The Creator looks fine. You don't want to be setting the Type on document files (like the creator007.odt in the screenshot) to 'APPL'; that Type is reserved for applications. If you can't set the right Type per document type (which is what I take but we need to set them on the fly, what is not trivial (at least, I have no direct solution) to mean, you should not set the Type at all, or use '' as the Type instead, and just set the Creator and fix only half of this bug. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [sc-issues] [Issue 70140] Calc prints some cell bord ers with wrong thickness
To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=70140 --- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue Jan 16 19:38:04 -0800 2007 --- ovvldc is travelling across Africa at the moment. I don't have access to all the required software to produce new reduced-case, annotated spreadsheets/PDFs, but I have some familiarity with the bug, so let me add some notes based on the files ovvldc previously attached: Look the the border between Word Search and Word Search 1 (it's in the 3rd block). *All* the borders in the original spreadsheet are *identical*, 1.00pt in the XLS version and 0.50pt in the ODS version. AcrobatWin Neil was exported from Excel on Windows, and Excel Neil was exported from Excel on Mac OS X 10.4. Note that in these two PDFs, the border between Word Search and Word Search 1 is an identical width to all of the other borders between items in the left columns. Compare this to the same set of borders in OOoWin Neil (exported by OOo 2 on Windows) and PDF Neil (exported by OOo 2.0.3-based NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 on Mac OS X): the border between Word Search and Word Search 1 is much thinner than all the other border lines in the left columns, despite the fact that these borders (programmatically) are the same as all the others. Whether the problem is that a bunch of borders are too thick when printing/appearing in PDFs from OOo, or some of the borders are too thin, I can't answer, but it seems clear that OOo is making some of otherwise identical borders non-identical when printing/exporting to PDF. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I'm aware that the underlying code for these changed between the 1.0.x and 1.1.x codelines (most obvious in the appearance of the widget), but the behavior on Windows in 1.1.x is still the previous (and desired) behavior, so on Mac OS X it *should* behave the same way, too, but it doesn't. I've not tested any other Unix-like platforms, so I don't know if they behave like Windows or like Mac OS X. I also don't have regular access to a Windows machine so I can't get a screenshot of the proper behavior. mbrown3 did not cc him/herself to this bug :-) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. The problem generally arises on systems whose original Mac OS X version was 10.2. Apple used some non-ISO values (English, etc.) for locales in early versions and didn't upgrade those settings on upgrade to 10.2/10.3/10.4 (10.2 debuted with sensible values). FWIW, on an end-user level, this bad locale value bug can be worked around by deselecting the desired languages in System Prefs, quitting System Prefs, reopening and re-adding the desired languages, which will then be stored in the proper format (en, en_US, etc.). - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. [graphics-issues] [Issue 2497] allow import of SVG (Scala ble Vector Graphics)

While this will no doubt be a great solution for users on the official (Sun-produced-builds) OOo platforms, it will certainly be problematic for the two ports with the largest number of OOo users (according to OOo survey stats) because of the 1.5 JRE requirement. LinuxPPC seems to have some with 1.3.1 and some with 1.4.2, and on Mac OS X, 1.5 is only available to users of Mac OS X 10.4.x (while there are still significant numbers of Mac OS X users still on 10.2.x, not to mention 10.3.x). [porting-issues] [Issue 50502] Installation incorrectly changes owner, permissions on /, /Applications ; incorrect owner/permissons on OOo

Anyway... I don't know anything about the packaging process in OOo, but is it possible to have a script run chown on the files, and then on the son-called /Applications directory, before packagaing? Alternatively, I once read a tip (and I cannot find it now) that to avoid this bug, one should always tell PackageMaker to use / as the package's root and then build the proper folder hierarchy (i.e. $package_root - Applications - OpenOffice.org1.9.1xx - etc.) and give those folders and their contents the correct permissions. This is what I do for libwpd, but I do assemble the package manually. Option 3, which I came up with while typing the post, is maybe the easiest: a post-install script that fixes the ownership on /, /Applications, and the OOo hierarchy. Combined with a pre-install script that grabs the current owner/group on / and /Applications (I've read it is possible for pre-install to pass values to post-install, but this is beyond my skills), you reset the user's system to the precise way it was and set the OOo hierarchy to drwxr-xr-x root:admin like it should be. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. Unfortunately, the mpkg still messes up ownership on / and /Applications and /Applications/openoffice.org1.9.107 folder and its hierarchy (again set to my user 503, after I had repaired permissions and manually fixed the OOo hierarchy after filing this report). The read/write permissions are all fine, just the owner is bad. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. When OOo imports MS Word documents, the Greek symbols turn into boxes (as do some of the bullets) and changing fonts (eg. OpenSymbol) does nothing to make them readable (i.e., they are being imported with the wrong codepoints assigned). Attached is an MS Word 2001 (shares file format with Word 97/2000/XP) document with some lines of text in Greek and also an outline; the first-level bullet appears as a box (as does all of the Greek text). This problem is present in both 1.1.4 and 1.9.107 on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and is a great annoyance to Mac users in the sciences. ccing ericb in case this turns out to be a Mac-only issue--plus he can test LinuxPPC :) - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. These characters are properly kerned if they appear anywhere but as the first character of a line or if they are followed by another Extended Roman character. This kerning bug only occurs in Writer. There are a limited number of Mac OS X fonts which support these characters, but this is not a font bug--it's evident in Lucida Grande as well as third-party fonts like TITUS Cyberbit Basic, the GNU Free families, SIL's Gentium, and Everson Mono Unicode and Apple's TextEdit properly kerns these letters in all circumstances. When match case is not checked, and i and I and are all replaced, regardless of which charcater one is searching for. a. and i are not the same character and both should not be replaced when searching for (and match case is not checked); and I should be replaced. (In this case, it is clear there is a Turkish context to the search and and I are upper- and lower-case variants of each other. If the language is set to Turkish from the Format: Character window, this is doubly true, but even in non-language-defined settings, searching on the non-ASCII form should be unambiguous.) b. When searching for (and match case is not checked), and i should be replaced. (In this case, it is also clear there is a Turkish context to the search and and i are upper- and lower-case variants of each other. If the language is set to Turkish from the Format: Character window, this is doubly true, but even in non-language-defined settings, searching on the non-ASCII form should be unambiguous.) c. It is less clear what to do when i or I are searched; this is the only case in which it seems replacing all four characters might be valid. (Because i and I are both standard Roman and Turkish characters, the context of the search is unclear. OOo should first check the language of the character and use language-appropriate rules as suggested in a. and b.; what to do if none has been selected in the Format: Character window is still unclear.) 2. When match case is checked, only the character searched for is replaced; there is no confusion between and i or between I and . I will attach a Writer document with some example words. Running Mac OS X 10.3.7, but I imagine this is possibly a platform/OS All issue. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
