* I'll try out the unpatched linux version of Ooo a.s.a.p.
* Yes, it's a 64bit build of Thunderbird.
* The Mac versions are from:

resp. mozilla.com website download (german version of 2.0.0.17)

When accessing the data source assistant (german menu entry:
Datei-->Assistenten-->Adress-Datenquelle) the thunderbird addressbook doesn't
appear in list.
I didn't find any way to access the TB adress book neither on Linux nor on Mac 
while the windows version successfully deals with it.
