I just stumbled about the same problem and was about to submit a new issue when
I found this. It also seems to me that line widths are not scaled down properly
when the slide is reduced in size to be printed in handout format. In my case,
it would make it impossible for me to use the new version, since the printed
handouts for lectures would be illegible.

No, testing the developer builds and the release candidates is unfortunately
only very rarely an option for me, for various reasons.

I updated from 3.0.1 to 3.1, loaded a presentation I last worked on with 3.0.1.,
and printed handouts with 2 slides on a page.

I noticed that the slides are unfortunately not framed any longer in the output.

This effect has been reproduced by at least one other user, see
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10t=19555

This was a showstopper, because I had to produce handouts for a commercial
seminar, and the missing frames makes them look unprofessional.

This is the third time for me that a new stable release version of OO.org
introduced a problem in Impress that impairs a previously flawlessly working
feature (stable releases should really not do that).

Any new concrete target milestone for that one? I noticed it hasn't been fixed
with 3.1.

When trying to print multiple slides with Impress (i.e. in handouts mode), the
layout order (horizontal/vertical) is grayed out if the slides per page
value is set FIRST.

The result is one can't even print handouts with 2 slides per page in vertical
layout without tricks!

- This problem also exists in OOo 3.0.0

- This problem did NOT exist with OOo 2.4.x

- Workaround: first select 4 slides per page, then switch to vertical, then
select 2 slides page.

I'm sorry to see that this wasn't fixed in 2.2.1, because it means I'm still
stuck with having to use 2.1.

All the best,

Stephan

It's NOT an issue of FreePDF XP (please read my previous comments more
carefully). The same things happens when printing directly to a printer.

I attached an example ODP file and the PDF version I created from it using
FreePDF XP. The effect is the same though when printing directly to a printer.

I reproduced this on a third computer now, this one is running Win2000.

Steps to reproduce:
- load odp file
- print immediately as handouts
- the resolution problems should now be visible in the output of the graphics on
slides 2 and 4.

Hi,

I installed 2.2 recently and noticed quite a showstopper: When producing
handouts, the printed version (I mostly print to a PDF file using FreePDF XP)
includes only a very low-res version of bitmap graphics used on the slides.

This effectively renders Impress 2.2 useless for producing handouts. I had to
install 2.1 to get it done properly.

It seems that this effect is correlated with the on-screen preview of the
slides: If the slide currently viewed on screen has a bitmap image, and thus
this image is rendered in higher resolution, this one page is printed o.k. But
all the other pages, which are on screen only visible as thumbnails, have their
bitmap graphics printed out in this very low-res preview mode.

I reproduced this effect on 2 PCs running Win XP.

All the best,

Stephan
