 1.1.5. Now try to break it. In both versions, the metrics will get malformed. Further, in 1.1.5 the color remains unchanged but in 2.0 the color of all characters gets black. The same in OO Draw. If you copy this formula into Writer, it is not possible to Break the object (ok, I admit that it might not be supported in Writer since it is not a draw program..) So there is actually no way to change the color of the object. In impress, you cannot change the color unless you want to break the object. And an additional question - is there a way in OO to tell quickly which kind of object is it ? It would be nice to have some info in the context menu (right clicking). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Interesting is also that horizontal guides (eg. when resizing table row) appear dotted as in other installation (but they leave those trace as well). Option XaaNoMono8x8PatterFillRect 2. Option XaaNoScreenToScreenCopy Adding only the first one into the Screen section of the config will remove the garbage issue (guides left behind when moving). However, they will be still solid (not dotted as should be normally) and flashing during the move. Adding the second one will give the expected normal behavior (dotted guide, no flashing) but display is too slow since no BitBlt. Since all kind of other apps run ok on this system I still suspect bug could be within OO code. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. It occurs only in Writer and both in 1.1.x and 2.0rc2. Moving tabs in the upper ruler has the same effect. Interesting is also that the guides appear solid, not dotted as at other installations (same mandrake 10.2, Xorg 6.8.2, different graphic cards). This one uses ATI radeon m9 and SXGA resolution. Whereas the 4 rulers shown in Writer when moving e.g. a picture are dashed and working ok ! Guide traces dissappear when moving other window over Writer or scrolling page back and forth. An I have at least 10 more on the list... The problem is that this one and #49379 worked ok in 1.1.x series and that means that one cannot really go for 2.0 even when using only old presentations made in 1.1.x. Regarding OO Formula editor - it is barely usable in its current stage for anything more complex than a simple fraction. Writing a formula is too inefficient - I admit the syntax is at least a kind of similar to TeX but pretty inferior to type compared to TeX math syntax. The worst problem is the output quality. That is inferior even compared to MathType or Word editor. There are terrible metrics problems, subscripts are not positioned correctly, etc... The only way to include formulas into Impress presentation is to generate transparent PNG bitmaps from LaTeX, that's it. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Can be an improvement expected in 2.0 final ? There seem to be further issues with handling of metafile formulas - see the next attachment. The metrics/geometry is completely mixed up when OLE object is broken into parts. The problem of the metafile issue is that there is at the moment practically no way to import formulas from M$-Office/Mathtype. DRI and all other accelerations are switched on and work w/o problems with other software, no delays. It is also interesting that Openoffice is fast enough in normal view mode even if the window has size of full screen, but slow redraw happens only in full screen mode (during this a sand-glass clock appears in the left bottom corner). I think there should be not any problem to scale a PNG to 1400x1050 on 1.5GHz Centrino within few milliseconds. And even if not, the master slide backgrounds should be cached, are they ? - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Another question is why does it always take 2 seconds (on 1.5G Centrino with 1400x1050 display) to display the full page after pressing F5 and also if i want to switch to the next page in full screen ? It behaves unfortunately the same in OO 1.1.4. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. And the 2 sec delay is present during full screen display is present always on all systems I've seen so far with higher resolution screen and it is quite annoying when doing presentation and looking for some page back/forwards. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
