Hello,

via File - Wizard - Document Converter you are offering to convert several
documents at the time. This is very powerful.

I would like to have the option to convert similar OO documents, Word and
Powerpoint Documents to pdf. Is it possible to add this (either to this dialog
or a new one)?

Best regards, Lars

I believe the issue is clear, OO does currently not support multi-threating. If
I have one document open and open another document then the first document
should not be locked anymore.

Has this be changed with OOo 3.beta?

Hi,

sorry I did an error in assigning the shortcuts.

Now it deletes, but to much

Example:

Create the following document:

[EmptyLine]
TestLine
Testline

Place the cursor in the empty line and press Cntrl+D - the empty line and the
test line is deleted.

I only want to delete the emtpy line. I would assume that is what Delete Row
should stand for.

Right now is is either not deleting or to much.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

the issue has nothing todo with tables. It describes the issue of deleting a
normal text line.

Please try again (without table). Make three lines, second empty, place the
cursor on the first and delete this line via shortcut. Try now to delete the
empty line.

Hello,

I did assign the function Edit-Delete Row to Cntrl+D under Tools- Customize,
Keyboard.

Work fine if the row contains content but if you try to delete an empty line
nothing happes.

I assume this is a bug, should be easily reproducable (create doc with three
lines the second empty and press 3 time Delete Row).

Hello,

please see the attached document. The text is writen correctly (at least some of
it;-)) but the table of content is read-curled-underlined indicating that the
text is not writen correctly (spellcheck).

I would assume that if the text is correct in the document the TOC should not
marked as incorrect.

Or better, as the TOC is generated content it should not included in the
spellcheck at all.

Hello,

if you add a line in a table via tab and then press Cntr + Z the cursor jumps
to the beginning of the document.

I assume the cursor should go to the last know location before adding a line in
the table.

Example attached. Go to the botton of the document and the last line in the
table, press tab and then Cntr+ Z.

Hello,

unfortunately I'm also not able to reproduce this anymore. Before I just had to
change any line / move a picture to destroy the graphics.

So I assume that the reboot did clean-up something which was ... incorrect. As I
did restart OO before several times it must be something which is stored in
memory even after OO is closed.

Hello,

I have a document with several graphics. If delete several graphics and add
others.

After a while the graphics in the document are replaced with Read error.

This is really a big problem in using openoffice as I can not trust OO not to
destroy my documents.

Examples are attached. First the document before the loss of the graphics and
then the document after the loss of documents.

My issue 77135 was closed as a duplicate of this. This is a really painful
issue, as it is not save to create Screenshot Docu with OO. Would be really
good if you could fix this in OO 2.3 as suggest above.

in firefox. I personally would consider it really useful to open documents in
tabs in stead of in a new window. Best regards, Lars

Hello,

in general a sub-document included in a master document is write-protected.

If you include a tabe in a subdocument you can add lines via pressing tab. The
change is not saved but should also be avoided in editing.

Example attached.

Hello,

currently I can save styles via the menu File | Templates | Save.

I can the import the styles via F11 - Button New Style from Selection - Load
Styles.

I believe the import and export of styles is very powerful and the import of
styles should be available via a more logical menu, e.g. via the wizards menu.

Hello,

if I export .pdf via the menu I have the option to export the notes also.

The result is strange. The system creates normal slides without the notes
and afterwards the slides with the notes parts.

I believe this could be marked as a defect as I can not see the usage of having
both. I believe the correct export would be only to have slides with the notes
part.

Hello,

OO does not always paste everything which has been selected.

Example: Load the attached document. Look at the latest graphic. Press Control +
A, Control + X.

Press Control + V - the graphic at the end has not been pasted.

Hello,

could you please make it the default setting that a new Table of Content has
automatically hyperlinks in the page numbers?

This would mean that LS # LE is defaulted.

I can not image that someone would not like to have the page numbers as
hyperlink so I believe this change would help also others.

Hello,

I formated the chaptions to be numbered in a document. I export the styles via
menu File | Templates | save.

Then via F11, right button, load styles I import the styles in the master
document - the numbering of the chaptions is not taken over.

Master Document: MD_Import_too.odm
Subdocument and document to create the styles from:
Masterdocument_Import_Styles.odm

Correct, it has to do with the loading process in general not specific with the
master document. It only becomes more visible during a huge master document.
Currently I avoid attaching a master document with huge documents which are
included, as I don't believe they are required If again requested I will upload.

Hallo,

If I open a huge master document and tell the system to update all links to
the subdocuments then all documents are blocked until this master document has
been opened. With large documents this can take minutes.

I believe it would be more convenient for the user if only the master document
is blocked while the user can still work on other already open documents.

Hello,

Both attached files only contain one line of text.

If I import the document TEST_IMPORT02.doc then the result looks good but if I
change the style from heading to default then the text still has a numbering
attached to it. - I believe that is incorrect.

If I impor the document TEST_IMPORT02.doc then the result looks not ok. Even
though the line is marked a heading 1 and the configuration in OO is set to do
numbering for heading 1 I see no number. This might be ok as Winword also has
no numbering. But the test was moved a little to the right and it is hard to
get the text left centered again - I believe this is incorrect.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

in the attached document place the cursor behind 1.1.1. Press the backspace
button - The line will not get deleted as expected.

I have to change the format of the line to use the backspace button to delete
the line. Please investigate.

Best regards, Lars

Dear all,

if I specify a chaption and include a table of content the original TOC does
not include a space between the number and the text.

Example:

1 Test
1.1 Small Test

Would appear as
1Test
1.1Small Test
in the TOC.

Where is a workaround by using a space as separator in the outline numbering
definition but I believe the missing space in the default setting is not very
user friendly and should get fixed. Example document attached.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

If a graphic is selected and another graphic is pasted via cntl-v then the size
of the old graphic is keep and the new graphic will be reduced / enlargement in
size. This lead to strange graphics.

MS word would replace the graphic keeping the size of the new graphic. I
believe that is the more logical choice.

Could you please consider to change the current behaviour in the future?

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

I always have to setup the TOC (table of content) hyperlinks for a new document.
I personally prefer to have the page numbers for each chaper to be a hyperlink,
so that I can easily jump to each chaper.

In general I would like to ask for the option to store the TOC settings and make
them the default settings for new projects.

I don't think this is currently possible, I also checked at the forum with the
thread http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=91421#91421.

This functionality would be very helpful for me and perhaps also for others.

Best regards, Lars

Hi, try the following to make it appear. Turn (with a header style active for
this line) numbering on and then off again. Then switch the styles using
control-1, control-2, control-3. Hope this helps.

Hello,

pasting a graphic will not always place the graphic their the cursor is.

Try the attached file. To below the line which writes TRY TO PASTE THE GRAPHIC
HERE. and contrl + v the graphic from the document Graphic_to_paste. The
graphic will appear on the next page.

This have been a long time so that it is very irritating. You always have to
include a lot of spaces then paste the graphic and the delete the spaces again.

Can you please check?

Hello, sorry to re-open the issue. Don't you think a dialog like Thank you for
your feedback... would make sense? Not that this is a critical thing, but
really a nice-to-have. It is not rewarding if you try to crash the tool and
finally are successful but do not receive any feedback if your effort was
useful or not.

Unfortunately ;-) the new beta 2 does not crash frequently any more. Is there a
way to crash OO manually to check the message Cannot send message, e.g.
without beeing connect to a network? I tried crashrep.exe, crashrep.com but did
not receive any pop-up.

Hello,

OO allows to create automatically a new version if the document is closed. This
functionality does not work in my opinion correctly:

1.) Change the attached document. Save your changes and then close the document
afterwards. - no new version is created.
2.) Try to delete the one version this is in the this document. - Only the
header changes (adds the original test again) but the version is not deleted.
3.) Meta Info seems to get lost. Load the saved version and check the the table
of content is now a fixed text.

Hello,

It is possible to remove the write protection of the subdocuments in a
masterdocument but changes to the subdocuments are not saved.

Example: Unzip the attachment. Open the masterdocument, update the links. Go
anywhere in the document. Double-click on the right button of the OO
application on the read-only description. Remove the write protection. Change
something, save and re-open - Still the old test is shown.

Hello,

deletion of included graphics is not handeled very user friendly. Please check
the attached example.

1.) Graphic is not deleted: Using the backspace key it is not possible to
delete the first graphic.
2.) Graphic is deleted to early: Place the cursor at the end of the document.
Press backspace - the graphic is delete immediately. Other word processors are
first placing the cursor behind the graphic or marking the graphic so that the
user sees that he will delete the graphic.

Especially the second issue it annoying. I use graphics a lot in my documents
and sometimes I believe that between the graphic and text I have an
unnecessary empty line which I try to delete - Graphic is gone.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

thank you for the quick replay. I believe scaling the graphic would not be
correct. Other word processing programs would extent the space and I believe
that is the most logical choise.

Also look also that the new attached file. If you copy the existing graphic and
paste it again then it will be placed upon the existing graphic.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

this is an enhancement request, as request in issue [Issue 54104] Graphic
deleted to early.

Please check the attached example.

Graphic is deleted to early: Place the cursor at the end of the document.
Press backspace - the graphic is delete immediately. Other word processors are
first placing the cursor behind the graphic or marking the graphic so that the
user sees that he will delete the graphic.

I use graphics a lot in my documents
and sometimes I believe that between the graphic and text I have an
unnecessary empty line which I try to delete - Graphic is gone.

So it would be nice-to-have if OO could handle the deletion of graphics simular
to other word processors which give the user at least a warning before a
graphic is deleted.

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

please check the attached example.

In [Issue 54104] Graphic deleted to early I was asked to open this enhancement
request.

Sometimes it is not possible to delete graphics via backspace. In my example
the second graphic can be deleted via backspace the first one not.

The graphics in the document are anchored to paragraph. In the 2nd case, the
graphic will be deleted, because the paragraph (where it is anchred to) is
deleted by Backspace.

Can you please adjust the software so that both cases are handelled simular.
For the user it is hard to understand this different behaviour.

Best regards, Lars

Hi, this is strange. In general the hyperlink functionality works but in this
specific document it stopped working after the first usage.

In the table of content please click on the hyperlink for:

1.4.2.1 Interface Repository

Then go up again and click on it again - Does not work anymore.

Hello,

in the uploaded example the numbering of chaptions is strange.

For example: Mark the line with the text testline.

Assign style Heading 1 then Heading 2 then Heading 3 to it. The number
stays 2 while under Tools | Outline Numbering the show sublevels is correctly
set.

Best regars, Lars

Hello,

working with master document frequently crashes the writer. I keep on sending
in the error reports but I'm not sure if the go through the firewall. How could
I check if you have received these errors?

In most of the cases the writer crashes if you import serveral documents into
at the same time. Please let me know if my error reports have reached you, if
you I will update this issue with the dump info.

Dear OO-developers,

I receive frequently dumps in OO and I try to send these error reports to you.

A bit frustrating is that I do not receive a feedback if the error has
succesfully received by you. I'm behind a proxy and I'm not sure if OO makes it
through. In OO 1.1.4 I alway receive: Failed to send error report.

Could you perhaps add also a message in the case the sending was succesfull?
Something like: Successfully send the error reports in case it was send
through?

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

If I import two document at once a in masterdocument the order in which they
are included is revised.

Example:
Create two docuement 1.odt and 2.odt. Create one masterdocument. Include both
files. The file dialog shows: 1.odt 2.odt.

I would now expect that the document is imported first and then the 2.odt.

But the order after the import is 2.odt and then 2.odt. I believe this is a
bug.

But there is a order. For exampel if you mark first 1.odt and then 2.odt while
holding the ctrl key they are selected correctly.

The file name becomes: 2.odt 1.odt

Only if I used the mouse the file name selector always becomes 1.odt 2.odt.
So I believe if you would be able to change the sorting of the file selected by
the mouse then the import would be correct.

Hallo,

this is an enhancement request.

Would it be possible to add the option to extract the layout of a writer
document and to import this layout into existing writer documents?

I have several documents and I would like to allign the layout.

Looking at the file structure I believe the layout is captured in styles.xml.
Down- and uploading this file might transfer the layout?

Best regards, Lars

Hello,

would be nice if you could add in the standard a functionality to jump to a
specific page, something like in emacs M-x goto-line n RET.

Can be done via basis, e.g. with the following, but it would be nice to have it
into the standard release.

Best regards, Lars

Sub PageMarker
target = Int(InputBox(Enter the target page number.))
oDoc = thisComponent
oVC = oDoc.CurrentController.getViewCursor
oTC = oDoc.Text.createTextCursor
oVC.gotoRange(oTC,false)
Do While oVC.getPage target
If NOT oTC.gotoNextParagraph(false) then 'Will return false if no move.
MsgBox No such page
End
EndIf
oVC.gotoRange(oTC,false)
Loop
oStart = oDoc.Text.createTextCursorByRange(oTC)
Do While oVC.getPage target + 1
If NOT oTC.gotoNextParagraph(false) then 'First paragraph could also be last.
oTC.gotoEndOfParagraph(false)
goto MarkIt
EndIf
oVc.gotoRange(oTC,false)
Loop
oTC.gotoPreviousParagraph(false)
oTC.gotoEndOfParagraph(false)
MarkIt:
oEnd = oDoc.Text.createTextCursorByRange(oTC)
REM as a test of code select the target page.
oVC.gotoRange(oStart,false)
oVC.gotoRange(oEnd,true)
End Sub
