Completed summary due to original report.

I checked with 2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)] and can still
see this problem.

This is the same problem as reported in Issue 64764.

Althoughthis issue was reported before Issue 64764, I will close this one as
DUP, because 64764 is already NEW and with more detailed comments.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 64764 ***

Thai file name can't double click to open in WindowXP SP2. But I can't attach
Thai file to you too.

The problem is related to the way the browser translates a filename containing
national
characters. I got the problem with Opera 7.54 (Win XP SP2, OOo 1.9.113). The
downloaded file is correct, only its name is incorrect.

I found myself the problem on a filename containing one french national
character.
Downloading with Opera resulted in an incorrect character and the indicated
behaviour.
Copy/pasting that character into the name of another local file reproduced the
behaviour.

I tested Opera, IE6, Firefox. Each browser handles downloaded filenames
differently. I
got the problem only with Opera.

OOo should at least give an error message when it finds an incorrect filename.

The original bug report does not have anything to do with web browsers. Also,
the sample files do not have incorrect filenames. They are perfectly
legitimate file names, and previous OOo 2.0 (m109 I think) opened them just
find. (I only mentioned the browsers so that the test files could be correctly
retrieved).

works on Linux (FC4), too...

(I didn't install system-integration
== I needed to tell xffm/nautilus which program to use...)

Note: You will need to download the attachement with a browser other than
Firefox (1.0.6 anyway). Firefox destroys the filename for some reason, but
Opera will download it correctly.

Actually, it seems to be a problem with any non-Western characters in the
filename.
