regression of issue 51143, it seems :-\

The problem here is that the original WHERE clause is (temporarily) stripped
from the statement, resulting in an SQL statement selecting from all 3 tables.
The resulting result set would have over 8 million rows, and retrieving those
takes a while for even the fastest DB engine ...

@srotti - sorry for the delay.
This morning I had a chance to look at this a little.
Using OO.o 3.1 and the query as entered...yup - it runs and runs but never (at
least not in 4 minutes) finishes.
Oddly for me it matters not whether it is SQL direct or not.

Also - at the moment I don't seem to have 2.4 installed under XP but I do have
2.3.1 and under this OO.o release it has exactly the same problems as under 3.1

So - I'll put a copy of 2.4.1 and give it a try and see what I see

@atjensen: To be honest - I am not sure about version 2.4.1, because I tested
it originally with 2.0.0 (in my company) and it was absolut O.K. The macros
with the SQL query were running without any problem... !

ajtensen-
using the Base MS Access connection under Windows to
work with the .mdb file, not an external ODBC connection for instance?

Correct, it´s the original MS Access OO driver...

Sorry, but I have no example in a HSQL database, but I tried it and it was the
same...not in the macro code - I have not tested this - but in the database
query the frozen system was the same...

@sarotti - Just hoped I could help you keeo working whle the defect process is
worked.

Just to be sure, you are using the Base MS Access connection under Windows to
work with the .mdb file, not an external ODBC connection for instance? (although
I did see that you say HSQLdb will do it also..but)

I'll check it under XP later tonight using 2.4 and 3.1

fs-sarotti: Can you please attach a sample database, either MS Access or
HSQLDB, so this issue can be cleanly reproduced?

fs-Thank you for your fast feedback...attached you can find my Access 97
database with the problems in the query.

atjensen-yes, it works in the macro code (oStatement.EscapeProcessing = False)
but the same happens when creating a query in the database itself in the
design mode. It´s a little bit strange for OO only hanging or freezing without
a message...so my interpretation is, that there is a code failure in OO ...
