The problem is that in one case (left button) the dialog gets executed in a thread different from the main thread. Execute is not much but waiting for events in a loop. In the gtk plugin as well as on MacOSX however the waiting part falls on its face because events (as in mouse move and such) never happen in a thread different from the main thread, resulting in an immediate return.
