It is often very inconvenient even for experienced people to have the
quickstarter turned on because every time there is an update to an extesion or
they want to enable an extension, they have to manually exit the quickstarter
and manually turn it on. People new to OO.o can be embarrassed by the
quickstarter, because they do not know what it is for and when they install OO.o
for the first time, they don't know if they would like to use this program often
or not. Maybe they will use it once in a month. Why then they would need the
quickstarter? If they would like to use it often, they can read about the
quickstarter in the help and turn it on. But if they install OO.o for the first
time, they do not notice the quickstarter at all. Some people do not understand
why their extensions are not installed, because they even do not know that there
is the quickstarter. When extensions are updated automatically, they require a
restart. If you are new to OO.o, you need to manually exit quickstarter and then
to manually launch it? This quickstarter does not save time, but wastes time by
getting attension to itself. There is an issue 88692 (
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=88692 ) that is about advising
to restart. But advising is not enough, because how can you advice to restart
the quickstarter? This is nonsense. If you make a complete automatic restart
including quickstarter after installation of an extension, this solves almost
all problems. However, concider turning it off by default.
