As per HR comment, the 64bit OpenOffice should work with 64-bit JRE. But this
is not working on Windows AMD platform whereas it works fine with Linux AMD
platform. COuld you please review this again?

Regards,
Shameem

Hi,
With 32-bit JRE on 32-bit machine(winodws/Linux), OO writer works fine, but
With 64-bit JRE on 64-bit machine(winodws/Linux), OO writer does not work and
throws an error like The selected JRE is defective. Please
select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options
- Openoffice.org - Java.

The java -version output (for failing OO application) is given below,
java version 1.6.0-internal
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pxa6460-20071008_01)
IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, J2RE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 Linux amd64-64 jvmxa6460-
20071005_14236 (JIT enabled)
J9VM - 20071005_014236_LHdSMr
JIT - r9_20071003_1817
GC - 20071002_AA)

I hope this information answers your query.
Waiting for your quick analysis and response.
Thanks,
Shameem

Hi,
I'm from IBM Java development team and I have one issue to discuss and get
resolved from your side.
I have installed OOo_2.3.1_LinuxIntel_install_en-US.tar.gz on Linux AMD-64
machine(Linux 2.6.18-53.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Oct 10 16:48:44 EDT 2007 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)as an administrator.
Then after installing the rpms, I opened up the soffice application . When I
change the Java to IBM Java6.0(Tools-options-java) and open File-Wizards-Web
page, an error message will pop up saying Openoffice.org requires a Java
runtine environment to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please
select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options
- Openoffice.org - Java.
I could also see the following output on console [Java
framework]sunjavaplugin.so could not load Java runtime library:
file:///usr/lib/jvm/java-1.6.0-ibm-1.6.0.0/jre/bin/classic/libjvm.so

One more thing I would like to inform you that openoffice is working fine on
other Linux platform like Linux IA-32 (Linux 2.4.21-37.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Sep 7
13:28:55 EDT 2005 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux)
I suspect that the OO application is looking for the sunjavaplugin.so which is
not found, does it need any configuration settings? but how come this is working
fine with other platforms with IBM java6. I would be grateful if you provide me
any desired solution to make it work. Please reply me at the earliest. Thanks in
advance

Regards,
Shameem
