checked and verified in cws fwk103 - OK ! Functionality is only given when
using OOo's own dialogs and not the system file-picker.

mav-tm: Yes, you are right, in some cases the system dialog detects the problem
too early and just does not allow to start the storing process. Since the
logging is developed for the storing process, no log is generated in this case.
But in general the logging implementation is not system dependent.

The log is stored in user folder/user/temp/document_io_logring.txt every time
the storing of a document fails.

mav-tm: Please verify the issue. Please use a scenario where a document can not
be stored, after you get the error message, the log information related to the
last failed storing should be in the following file
user folder/user/temp/document_io_logring.txt

fs-mav: Is the DocumentIO in DocumentIOLogRing necessary? That is, is
anything in this service really specific to document IO, or is it a generic
service which can be used in other contexts as well? In the latter case, I
suggest naming it LogRing only.

mav-fs: The implementation itself is a general one. But the ring is of limited
size, thus the singleton should be used in limited number of scenarios. The name
is intended to limit the usage to the document IO related scenarios.

Hmm. Why this limitation? If next year, we find another client which also needs
a limited-size log ring, will we introduce an AnotherClientLogRing then, which
does exactly the same as the DocumentIOLogRing?
(Also, why not making the ring size a parameter to the log ring, thus removing
the reasoning for the limitation?)

I have only now understood the reason for the confusion, I have referred the
singleton as a service in my first message. Sorry for the typo.

If it was a service, it had of course no sense to introduce the usage limitation
for such a general implementation.

But, the singleton can have only one instance. That means that the only
reasonable way to set the ring size, is to do it in the implementation.

If we need another ring-singleton next time, we can do it based on the current
implementation by registering it with a different singleton name ( and adjusting
the implementation if necessary ).

There are some mysterious cases when a document can not be stored. The problem
with those cases is that sometimes they are reproducible once pro year for a
user. The document looks to get a state when it can not be store any more in ODF
format.

To improve the situation the following implementation is on the way:
- there will be a com.sun.star.logging.DocumentIOLogRing service that is able to
contain a limited number of messages
- the logring will be filled with the messages from the most important framework
parts of the storing source code including document error setting. The messages
will allow to identify the related part by logged file name and line
- the exceptions thrown from file content UCP, package and storage
implementations will contain information regarding code part that throws the
exception
- the storage implementation will log all the exceptions that reach the caller
in the logring
- at the end of storing, if and only if the document could not be saved the
information will be retrieved from the longring and stored in the log file in
the user configuration

The logring is not used in low-level components because the exceptions are
thrown very often from there ( especially UCP ) and do not always mean erroneous
situation. They would just overflow the logger.

Currently I see now way how the solution could affect the performance in
noticeable way.
