Yesterday I had to reinstall my Windows XP x64.
This time I didn't install Jaws PDF Editor and Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0.3... I
only installed Adobe Reader 7.0.3. Now it works.
Maybe when there are other PDF readers registered/installed OOo has problems to
open embedded documents?
As I know, Jaws PDF Editor is able to be embedded in the browser, too. Maybe
this could cause these problems?

I tried it on a third computer now.
compaq nx9030
P4 M 1,7 GHz
Win XP Pro
OOo 1.9.125 (Beta 2)
Adobe Reader 7.0.3
there it worked too.

Then I updated OpenOffice on my first computer to 1.9.125 (Beta2) and tried it
again. Same problem still exists?!? (OOo hangs)

I've got a second pdf editor installed but this is not the default handler, as
you can see because M$ Powerpoint opens Adobe Reader 7 and not the other one.

Maybe the handling of opening OLE-Objects with severe (??) configuration causes
problems? Any idea to check this? How do you access adobe reader in OOo? via
CreateOleObject('class.name') ?? So maybe I could try something else?

After having a look on the xml inside the odt I saw that a bibliography entry
is
saved each time inserted. I first thought that each entry will be saved once in
the document and everywhere a bibliography entry is used in the document there
will only be a LINK to the main data of the entry, not saving all data every
where X times...
So I saw if I want to delete an entry, I have to search for all places where I
added the entry with the same ID and delete each...

So I now changed to the bibliography database to have a central management of
my
bibliography entries. When I change one, then it asks me to change all. This
works with bibliography entries in DB but not with bibliography entries in the
document ONLY. (I hope my description was not too confusing... however if yes,
tell me!)

Sorry I forgot.
I mean from the document.

It somehow worked after changing and editing and something more on the "edit
bibliography entry" dialog to get rid of one element but I think this was
just a result of the other bug I submitted here.

see attached file.
You see the ^ (it's a mathematic "and" -- font type symbol -- added with
autocorrect if you want to know where it came from [maybe there's a bug, too])

mark it, copy it to the clipboard (strg+c) and then double click on the blue
circle so you're in text edit mode.. then press strg+v and whoops the font style
is lost. You can even try to draw another new circle and paste the text... NO
WAY never works ;)

in edit --> bibliography entry --> there's no delete button... only modify,

Double entry produced when editing.

How to reproduce:
new document
insert - insert bibliography entry
add short name like test123 then anything as Type
press ok
then click on insert
then on close
then doubleclick on the [test123]
click on edit and enter test in the field "author" and click on ok
now on "modify"
the question asked click on yes (I think the old entry should now be changed?),
then click on close

now again insert a bibliography entry and whew test123 occurs 2 times?!?
when saving and repeating this some more times the entry will be completely
damages, I had it all information was moved to wrong other fields.
Field switch cause could be:
the dialogs to edit the entries look different on
Edit -> Edit Bibliography Entry -> Edit
and on
Insert -> Indexes ... -> Bibliography Index -> Edit

Also it's IMPOSSIBLE to DELETE an bibliography entry but for this issue I
created a new ticket.

I tried it again with Adobe Reader 7.0.2 and did it as described:
opened the hang.odp, then double clicked on the embedded pdf. Then OOo didn't
react anymore and I waited about 1 hour to see if it really hangs. But no
chance... I had to kill it.
OOo 1.9.118

And Adobe Reader is my default application to edit PDFs.
Embedded in my Firefox it works without problems.

Ok really bad way to insert images, but... maybe can be fixed in OOo.

Tabs of for example font settings or other dialogs aren't readable because
OpenOffice overrides the text color.

Normally the default color of inactive tab sheets should be white in this skin,
but OOo seems to override it and put it all times _black_ which results in not
readable text.

See attached screenshot.

I already asked the developer of the XP Skin about this problem and he told me
that the app overrides it instead of using the default color assigned by the
skin.

The problem exists on 32bit Windows XP Pro, too.

I've got a .doc (and same effect if converted to .rtf).
When I open this in OOo 1.9.104, save it as .odt then it's impossible to open
the .odt.

When there's an (special?) OLE object in the document and the document is saved,
focus switched to another application and back to OOo the real content
disappears and only a plug icon and "Object XY" appears. If you close the
document, and open the document again, the OLE objects appear.
When they've disappeared, they won't be exported to pdf, too.

Reproduce step by step:
1. open the document (attached here)
2. add a letter anywhere
2. save it
3. task switch to another app and back to OOo
--> objects missing

found another interesting thing now...

Exporting in OOo b95 to SXW, opening in OOo 1.1.4, adding the new chapter,
exporting to .doc then opening it in OOo build 95 the chapter numbering is
fixed.

BUT:
Marking the complete fixed document (by the way of odt(1.9.95)->sxw(1.1.4)-
>doc(1.1.4)->odt(1.9.95)) in OOo b95, copying this to a new document in OOo b95
(made of the same template as the original one) the chapter numbering is
broken,
again. :((

I tried to insert a new chapter (Topic 1) in the structure, but got a wrong
number. Example:
1
2
2.1
2.2
2.2.1
2.2.2
3
3.1
3.2
...
5.1
5.2
<-- inserted a new topic 1 (ctrl+1)
6
6.1

but the new topic got number 1 instead of 6?!
When I re-format manually all, I can repair it. But hard work...
Did it change between build 79 and 95? (had the problem in 93, too)
I even tried to export it to sxw and reimport... but didn't solve the problem.

See the attached file, there you can try it for yourself. (I truncated the
document to keep the focus on the problem)

After copying and pasting one of the OLE objects copy and paste gets dead.

Open the copy-bug.odt and a new document. copy one of the graphic documents
paste it in the new document. then try to copy a second one... impossible.
Even impossible to copy ANYTHING and impossible to paste ANYTHING (even when
copied outside of OOo).

Workaround: completely close OOo, even quickstart.

Problem exists in 1.9.91, too.
The only way to create a autocorrect list is to do the following:
create it in Ooo 1.1.4 and copy the OOO\user\autocorr\acor1031.dat to OOo 2.0 in
OOo2\share\autocorr\acor_de-DE.dat for german for example.

It seems it only works when "Only text" is checked. But then it's impossible to
add for example a rule to replace "-->" with an arrow symbol of Wingdings or any
other font.

When switching between documents first the wrong one will be opened then the
right one. You can reproduce it like this:

Create 3 OOo documents or open 3 ones so you have 3 tasks in your windows
taskbar and maximize all 3 documents.
Open 1 by clicking on it in the taskbar. All okay. Then click on the second. All
okay, too. But when you click on the third window while the mouse button is
down, the first OOo window is active (mouse down), but then when you leave the
mouse button (mouse up), then the 3rd window will be active.

I think only the 3rd window should be active?

If you play around a little bit with switching between OOo windows in the
taskbar you can see this effect more often.

Reproduced on
current 2.0beta and build 84.

Using WinXP SP2

see attached file.
When I open the document in OOo 2.0.79 (bc) the numbering is lost. I have to
reassign all numberings.

When I open the template in OOo 1.1.4 the chapter numbering is assigned. Both
are german versions.

Currently it's only possible to add new paths and delete old ones but not to
edit existing ones.

Options --> OpenOffice.org --> Paths

ie document templates --> edit

then you can only add or delete existing ones but not _change_ existing ones.
