After all our extension dictionaries are hunspell specific! If you can install a spellchecker that does not need them spell checking would still be possible. An example for this would be the Duden-Korrektor extension (it comes along with everything it needs!) Also (at least in Writer) the same menu entry is also used for grammar checking. And currently all grammar checkers are installed as extension and bring all their required data along. For example Language-Tool. Even with no spell checker installed the menu entry would still be useful if a grammar checker is installed! - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. See issue158698 (Bugtracker, NOT bugster). Therefore this would be a duplicate. On the other hand, on could argue that if no dictionary is installed, then there should be a spell check menu entry. Then this issue belongs to TL. @OF: You decide. - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker. I can tell if the issue is on our side or OpenSolaris... @OF: Please have a look. --- Comment #3 From Rich Burridge 2009-07-24 07:39:01 --- I was thinking a bit about this yesterday as I was moving it over... The OpenOffice packages on OpenSolaris are derived from the SVR4 packages. One of the things that the package manager doesn't do at install time on OpenSolaris, is run any scripts (such as postinstall scripts). Now I was wondering whether there was such a postinstall script for OpenOffice and whether it didn't anything to setup spell checking. If there is, then you will need to work out what the equivalent actions are in the OpenSolaris world. Just a thought. It might be something else completely. --- - Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
