We did some additional investigation and the situation is as follows. The SaveAs feature *always* removes versions. This design is obviously wrong, so it must be changed. Design changes usually are classified as RFE. I agree that we might need some urgent action, so we are currently investigating how to proceed. This issue is a category 2 show-stopper - loss of data - and yet apparently is of no interest to QA. The version 2 (.odt) of my example Writer document is vasly reduced in size compared with the version 1 (.sxw) (from 1,557 kB to 21 kB), thus confirming that the data is truly lost. If OO.o (and Star Office) truly want to compete in the corporate market place this class of bug cannot be allowed to appear in public! Regards.
