There are not enough people that are using 256 colors. And they won't get more. On my Windows 7 box I can't select these settings any more. Now, I switched to Windows XP, because Windows 2000 is no longer supported. In my opinion, Windows XP looks much less ugly in 256. The Microsoft designers have gone mad, I think, and I am thankful for what they do in 256.
