The page also jumps to the cursor position if displaying Nonpriniting
characters is toggled on or off AND the section of text on the screen is
earlier in the document than the cursor position.

It does not occur if the text being viewed is after the cursor.

Just put up issue #114634, which has just been marked as a duplicate of this
issue.

In my opinion this should have higher priority. Displaying the cursor in the
wrong place surely is unacceptable? There are a number of basic problems with
the displaying of documents - at least on OSX.

1) Open any document when zoom is set to optimal, fit width, or fit width
height

2) scroll to position that does not display the cursor

3) re-size window

The display will jump back to the last cursor point.

4) This will also occur if zoom is changes to optimal, fit width, or fit width
height when the last cursor position is not in view.

I cannot imagine that this is intended? If I am reading through a document and
want to change the zoom why would I want to lose the section of text I am
looking at.

Sometimes when editing a document the cursor does not display in the correct
position - it is half a character ahead of the position it is at. So when one
goes to add or delete a character the wrong character is deleted or a character
is added in the wrong space. This is a pretty serious problem for anyone seeking
to do serious editing using ooo.

I will upload a picture (cursor-cropped.tiff). See that the cursor is directly
above the r. If delete is now pressed the g will be deleted!

A frustrating characteristic of writer is that in response to certain actions
the page location jumps around. This seems to be worse in 3.2.1 because I am
finding it increasingly intrusive when editing text.

Sometime this would seem to be unintended. For example, I just underlined a
heading and the viewing window jumped downwards to some text lower on the page.
I could not replicate this by underling something else in the text, but have
been aware of this behaviour for some time.

I am using 3.2 on the mac (intel 10.5) and the option to print section does not
come up on spreadsheet or on writer.

This is a pretty significant disadvantage. You might want to change the
component to all and give higher priority?

Since installing 3.1.1 writer intermittently fails to select text. When the
cursor is placed over text and dragged it simply moves position rather than
selecting the text.

Closing and reopening a file is one way I have been able to make selection start
working again. It has happened a number of times, but I am not sure what
triggers it.

I'm using max osX 10.5.8

followed the procedure for replacing fps_aqua.uno.dylib.

restarted Ooo and allowed it to recover document and did save as with no
problem, I repeated it and repeated it again with vpn, and saving on network
drive. No problems.

I think the problem was intermittent so will report here if I notice any further
problems.

I have an intermittent problem using 3.1 on osx 10.4.11.

Often when I do a save as openoffice crashes and starts document recovery.

Might have something to do with my using a VPN, thought the crash occurs as soon
as I choose save as and before chosing location with finder.

After recovery I have disconnected VPN and tried save as again and the prtogram
has simply frozen this time.

This has happened quite a few times. I have reinstalled the latest stable
version of open office but this has continuin to occur internittently.

The disruption caused by this problem is serious enough that I probably need to
discontinue using OOO for work.

When using writer with more that one page in view it now possible through the
zoom function it would make much more sense for pages to scroll horizontally.

A primary advantage of seeing 2 pages is to see what is before or after a
particular page, but when one scrolls vertically this only occurs on every
second page because the page before the page on the left hand of the screen is
largely above what can be seen on the screen and the page after the page viewed
on the right of the screen is also largely out of view.

It should be possible to move through the pages horizontally so that the user
can decide which 2 pages they want viable. This would be great when writing or
even formatting.

Hi I find that the cursor is also sometimes in the wrong position for left
justified text. It is usually off by about on character - so that when editing
text one often deletes the character next to the one that was intended.

I have relooked at the file and as far as I can make out the problems with the
importing are:

1. that openoffice displays additional images - I believe that they are images
from a pervious draft that MSword no longer displays!

2. There seems to be less space at the bottom of the page when opened in
openoffice - maybe something to do with page settings?

Under options to send a file (in file menu) an option to attach a document to an
email as a word file (similar to the PDF option) would enhance all components of
OOo2 for users who have to communicate with Microsoft users.
