It seems that he mistakenly referred to 'legal' the actual papersize he was printing on was 8.5x13 (which is Folio). Same case for us in the Philippines: when somebody makes a typical legal contract or anything that needs to be notarized (for any purpose), it is almost always written on a FOLIO papersize (8.5 X 13) - our local legal size commonly known as LongBond paper. So every first-time user of wordprocessor or spreadsheet (eg. MSOffice, Openoffice etc,) will normally make the same mistake - in the absence of a 'choice' to click on with the mouse. Lettersize (8.5x11) Folio (8.5x13) are the two most commonly used papersizes in the Philippines, in school and government, (and probably to some neighboring asian countries). How about including Folio 8.5 x 13 as part of the Format-Page-PaperFormat menu in OpenOffice.org? That way, there will be lesser confusion since the actual papersize (8.5 x 13) is clearly indicated. (...for the sake of some countries in this part of the world using that papersize) From experience, it is very hard teaching (our common people) the concept of templates. They would rather let you print for them, than change the default setting. Every new trainee in our office/students had at some point made that mistake, using legal when they were actually referring to Folio - which must be custom-set every time. I hope OpenOffice.org can consider this local/specific needs of some countries.
